I am sure my opinion should be weighed. I have published eight books thru them. Look up my name. Mr. Rodney Paul Williams. The info I presented above is misleading in a sort. I mailed to them nine books. They acknowledged receiving all nine. My fifth book of a pentad series disappeared after they received it. Eugene their head officer has verbally stated to me they do not have it.That is all he would expound upon. What happened to it, compensation for the books theft or loss he never brought up. Nor was an apology professed. Any investigation to its whereabouts he has yet to comment. And that's their boss. They charge over a thousand dollars per publication, yet they do not even auto- correct _ without an extra charge. My six book a tertiary series was incorrectly launched ( released for sale ) with a major flaw. In the book's three story galley fourteen pages were repeated in two stories of the book. Thank GOD I do because I enlisted Kirkus/ Indie to professionally review that book. Kirkus / Indie found the twice printed fourteen pages. Also numerous mis - spellings were found by Kirkus / Indie. As verification to the last statement ready Kirkus / Indie book review on Duck Duck Go, and or on Google. I have already written five more books included my in story of my earlier years. My word to you all, Authorhouse will not be hired by me to publish them.thus is from Mr. Rodney Paul Williams, honorably discharged U. S. A. Air Force veteran, Senior Citizen, Advocate For Disabled Veterans. Color me gone.

We apologize for any issues you encountered. Authors do have the option to register their copyright directly with the U.S. Copyright Office. With our service, you are paying for the entire process, paperwork, and books.
We will gladly correct any mistakes found at no additional cost, it's important to note that in self-publishing, authors are ultimately responsible for their content, including proofreading. As authors own the copyright, we cannot make changes without their approval.
We continuously work to improve our services and ensure our sales department effectively helps authors reach their audience. Your input is important to us, and we are committed to enhancing the author experience.
As a Canadian author, they are the worst publisher to use. You need to have a US TIN or you will lose 30% of your royalties to withholding taxes. You will also have to deal with receiving a check in the mail as the company doesn't do direct deposits for Canadians. This creates problems if you are renting a place and may move and have to deal with inconvenience of address change or the one renting seeing your mail. If your check expires, they will require you to mail it back to them even if the royalty payment is very small. It may not be worth it because mail may be more than the value of your royalty check. It becomes your loss and you will hate them as I do already. They keep contacting you and assuming you want more services. They prepare to bill you a package and wait for your response. Keep in mind that you are paying USD and not your currency if you don't live there and don't have a US based bank. They will not accept a Canadian based bank even if you have USD account. They are equal to being called a scam. I don't get much royalties and they want to clear out the outstanding royalties. You need to double check when you get paid unlike other companies they only pay every so often.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand the challenges faced by Canadian authors regarding withholding taxes and payment methods. Please know that we are actively working on a solution for international payments, including direct deposits for Canadian authors. Our goal is to make the process smoother and more convenient for all our authors. We appreciate your patience as we strive to improve our services.

They will tell you lies about what will happen in terms of marketing. They will sell your details to every book-related scammer on Earth who will be contacting you about idiot TV appearances over a decade later. And they will print 50 copies of your book for around $5000 USD and call you a few times regarding a marketing campaign that doesn't exist, just like all the other vanity publishing scammers.
Still being contacted daily by mad people from all over the world about my long dead brother's book which makes it very difficult to try and forget about what happened.

We prioritize your privacy and do not sell or share your information with third parties. However, please be aware that scammers may exploit copyright and other methods to target authors. Regarding your comment about 50 books for $5000, the cost of the book times the number of copies does not add up to this. I would be happy to investigate further. Could you please provide the purchase date by emailing [email protected]?
Regarding marketing campaigns, we do offer various services, and you should have received detailed information about them, including creative samples. Effective marketing requires continuous effort, and the services we offer are meant to complement your own marketing activities.
The staff was very difficult to understand. They had broken English. At first, they said that production would start immediately and then after I made second payment, they informed me that the book would not go out to the public until it was paid off. Also, they said my packet included copies of the book to me and that I had $275 credit for marketing but instead at the end they used the $275 to pay for my copies of the book. Amazon and Noble has my books listed but not available.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. We strive to provide clear and accurate communication, and I apologize if we fell short in this instance. Production does begin after the initial payment, but the book is not released to the public until the balance is fully paid. Regarding the $250 credit, it is a coupon to use for your book purchases and I regret any misunderstanding. We are working with our third party vendors to update the sales listing.
Most of the consultants I worked with, from the outset, were professional, good listeners, provided good, clear advice, and answered telephone calls and emails almost immediately. Information Guides, FAQ's and other materials assist new authors with good suggestions for marketing your mark. I am very pleased with AuthorHouse and will sincerely consider them for my next book.

It's great to know that our team was responsive and provided clear advice throughout your journey. The company /individuals make their money off the authors and unfortunately nickel and dime (by the hundreds to thousands) them for everything. They charge for a program to ensure that no matter where else a buyer purchases a book, the printed copy will be good, only if you, their author pays a few thousand for it. The worst part is, when the author buys copies of their own book from their publisher, the quality may be poor and they don't do quality checks to ensure their authors get good copies. Regardless of whom they choose to make the copies with. Which sort of makes them like a boutique publisher.
In addition, you can't change the cost of your book for a sale blitz to increase interests or simply because it's older, etc. It ties the authors hands!
It makes it appear that the money is their primary focus. The people that sell these varied programs, edits, and such likely get a percentage of that transaction. I won't be doing the change of this book or future books with them.
On the positive side, the book cover came out beautifully, and everyone that I did speak to was pleasant.

SCAM......I was told I would recive 100% royalty, I was also charged nearly £5000 - £6000 to publish my book plus additional £250 for 30 coppies. My book was put online on Amazon, I was then told I would recive payment quartly for purchases. I had family and friends purchase my book to ensure this was true.....it has been over 1 year and I have recived no money, I have tried contacting Author House for a few months now and been blocked, ignored and told I will get a call back. THIS IS A SCAM....they take the initial payment to put the book online and after that you get blocked as they make money of your book and you get nothing. To end the contract means pulling the book and you have to start from scratch but they keep that initial payment. PLEASE DONT USE THEM.....me and my husband used our savings, money from friends, loans and took a risk....for this to happen.
We are currently trying to save up for court which is now costing even more.....and Author House still want contact me in anyway.

I apologize for any confusion. Your payments have been recorded correctly. You will be paid for the books sold since you signed up for EFT, which I see you did last week. I also see you are in contact to resolve any other outstanding issues. If you would like to discuss this further or would like to make any changes please contact us at [email protected]
Author house only has interest in taking your money and they dont care if ur mentally unwell or wether u know what ur doing at all they made everything sound appealing and say ur novel will be successfull without knowing how successfull it will be they preyed on my every nerve with my story and i had 2 fight tooth and nail getting my money back and they still kept 60 quid of it if ur wanting to publish with these think twice before diving into something tht aint nice. Rilee hoi

We are sorry you feel this way. We could not publish your book due to privacy and libel issues. We withheld the amount per the contract for the review.
Do you know lawyers for this. (Someone said there is a statue of limitations. I don't see this on my contract that after a certain amount of time that they can make money of of my book without paying me. I published my book with Author House in March of 2011. To date I have no idea how many books have been sold. Since then and to date it is being sold all over the internet including by Author House. To date they have paid me around $4.00. If the book is not selling, then why are so many people selling it. The name of the book is When the Enemy comes by Delores Fischer. you can look it up. I have tried asking them many times over the years and i get no answers. When I first published my book they said I would receive $5.00 per book. I tried again today and because I don't have the same phone number or email address they said they couldn't pull up my account. Before when I called they asked my name, name of the book and the ISBN number. I'm in the process of filing a chargeback and contacting a lawyer about this since they're still ripping me off after all these years.

I apologize for any confusion. You have been paid correctly for the books sold prior to our conversion to EFT. We do have an outstanding payment that will be made once you sign up for direct deposit. I see where you received the instructions for doing this. As for the listings all over the internet – these are listings. Until someone purchases the book the retailers do not order it. This is not an indication of sales.
I am very dissatisfied with my project. It is a reflection of my artwork as a writer as well as the education of alterhouses editing skills. Overall it is 90% great but I want to assume I paid for a 100% greatness. Also I would like to mention I am just being aware of the issues on my project that was published through your establishment, because of the extreme late delivery of my free five copy's of my book. I would like to connect with author house and go over these issues. I would also like them to be corrected and reprinted.

We are sorry to hear you are dissatisfied. We would be happy to review the editor's work. We will call you today to see how we need to proceed. I looked at your cover and interior and love the design of both.
Speaking with Virginia and having lay everything out where we were able to understand fully and proceed forward confidently! Her spirit and energy carried us throughout the process!

Thanks for the great review - Virginia will be thrilled to read this.
Author House are just a business who will take your last penny. They don't care!
What do you mean 'this time'? My so called publishing consultant is insincere, bullying and does not listen. They are supposedly publishing a book for me, and she put pressure on me to offer another one for publication. This second book was not even completed, but she wouldn't listen to what I was trying to tell her. She pushed me to pay half of a first payment. I caved in just to get her off my back, as she is very intimidating. I have since scrapped this second book. I informed them in writing, but they have just sent me-unsolicited, an instalment payment plan agreement which obviously I won't be signing! Authorhouse have been horrible to work with. Admittedly, I am not a'digitaI' person, and am 74 years old! This has been a stressful experience which I would never repeat, neither would I recommend them to anyone else looking to get published!

We are sorry to hear about your disappointment. This is definitely not the experience we aim to give our authors. We will refund the 2nd package. We have also put you on the do not call list so you will not be experiencing any further calls not directly related to the book you are publishing
I dislike the fact that choosing my art work illustration we're not completely used as I wanted and the length of time frame it took to finish the children book. I also dislike the price of a children's book. However someone else stepped in to help work on the book and it turned out okay, so I was in between liking and not liking. I still feel like I should have gotten refunded back some of my money. I been with author since 2006 and I know that they can do better. Thank you all.

We hope you continue to be one of our authors. It is a great accomplishment that you have published 3 books with us. No accountability for what you say you will provide. No one has put authentic care into my book. I am treated like a number or, worst, nothing. No one reads or is interested in my book.
