AI generated

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about the flawed moderation system, reporting that automated tools often led to unfair and unexpected account bans. People also experienced frustrating website changes, constant errors, and broken features that made navigation and daily use extremely difficult. Some reviewers were happy with certain aspects of the platform. Consumers noted that it provides a good space to support independent artists, discover creative content, and showcase great artwork. Reviewers also found the platform fairly easy to navigate when first getting started as a content creator to develop an audience.

What people say

AI Run Slop Site

Yesterday my account account was suspended for a violation they didn't specify, just a vague accusation. This isn't the first time they have done this nor am I alone as a content creator making actual artwork, they have done this to other artists I know and talk to. It's pretty clear DA runs an illegal AI scraping operation, something they were sued over in the past. I protect my images using the University of Chicago's Nightshade and Glaze as should all original artists. It seemed pretty clear the account was banned because they couldn't steal my art to train their AI on. What they claim is a violation on their site is rampant but solely made by AI. "Rules for thee but not for me" mentality. My considered opinion is the site needs to be shut down and the owners sued into utter poverty.

Too much toxicity

DeviantArt has become a toxic site, too much drama, toxic people and fans in the communities I had a Hater attack me with blood and hateart, just for expressing an opinion on Smiling Critters (from Poppy Playtime Chapter 3) I was treated in a toxic and mean way on a community named (Human Channels/Human Networks) And also Too much manchilds that write "Delete This" or "Blocked and Reported" Too much dramas This site has become pathetic, it forced me to log out The people who work at DeviantArt should be ASHAMED!

Forced use =/= increased popularity

The mobile app was a much more fluid and natural experience. I was fine with DA doing the “web app” and leaving the mobile app as it was but they recently updated it to where they’re trying to force the use of the web app over the mobile app instead of just leaving it how it was. Now I HAVE to use the web app if I want to see anything new. And the web app has so many issues with it and how it functions

Warning for creators

Warning, if you are creator. They are dumb, that's why they are so old yet still so small. I started an account, it was performing very well, I started making revenue and had very engaged users, suddenly they permanently blocked it because I posted content that was not allowed according to their policies. But their policies are ambiguous and very extensive. I did not do it intentionally. I had thousands of followers, now I have to start over again. That is not good for deviantart and not for me, because we both lose revenue. The smart way of doing it is sending the user a warning first and take down only the forbidden content, especially if he is generating money for the platform. So, summary, I would not go to them if I want to monetize my creations. They can one day eliminate your account, no warning at all, and you will lose the work of months, maybe years. And I know I'm not alone in this. Luckily I was only 1 month there.

Unfit for purpose (AGAIN!) - Literature Submissions Broken (AGAIN!)

Unfit for purpose (AGAIN!) ================== So, I am updating a "literature" file ("deviation") by adding some extra pictures. The dam*ed system won't let me save the changes and all I can do is just bl**dy-well ditch the whole thing I've been trying so hard to change and make batter. Using this s(*)ite is one of THE WORST EXPERIENCES of MY ENTIRE LIFE! What a waste of about £100 a year - but I am close to finishing my Project and don't just want to abandon it now! THANK goodness I have all my content in other formats - it is mental / horrible / crazy / dispiriting / completely unprofessional / more or less unusable. DEVIANTART - help PLEASE - let me SAVE MY CHANGES / WORK - SORT YOUR WEBSITE OUT ..... PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always save pictures you like to your hard drive.

Be careful when you put a pic you like in favourites, without warning DA suspend / ban people and all the nice pictures you have save vanish. Save everything on your hard drive. I have been putting exactly the same type of pics for a year, suddenly they decide I am breaking their rules.

Lazy moderation and a haven for toxicity

I used to think DeviantArt was a place of thriving creativity. Things used to be nice when they were responsible for their own site. But now that the moderation has been replaced by AI moderation that does not give a damn about any of the users, my opinion has vastly changed. In recent years, it has become a haven for the most toxic people in history. I am very disappointed in what DeviantArt has become.

Some good - but TERRIBLE to USE - JUST FIX THESE PROBLEMS!

This website charges. I pay. I understand there can be problems now and then. However, there are three (main) type of problem here. 1. Customer support is practically non-existent: "submit a ticket" - WHAT (no response)>>! 2. They CONSTANTLY change / "upgrade" / "wreck" / how you do anything ... resulting in an utterly fragmented and unusable "user experience"!!!!!!! 3. My current reason for posting - **CONSTANT** "403 ERRORS" if I press ANY BUTTON / got BACK and FORTH between different pages on the site / give more than a couple of "FAVOURTIES" in succession. ANY "real" interaction with this AWFUL (at present) site is getting me "locked out" - I have canvassed other users and it's not just me ... same problems there too. This is ******* TOTALLY UNCACCEPTABLE ******* for ANYONE - LET ALONE when you're paying ($$ / ££ ) per year for a subscription and SIMPLY CANNOT USE THE DAMNED product!!!!! ~ Sort yourselves out, PLEASE!!!!

Banned for BS reasons

Banned for BS reasons. I was told I posted sexually explicit content. I NEVER DID. They won't tell you what it was, they can't, since I didn't. And because the ban is because I posted sexually explicit content, they do not allow appeal or manual human review. So they claim you broke their rules, don't say how, and when you appeal they are basically worthless. Honestly, I can't understand how the site is still alive, I imagine the whole user base will be banned within 6 months then there will be no one left who is allowed to use the site...

Fraudulent Bans Right After Subscription Purchase – 6-Year Account Destroyed by Scammers

I had a DeviantArt account for 6 years with zero violations, warnings, or issues. I regularly uploaded my artwork without any problems. Everything changed the moment I purchased a paid subscription specifically to start monetizing my content. Immediately after the payment went through, my account was permanently banned for "illegal content." No specific examples, no links to the supposed violating artworks, no explanation whatsoever. Just an automated message and total lockout. I contacted support demanding proof: which exact pieces violate the rules? Show me the content. I also requested a human review instead of their broken AI system. Radio silence. No response. Typical for this fraudulent operation. This is a blatant scam. They wait for users to pay for Core membership or subscriptions, then trigger automated bans to steal the money while destroying years of work and community building. My entire portfolio, watchers, and monetization efforts — gone in seconds. Looking at Trustpilot and other reviews, this is not an isolated incident. It's their business model: lure artists with promises of monetization, take the payment, and ban them without evidence or recourse. Support is non-existent. This isn't moderation — it's theft and defamation. DeviantArt has become a predatory trap for creators. The platform should be investigated and shut down. The owners and management need to be held legally accountable for systematic fraud, unfair trading practices, and destroying artists' livelihoods. Do not buy any subscription. Do not invest your time or money here. They are scammers operating behind an art community facade. Stay away and warn every artist you know. Avoid this platform at all costs

dear deviantart.

i have been reporting multiple users who have been posting necrophillia, self harm and hate speech content for months and when i had to escalate to contacting deviantart because they wouldn’t take ANYTHING down i got a response that sounded somewhat rude and just told me to report them again through the site (you can't report things twice as far as i know so that advice is useless)?? what type of customer “support” is this?? as long as they let this disgusting content stay on the website im not using it for my art.
