I have nothing bad to say about Getaround. Only tried it once, but it was good!

I would strongly advise anyone…

I would strongly advise anyone considering renting a car through Getaround to think twice. Our experience was extremely disappointing and, more importantly, unsafe. We collected a vehicle that repeatedly lost power while driving, making it difficult and at times impossible to accelerate. This happened on public roads and forced us to stop several times on road shoulders and at gas stations because we no longer felt safe continuing our journey. When we contacted the owner, he admitted that this problem "sometimes happens" and suggested that we buy engine oil ourselves only a few hours after picking up the vehicle. A rental customer should never be expected to perform maintenance on a car that should have been delivered in safe working condition. We immediately contacted Getaround and explained that the vehicle was dangerous to drive. A mechanic inspected the car and assured us that it was safe. It was not. The exact same dangerous problem continued immediately afterward. To make matters worse, we spent over 20 minutes trying to reach Getaround's support again during this emergency and received no assistance. Because of this, we had to cancel part of our trip, lost valuable vacation time, and experienced unnecessary stress while fearing for our safety. We have videos, photographs, screenshots of our conversations with the owner, and records of our attempts to contact Getaround, all documenting what happened. A company that rents vehicles should prioritize customer safety above all else. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Based on what happened to us, I cannot recommend Getaround and would encourage anyone considering using this service to be extremely cautious.

Total nightmare: App glitches, zero support, and abusive automatic fees!

Avoid renting with Getaround! Their app froze on the "Start Rental" screen when I tried to return the vehicle early (at 11:00 AM, though my rental was paid until 16:30). Because of their system bug, I was automatically hit with a fraudulent €30 "late fee." On top of that, they charged me an abusive €37 for fuel for a short 56 km drive in a hybrid Renault Clio—a mathematical absurdity that equals roughly €14.80 per liter! To make matters worse, customer service is nonexistent. I spent an hour on the phone making two 30-minute calls to support and nobody answered. Senior support later refused to check my time-stamped video evidence and just sent automated replies. Unprofessional, buggy, and completely abusive. Stay away!
