I love grammarly. but I wish the free trial was longer also i just love how easy it is to use
Good, but it keeps running out of free samples, and I don't like it. Give me more, plus sometimes the grammar doesn't make sense. Funny enough, I'm using it to write this.

Awful service completed a free trial and immediately took £120 they responded to my request for a refund in the hour. As a gesture of good will they have returned £95 and kept £25. Why when I cancelled it exactly on the day the free trial ended. Now I’m trying to get through to someone and suddenly I’ve been completely ignored!!

Dear Customers, I want to warn you about two issues with Grammarly. First, if you try to get a refund, be aware that they will hide behind their "our policy" defence and you are unlikely to succeed. Second, the grammar correction software itself is deeply flawed. Each time you accept a correction, the number of remaining errors mysteriously jumps — from 80 to 145, for example — and the cycle never ends. This is clearly a bug in the software. Save your money. Don't buy it. Instead, I would suggest Claude.ai.

nice and easy to use
The Grammarly assist tab stopped working. For 2 days I've been trying to get it to work through they're automated system. I'm very discouraged that I was not able to speak to a human person. I enjoy using the app before it stop working. I am 65 years old and they sent me a lot of technical information to fix the problem I am not that technical savvy so I guess now since it's not working I pay for a subscription which I won't be able to use.

I want to start with what works, because it genuinely does work for certain things. I have dyslexia and I'm writing academic work — lit reviews, methodology sections, lab reports. At the baseline level, Grammarly catches syntax errors I routinely miss and does it quickly enough to fit into a real writing workflow. For that specific use case, it has been a meaningful tool and I don't want to understate that. The frustration starts when the AI layer moves beyond surface-level correction. In my experience, the premium suggestions have actively altered accurate phrasing in technical methodology sections — not flagging possible issues for review, but replacing correct terminology with wrong alternatives. That's a different kind of problem to missing an error. It means I now have to verify every AI suggestion carefully, which partially defeats the purpose. The interface compounds this. The pop-up is persistent in a way that actively disrupts qualitative coding work — it surfaces at exactly the moments when interruption is most costly. On billing: I haven't personally experienced the renewal issue, but I've watched it affect multiple people in my research cohort. The pattern is consistent — trial reminders don't arrive, a £120 charge lands, and customer service response varies from immediate resolution to drawn-out requests for card details that go nowhere. It's a known problem that Grammarly hasn't visibly addressed. The aggressive premium upsell throughout the interface also sits uneasily against a student user base that the product clearly markets to. Three stars. The core tool has real value. The AI layer, billing practices, and interface behaviour need a serious rethink.

I WAS DECEIVED BY GRAMMARLY. THEY GAVE ME A FREE TRIAL AND WHEN I WENT TO CANCEL IT, THEY EXTENDED THE TRIAL AND ADVISED THAT I SHOULD NOT WORRY; THEY WILL SEND A REMINDER BEFORE THE PAYMENT DUE DATE. HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT SEND A REMINDER AND CHARGED ME A WHOLE YEAR SUBSCRIPTION £120. I HAD NO INTENTION OF KEEPING THE SUBSCRIPTION.I CANT AFFORD IT. I NEED THE PAYMENT REVERSED. THE ABOVE WAS SENT TO GRAMMARLY ON THE 15TH OF APRIL 26 AND THEY HAVE NOT BOTHERED TO RESPOND TO MY EMAIL.

IT'S GETTING WORSE!!!!!!!. Your extension used to be very helpful. It is now overtaken by unnecessary AI add-ons. I have noticed that it overcorrects my sentences and even introduces mistakes that weren't there, only to immediately correct them and completely change the intended sentence structure, which likely makes the user lose confidence and continue using the application. What used to be great for proofreading is now becoming increasingly annoying to use. Please fix this bug and give your users to option to use only the basic version.
Hi Lauren, Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We'd be happy to look into this. Instantly wasn't impressed so cancelled and uninstalled after less than a day. The app then took money from my bank. I objected with the bank, citing cooling off period and having not actually used the product. Grammarly apparently objected to this and have retained the money. No way of getting in touch to argue my case. I'm out of pocket for something I didn't use.
Hi, We are sorry to hear you had trouble trying to contact our Support team. You can always submit your request here: http://gram.ly/3gSJ5wO We’re looking forward to receiving your response and resolving this issue. Thank you, Grammarly Support Team
I have been using Grammarly Pro for a few months now, and I can honestly say that it's a magical tool, especially for someone like me who has dyslexia.
Had high hopes for this. However.....Very bad experience. ⚠️ So disappointed. Big mistake! First they track your work. They have something called Authorship (or whatever they call it). Looks innocent enough until you discover that they attach to everything you write in your computer and send reports...(unbelievable). Also they make uninstalling their stuff very very difficult. I had to use AI to help me with that! Then they delayed my subscription refund and when I did receive it (upon request), it was only partial. Please save yourself and go with something else... especially if it's for professional purposes. I wish I saw the reviews here first.⚠️
Hi Cole, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, and we’re sorry that you had a negative experience. By default, Grammarly Authorship does not track your writing activity. If you activate Authorship tracking, you will see the green thumbprint icon in the lower-left corner of the screen in both Google Docs and Microsoft Word. The thumbprint icon will be gray if tracking is not activated. Let us add that Grammarly Authorship does not collect or store any data that is not pertinent to the writing process. In other words, Authorship does not track browsing history or web traffic that does not involve copying text into your clipboard. We care deeply about the satisfaction of our users, and we want to address the issues you reported in order to improve. Please feel free to provide us with more information via http://gram.ly/3gSJ5wO so that we can improve your user experience. In the meantime, we’ve shared your feedback with our leadership team. We look forward to hearing from you and understanding where we can help. Sincerely, Grammarly Support Team
Grammarly continues to charge my credit card despite cancelling my service over a year ago. They do not respond to emails in a timely manner (if ever), and from what I can tell, do not have an active customer service phone number, even for paying customers.
Hi Oliver, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, and we're sorry for this misunderstanding and the delay in our responses. Please note that we do not provide phone support at this time, as we focus on providing high-quality responses by email. Our support team has already reversed your payment. It may take up to ten business days for the refund to appear on your statement, depending on your payment method. If you consider the matter resolved following the refund of your payment and feel that the current review is not an accurate reflection of your service experience, we'd appreciate it if you could update your review and change the rating. Please feel free to contact us at http://gram.ly/3gSJ5wO with any additional questions or concerns you may have. Sincerely, Grammarly Support Team
I use Microsoft Edge as a default browser and have the account logged in to it. But every time I need to change the writing tone in the Windows app, it opens the Chrome one instead. Also, fix your feedback feature. It keeps showing failed to fetch

I did not have a good experience with Grammarly. I was a school teacher and bought an educator subscription. I left the school year early - having surgery shortly after leaving -- I tried to get Grammarly to transfer the duration of my subscription to my personal email instead of my school email because I was no longer working there, and they barraged me with asking for credit card information, date of purchase, how much I paid, etc., etc., In the end, they refused to move the duration of the subscription over to my personal email. I lost all that money and the use of a paid Grammarly subscription. I would not use them again; I cannot recommend them. They really dragged the entire process out and kept giving excuses why they couldn't transfer the balance of the use of the subscription after they said they would, and I tried to be as complete as possible with their questions. I originally asked for a refund, when they said no, I asked if they could let me use what I had left on my personal account, and they said yes, then they were painfully unhelpful, and it was really stressful. This was my experience with them.

They trusted me when I made them aware of an error to cancel my account and then charge me for another year when I have not used it. They are reimbursing me and cancelling the subscription.
The premium suggestions, pop-ups and yellow lines are so irritating that I have deleted my account. It's like having someone sitting next to you nudging your arm every thirty seconds and saying, do you want to buy this, go on, buy it...blah blah blah. No thanks

This is the most horrid application I have ever had the misery of using. It applies itself to every piece of writing I attempt to do, with a cretinous level of formality that promotes a writing style that stinks of bland brevity. It's perfect if you want to sound robotically indifferent.
