HomeExchange is fantastic

HomeExchange is fantastic. Thanks to this site we have been able to find great places to stay during our last trip and host people in our home while we were away. This is such a different way to travel. I love the trust we can have in each other , it reminds us we live in world that is not as unsafe as it seems to be on the news. We look after ech others home as it was our own and we get to spend our miney on beautiful experiences rather than on the accomodation. I highly recommend it.

Love the concept

Love the concept. We had some great exchanges. Went to Berck-sur-Mer in France and had people from Paris in our home. The home in Berck felt so comfortable and everybody we meet is really nice. Looking forward to many more exchanges.

fantastic system but risky invitations

fantastic system, a lot of houses available but you can;t write a negative report about someone if something went wrong. To give a concrete example: a guest left the house without paying the agreed fees for cleaning. I wanted to mention this so other host would know, but homeexchange forbid to say such kind of thing. As such you take a real risk inviting people to your house,

A better and richer holiday experience

A better and richer holiday experience: My husband and I really enjoyed our first reciprocal exchange on the HomeExchange platform. We stayed in a traditional medieval home in a village in the Saja-Besaya National Reserve in Cantabria, Spain. The best thing about HomeExchange is that the experience of staying in someones home feels completely different to other ways of travelling. We felt more immersed in the culture and traditions of the area and enjoyed the closeness to local life and people. While we were in northern Spain our hosts were enjoying being at our apartment in the Costa Dorada on the mediterranean sea. It was a better and richer holiday experience and at zero cost. We are already planning our next exchange. The HomeExchange platform is well designed, well run, easy to use and effective and its staff actively support members if there are any problems or queries. We would definately recommend HomeExchange !

Home exchange made easy

In a day and age when most platforms seem to be getting more about making more money for their stakeholders, and less about the user satisfaction, it is refreshing to see HomeExchange providing a great user experience. Both the website and the app are well done, and easy to use. There are no hidden fees, and by just subscribing, creating a full profile, making one's home available for exchanges, and paying the yearly fee one gets enough points to start exchanging. With my points, I managed to find two exchanges and stayed in very well located and comfortable apartments for 6 days in Madrid and 4 days in Barcelona. I highly recommend HomeExchange !

Home Exchange Versus Airbnb

I've belonged to Home Exchange for many years now and have had several wonderful experiences and only a few bad ones with other members on the platform. I only have a couple of criticisms, the main one being that over the years, the business in general has become more monetized and transactional and less about the experience of exchange. I liked the old system of balloons as compared with the Guest Point model and I don't like how much emphasis is placed on valuing your house as if it was an Airbnb. Perhaps there should be a seperate site or just more of a separation of the two modes. Exchanging your primary residence is a very different cup of tea than accumulating guest points for your second home investment. I would imagine that many home exchange enthusiasts shun the Airbnb-ification of our major cities and the havoc it has wreaked on local housing markets which is why they do reciprocal exchange in the first place.

Overall I find Home Exchange…Worthwhile

Overall I find Home Exchange worthwhile. I am a fairly new member, so still adapting to the website. I have offered a few suggestions on how to simplify it (put color code key on the calendar pages - I can never remember what each color signifies, for example!) to make things clearer. We have exchanged homes for 30 years now, but with another organization and love exchanging. I do find their "insurance" policy in case of a cancellation lacking - $120 /night is very low - especially in the summer. They have been pretty receptive when I am in contact.
