The VOIP service sometimes is not…
The VOIP service sometimes is not connected but there is no indication it is not connected e.g. not email or text message and the Ooma unit's LED display is purple indicating it is operational. I have backup power for the ONT. Router and Ooma unit so any power hits I may get are isolated from my internet connection. Because this situation has accrued several times I do not recommend the Ooma service if reliable and life line service is required required. I'm also in an area with no reliable cell phone service however I use WiFi calling for my cell phone which I find more reliable than the Ooma service. The most positive comment is the low cost for the Ooma service only if the Ooma connection was more reliable than I would recommend it.

Hi Ray, We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this must be. We’d like to look into this right away and help work toward a resolution. Our escalation team will follow up within 24 business hours.
Switching to Ooma has saved me a significant amount of money compared to my previous land-line service provider. I purchased the premier service package and an Ooma handset. I have 2 complaints with this service. First, and most frustrating is the handset. Occasionally, it loses its connection to the base unit even though we keep it in the same location in our kitchen every day and on the charging base. When this happens calls do not come through and you can't call out until you reset the handset. With no interruption to our internet service, I can see no reason this should happen except poor design or components. The more minor issue I have is there seems to be a delay when speaking with someone on the device. And, I'm talking about someone located in the same city, not across the world. Otherwise, it has saved me $$ and the annoyances are not enough (yet!) to make me want to switch back to an over-priced landline service.
