The tour I was able to secure was great. Just a small group but our guide was amazing so we all had a fun day-in spite of the crazy amount of rain we endured! I only wish I could have found another excursion to go on while there! Thanks.

DO NOT USE VIATOR.

If you are going to book the Guinness tour do NOT book through Viator. Our flight was delayed by 9 hours due to technical issues which were completely out of our control, so we rang to try and change our booking as it meant we would miss it. The Guinness storehouse said that we could change the booking no problem, but because we booked through Viator we had to do it through them. However when I rang Viator, they said we couldn’t change it and we can’t get a refund either, EVEN though the actual guinness storehouse said we could. Very poor service, nearly £100 wasted because we booked through this company, will NEVER use again.

Informative and easy to book tours with Viator. We have used their service to book tours in Europe multiple times, we have not been disappointed and will continue to use them.

Please be careful with this company

Please be careful with this company. We had a tour booked with them for many months before our trip, tickets were all saved on the phone. We turned up at the meeting point only to find that they hadn’t booked us on the tour. There was nothing they could do! Completely ruined the start of our trip and the children were devastated. No one from the company called to apologise and no compensation was offered. I would be extremely careful booking with them. Customer service was awful

Terrible (and Greedy) Customer Service

I used viator for many tours happily but when one tour failed because we were provided the wrong meeting location and were unable (as a result) to find that tour, I saw another side to this company. We were denied a refund even though the issue was not our fault. Then, when we left an honest review, they took that review down with no real explanation. I was sincerely shocked at how bad their customer service was. I won’t use viator again.

Viator is my go to for all activities when I travel. Love their recommendations and accurate advice. You can use this with confidence.

Viator

Wonderful

Our guide for this tour was Helena. She was very professional, knowledgeable and showed us the best food places in Porto while explaining the history of the city. Would definitely recommend booking this tour if you’re in Porto.

Misleading Pricing

Website showed $55.65/person for a Tower of London tour. After booking and paying for our group of 13 people, we were charged $145.person. Called Viator customer service who told me there was nothing I could do but cancel the tour. We did. Booked at straight through the Tower of London for less than $50/person.

Stole my money

Stole my money. No service provided. I booked a week in advance. When I called ahead on the day of the tour, they said all seats were booked and that I and my family were not included. They said they never got the money from Viator. Viator said they sent the money. Either way, someone stole $120.00. And I'm not in the mood to spend time listening to Viator and OC Hopper point fingers at each other.

Cancelled Before Our Trip, But Viator Kept Selling It

I booked a Catamaran Cruise to Île aux Bénitiers a couple of weeks in advance for the penultimate day of my stay in Mauritius. A few days before the trip, I messaged the tour operator with a simple question about the pick-up arrangements, only to be told that they would not be able to accommodate us. Seriously? After planning my holiday around this excursion, I was informed just three days before that it wasn't happening. What was I supposed to do with so little time left to find an alternative? Even more concerning, if I hadn't contacted them, would I have been waiting at 5am for a pick-up that was never going to arrive? What makes this even more frustrating is that the exact same excursion was still being advertised and accepting bookings on Viator just two days before my scheduled trip. If there was no availability, why was it still being sold? To make matters worse, although I received a refund, I still lost around $20 in currency conversion fees because I had paid in GBP. I was left out of pocket through no fault of my own. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend either Viator or this catamaran tour. If this is how cancellations are handled, I'd think twice before booking.

One Star buyer beware!

One Star – Buyer Beware I booked multiple tours through Viator for what was supposed to be our bucket-list family vacation through Italy and Spain. I specifically chose a third-party booking platform because I assumed that if something went wrong, they would advocate for their customers. Instead, I experienced three major issues, and in every case Viator’s response was essentially, “Here’s your refund,” or “Good luck.” Issue #1: A tour that cost well over 10 times what it should have was canceled only 1½ weeks before our scheduled date. Yes, we received a refund, but that doesn’t replace a once-in-a-lifetime experience when you’re traveling internationally with very little time to find an alternative. We were fortunate enough to find another reputable tour, but we still missed out on the original bucket-list experience we had planned months in advance. What I don’t understand is why customers are often subject to strict cancellation policies and penalties, yet when the tour operator cancels, there is virtually no accountability. Viator offered a 20% off coupon that didn’t even work when we tried to use it. That felt more insulting than helpful. Issue #2: Another tour operator canceled because the guide was reportedly sick. Our choices were to accept a refund or keep our admission tickets and go on our own. We had paid nearly $200 for what ultimately became self-guided tickets that anyone could have purchased for approximately €25 per person. Again, there was no meaningful assistance or effort from Viator to make things right. Issue #3 (the final straw): We arrived early for our scheduled museum tour with the voucher provided by Viator, only to discover it was not an actual admission ticket. We spent nearly 30 minutes standing outside while watching everyone else check in and enter on time. During that time we repeatedly messaged the tour operator through the Viator app, sent text messages, and called multiple times with no response. We also contacted Viator while this was happening. Eventually, our tickets arrived approximately 30 minutes late. Viator later told us we could simply use the tickets “any time.” That completely misses the reality of traveling internationally. Vacations operate on carefully planned schedules. You cannot simply rearrange an entire day because a ticket provider failed to deliver tickets before the scheduled tour. If the exact date, time, number of adults, and number of children must all be selected during booking, then I expect those tickets to be delivered on time. I also cannot understand why Viator would not hold the supplier accountable for failing to provide tickets before the scheduled tour began. After spending thousands of dollars booking experiences through Viator, I expected a company that would stand behind its customers when problems occurred. Instead, I found a platform that simply processes refunds while leaving travelers to deal with the consequences of missed experiences, wasted vacation time, and unnecessary stress. We still have a few Viator tours remaining on this trip only because changing plans in the middle of an international vacation would be even more disruptive. Once those are complete, we will not book through Viator again. There are too many alternatives available today to justify paying premium prices for so little customer advocacy. Buyer beware.

Viator Customer Services are absolutely awful when it comes to helping product owners overcome even the most basic issues. I list a tour on this platform and the total lack of care, interest and desire to help is unacceptable. I need a manager to contact me as a matter of urgency…

Extremely Disappointed with Viator’s Customer Service

I am extremely disappointed with the way Viator handled my complaint. The tour started with a significant delay caused by the tour operator. We were not able to enter at the scheduled time, and this delay was completely outside of our control. As a direct consequence, our visit was seriously impacted, and we were unable to enjoy the experience as advertised. Even worse, the delay caused us to miss part of our planned visit to the Vatican, where we already had another timed reservation later that afternoon. We had carefully planned our day, and the operator’s delay disrupted our entire itinerary. I contacted Viator, explained the situation in detail, and requested a refund. Despite providing all the relevant information, my request was denied. I then asked for a second review, hoping they would fairly consider the circumstances. Instead, I received another generic response stating that the decision was final, without addressing the actual issues I had raised. What disappointed me most was not only the refusal to provide a refund, but the complete lack of accountability and genuine customer care. When a tour operator fails to deliver the service as promised, customers should not be left to bear the consequences. I expected much better from a company with Viator’s reputation. Unfortunately, my experience showed that, when problems occur, customer satisfaction is not treated as a priority. I will think twice before booking through Viator again and cannot recommend the platform based on my experience.
