Horrible

We booked a guided Eiffel Tower tour through Viator and arrived 15 minutes early as instructed. When we got there, there was a fire near the meeting point we’d been told to use, and it was completely unclear where we were supposed to go instead. We tried calling the contact number over and over, and reached out through every channel we could think of. No answer, no guide in sight, nothing. We spent 45 minutes standing around trying to get hold of someone, with zero help from Viator or the local operator. Then, out of nowhere, we got a message saying we had “missed the checkpoint” and that we were not eligible for a refund. No acknowledgment of the fire, no attempt to help us find the group, nothing. Just a flat refusal. If your meeting point becomes inaccessible due to something like a fire, the least you can do is have a way to actually reach your guide or update customers in real time. Instead we got silence for 45 minutes and then blamed for a problem that was entirely on their end. Extremely disappointed. Poor service, poor communication, and no accountability. Would not book through Viator again.

Be incredibly careful when booking with Viator. We have made several trouble free bookings however in February we booked tickets to the Louvre Paris , when we arrived at the allocated meeting place, no one there. Called them.. no, no meeting point you go straight in. Walked to our timed entry 2pm to be told by the manager the ticket was NOT valid, it’s not the Louvre ticket at all. All evidence presented from Viator in two distressing calls from Paris I had to make. Viator say oh it’s valid, the Louvre No, can you imagine the embarrassment and disappointment. Have requested a full refund and as yet waiting for a response. Utterly unacceptable service and we went straight to GET YOUR GUIDE to rebook.

Paris Cruise Cancelled by Viator- no refund

We booked a Paris Cruise through Viator for 4 of us, we turned up for the Cruise but the staff would not let us board as they said that it had been cancelled on us the night before? We received no apology or refund of our money. So I would not use this booking Site again!

Tickets to Salem walking tour

I booked tickets to History and Hauntings of Salem walking tour. I had a great experience through Viator and the tour was top notch.

I ended up paying $130 more than Viator quoted!

I booked a bike tour after asking what the upcharge would be for use of e-bikes on the tour. Viator assured me it would be a total of $186. Common sense made me ask the question and take screen shots. But it still cost me $130 extra for the e-bikes! The tour operators took copies of my screen shots showing my question and Viator’ answer. Our Toonie Tour of Calgary was great but Viator is not.

Viator provides quality excursions/experiences for a reasonable price

I have used Viator several times in the last year and a half. I have been very happy with all aspects of their provided services and associated vendors. Communication, follow-up, support for changes, vendor quality, and value of excursions/experiences are all very high quantity. My last experience, June 2026, was a whale watching excursion in Juneau, Alaska. The tour company, Alaska Tales, provide a wonderful experience with a spacious, comfortable boat and very capable, knowledgeable staff. We saw a significant number of whales and othe wildlife while the naturalist and other crew provided detailed information about what we were seeing. My expectations were far exceeded.

Book Ahead

I was being able to pre-book our tours ahead without having to pay until shortly before the actual tour date. This really helped make our planning easier and allowed us to budget accordingly.

I had an awful experience with Viator

I had an awful experience with Viator. The tour time was changed, and as soon as I found out about the change, I tried to cancel because the new time no longer worked for me. The website showed a 24-hour cancellation policy, but then the company claimed a different policy applied. What made this even worse was being sent in circles. Viator told me to contact the tour operator, and the tour operator told me to contact Viator. No one would take responsibility. I requested a refund because the time was changed on me, but they would not provide one. This is completely unreasonable. Customers should not be punished when the tour time is changed and the new time does not work. Be very careful before booking through this company, because if something goes wrong, they may refuse to help and leave you stuck with the charge.

We paid 438

We paid 438. For a 20 min. Boat ride in a thunderstorm. It was raining way too hard to continue the walking part. Our total view was the back of a crowd trying to see through foggy windows. I would take my chances and pay way less at the sight.

Had a fantastic tour with John in Bath…

Had a fantastic tour with John in Bath around the city and then onto the baths. He was so welcoming and very knowledgeable. This was the first tour iv been on and this had set the bar high for the future

BE CAREFUL

BE CAREFUL, don't book through them! Here I share my experience in case it can prevent others from falling into the same situation. I booked my visit on 17 June because visiting the Domus Aurea in Roma was a dream for both me and my children. As a single mum, I carefully planned our holiday months in advance. I booked our flights early and reserved this tour (3.45) well ahead of time to make sure we wouldn't miss out. I received a booking confirmation for our tour on 9 August, with all the details of our visit. Today, 25/07, only a short time before our trip, I received an email saying that the tour had been cancelled, with no explanation. When I contacted customer support, I was told it was due to issues with availability at the site and that there was nothing they could do. What made the situation even more frustrating was that Viator was still advertising a much more expensive virtual tour for the same attraction on its website. When I asked why, I was told that it was operated by a different company, even though it was being sold through the Viator platform. Because our stay in Rome is only two nights, there is now no availability for another Domus Aurea tour during our visit. This means we have completely lost the opportunity to visit one of the places we were most excited about. I understand that cancellations can sometimes happen. However, cancelling a confirmed booking so close to the travel date, without offering a suitable alternative or any meaningful assistance, is extremely disappointing. Families plan holidays around these bookings, especially when tickets for popular attractions are limited. Now I have to tell my children that we won't be able to visit a place they have been looking forward to for months. As a single mum, I put a great deal of time, effort and money into making this holiday special. This experience has left me feeling that confirmed bookings through Viator are not as reliable and I would recommend to avoid using them. If you're planning your itinerary around a Viator booking, be aware that even a confirmed reservation may be cancelled, and you could be left without any realistic alternative.
