Overpriced and customer service frustrating

I've been using Zen Business since 2020 and just now realizing how much they're over-charging me. I personally prefer to hire a registered agent for privacy reasons so I will keep that subscription but they roped me into "worry free compliance" which is anything but worry-free and absurdly expensive. It costs about $30 to file the annual report, which I still have to pay even after paying Zen Business $199 per year to basically just email me to let me know that I have to file the report. It also covers two amendments per year, which cost about $10 each if I am to file them myself. On top of that, their system for cancelling services is very convoluted. First, you have to call a customer service representative and wait on hold for several minutes. However, they can't actually cancel the subscription for you so you then have to wait on hold again for someone else who can. I was also told I couldn't cancel my subscription for an LLC because I needed a registered agent. But I can be my own registered agent so why are they gatekeeping and not letting me cancel? I was able to resolve the issue and the people I spoke to were friendly, but overall I would use this service with caution and really look into what you are getting for what you pay. I finally learned how easy it is to do most of this on my own and will be saving a lot of money that way.

Read this first if you are going to use Zenbusiness

I have registered 5 companies with Zenbusiness and will never register a company with them again. They have an underhanded way of automatically putting you into a Pro-compliance plan, hiding it deeply in their web site portal so that you wouldn't know it unless you were told where it is, and auto charging you without giving you notice they are doing it, I have been filing all my compliance documents (30 mins a year) called and cancelled my scriptions and they say I never called and they can't credit me for billing me $800 a year, eventhough they didn't do anything because I have been doing it myself. I happen to see the latest charge for $200 hit my card and called them and they told me they would credit that even though they aren't supposed to but they wouldn't credit anything else, that that is my problem, BEWARE they set up everything to hide this from you and you will not get your money back.

Hidden Subscription was charging me secretly for months for something I didn't sign up for. I was happy with the product and simplicity of using it, but I regret it and wish I had just found it through the state directly. Used zen business for convenience, and while it was more easy up front, their secret hidden subscription has actually made it more difficult for me in the long run. You can't get any issues solved with customer service unless you call, which I'm dreading because I know for fact its going to be an insufferable AI voice thats going to waste my time instead of just giving me a refund.
