Asia Odyssey Ashley planned a fantastic 11 day China Jiangnan region and Huangshan for our family of 4 with tween and teen kids. It was customized to our request and we even changed region twice during planning. Yet, they were patient with us and revised the quote and itinerary. We opted for a whirlwind tour to see multiple cities in quick succession using high speed train for transfer, and tour guides in each city.
Our tour guide Gary in Huangshan is THE BEST. So experienced, knowledgeable,and locally well connected, in addition to being flexible and quite to adapt when weather closed 2 of 3 cable car routes. Our tour guides Spike in Hangzhou and Bruce in Suzhou are excellent too. They know the history and culture of the places we went very well. Our tour guide Jolie in Shanghai is very cheerful and caring. All of them helped us through things unique to China that we struggled with (eg epay). Ashley was also there to help when my return flight was brought forward due to impending typhoon resulting in the need to book a last minute hotel. A big benefit of having a custom tour like this is definitely for the unexpected, like when I melted my kids' sneakers in the hotel dryer and we had to buy new sneakers for an upcoming Huangshan hike!

I can honestly say that my 26day 3 country trip was the experience of a lifetime. My point of contact was
Blair Liang. She was able to make last minute changes to the trip to accommodate me on several occasions.
I can't praise the guides enough. Lucia in Xian showed
me the terracotta army. But she also took me to a Chinese dinner theater. (That was not part of the itinerary) She is awesome. Tony in Chengdu took me to see the panda bears after which he brought me to a city park that was full of unexpected and amazing sights. He even took the time to take me for a foot massage. The next stop was Beijing. Mr. Jimmy struggled mightily to push me in a wheelchair up a mountain to the Great Wall. He is a hero.
Ms. Nina in Bangkok fought the crowds to help me get my wheelchair through. She is never stopped being helpful. In Chiang Mia and Chaing Rai Ms. Vicky is a delightful person, and the team Moo Moo (wheelchair assistant) and Pea Pea (driver) showed me some of the most unforgettable portions of the trip.
In Hong Kong I asked for a last-minute tour of the city
Where I met Ms. Ma, she showed me the sites and highlights. After the tour was over, she came the next day on her own time to take me to a laundry mat so that I wouldn't go home with a suitcase full of dirty close. All of these people deserve recognition, commendation, and praise.

WE had two private tours organised by Asia Odyssey; one through Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and the second thru Turkmenistan. We had a fantastic holiday. Isaac our agent was very responsive right from the start. We made many changes to dates and places in the planning stage and he always responded in a very timely manner and nothing was too hard. He also stayed in contact throughout the trip ensuring everything was going along smoothly. In Uzbekistan, Jamolov Kamolxo'ja was also very helpful and ensured all the transfers were spot on. We crossed many borders in this trip and always found the new car, driver and guide were waiting for us at the other side of the border. The co-ordination arrangements made by those two gentlemen were absolutely perfect. Some of the drivers did not speak english but they were all experienced and professional drivers navigating sometimes extremely winding roads along mountains. We would like to single out Ahmad in Kyrgyzstan; FaisulAli in Tajikistan and two Merdans in Turkmenistan. The guides were all very informative, pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Again, we would single out May (on her first solo tour) in Kyrgyzstan, BekNodir in Kokand who also initiated interesting conversations, Davron with his sense of humour in Tajikistan and Ahmed in Turkmesniatn who was very responsible and ensured all our details were met and his help and the borders.

This was our first time having a private tour arranged for 8 of us, so I was a little skeptical at how it would all work. But I found Asia Odyssey Travel online and Cecilia our agent was great. She was easy to work with and was able to come up with a great itinerary that fit the dates we wanted in Korea and Japan.
The guides that they found for us were awesome! Song picked us up from the airport and taught us a few useful Korean words since this was our first time in the country. Jung was our tour guide in Seoul and she was so knowledgable and even gave us some great recommendations for lunch places at the Gwangjang Food Market. Kassy was our guide in Gyoengju & Busan. She told us many stories about the places we were going and made sure to hit all the great photo spots.
Kevin was our guide from Osaka to Tokyo. As he was with us all the entire time we were in Japan, even on the Shinkansen, he made it so easy to travel from one place to another since he knew what to do. He was also great at changing the itinerary at the last minute to avoid the double typhoon that was hitting Japan while we were there. So although we weren't able to see Hakone and Mt Fuji, his alternative itinerary kept us safe and out of the rain and we all still had fun.
This was such a great tour that we would definitely think about using Asia Odyssey Tours to arrange another tour for us. They all worked hard and earned this 5 star rating!

Kevin's stretch through Japan deserves particular mention — staying with your group from Osaka to Tokyo, including the Shinkansen legs, is exactly the kind of continuity we value, and his quick rework of the itinerary to steer you clear of two typhoons speaks to the resourcefulness we ask of every guide on the ground.
This is the heart of what we try to offer — not simply a fixed schedule, but a team able to adapt in real time when circumstances demand it, so that safety and enjoyment are never in conflict. Missing Hakone and Fuji is a disappointment, but keeping your group dry, safe, and still genuinely enjoying the trip is the outcome that matters most.
