Hi everyone, we are a couple from New Zealand, 54 & 61. We booked a mini tour in Beijing -Xian on our way home from Europe. We had 4 nights of accomidation, 2 in Beijing and 2 in Xian. The hotels were beautiful. Meals both lunch and breakfast were perfect. Our guides were the best we havd had in the world! They annwered all of our questions and told us great information. They also allowed us to modify our tour on the go as we were tired and the heat was a bit much. We were there August 4-9. If you are taking the bullet train to Xian try to get it during daylight as it was great to look at the country side. I would upgrade to business class for the lounge and seats like in business class on the plane, this is above first class seats on the train. We are not great at standing in cue's but we copped, my advise would be to checkout when school holidays are in China, try not to be there then, or go early in the mornings. Ask Odyssey if they can advise you. Also for the ladies, if you are getting dressed up in Hanfu? pay extra (120 ish yaun) and get the hair and makeup! I was most surprised at how beautiful, clean and well orginised Beijing and Xian are, the rest of the world could learn from China. Thank you

We (9 of us ranging in age from 80+ grandmother to 16 year old) went on a spectacular 3 week trip in China. We had 5 guides over 6 cities and want to mention 2 guides in particular - Xenia (Zhangjiajie) and Ashley (Chongqing) were fabulous. They were knowledgeable, thoughtful, fun, accommodating and spoke English well. We encountered some flight and health challenges for the Zhangjiajie part of our trip and Xenia truly went above and beyond in helping us deal with the challenges, such as getting us some medication at midnight, bringing food to us at the airport because the flight had been delayed and she knew we'd be hungry, doing a second tour for us later in the day because some of missed the tour due to a health issue earlier in the day, etc. etc.. Highly, highly recommend both Xenia and Ashley - I hope to be able to tour with them to other cities in the future. The other cities we went to were Chendu, Jiuzhaigu, Yangtze River cruise and Xian. Fantastic cities and fantastic trip all around. Isaac organized the trip and was very responsive.

I was on a tour to Mt Kailash in July 2026. Midway during the tour I encountered high attitude sickness. 3-day Beijing and 2-day Xi'an private tours as first-time visitors to China
As first-time visitors to China, we were initially concerned about finding a suitable English-speaking tour provider for our family. I was on a combination of tours from Vietnam to Kathmandu, passing through Cambodia and Thailand, all organised by Mandy from Asia Odyssey Travel. 14 Days Miraculous Nature Wonders Tour is Absolutely Worth It!
We have safely return home from an UNFORGETTABLE trip in China! My daughters and I really enjoyed the 14 days Miraculous Nature Tour arranged by Asia Odyssey Travel ~ starting from seeing the cute pandas in Chengdu and a visit to Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan Province was MAGNIFICENT!
Cruising along the Li River and seeing the STUNNING karst mountains of Guilin, to bike riding in the country side while soaking up the views of Yangshuo’s idyllic village life were all very MEMORABLE!
One major highlight was visiting Zhangjiajie, seeing the ‘Avatar Hallelujah Mountains’ in person was UNBELIEVABLE! The zip-lining experience down the mountains was truly EXHILARATING! And the ride up to Tianmen Mountain… how MAJESTIC this place was until we ascended to the very top and WOW!!!
Our final destination to the highly anticipated Chongqing ~ famous for its unique ‘cyberpunk’ aesthetic, was oh so MAGICAL! Seeing the illumination ceremony at Hongya Cave and watching the Chongqing 1949 show were all SPECTACULAR!!!
The fun-filled itinerary arranged by Asia Odyssey Travel was well thought out and organized. The tour guides from each stop have been great as well. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge two exemplary tour guides:

Asia Odyssey did an incredible job with arranging our private tour of Beijing. Rex (our consultant) made sure all our needs were met. He always kept us updated on the status of our tour in the days leading to it. We were the ones deciding on what we wanted in our itinerary and things were never forced on us, which is truly wonderful as we felt like we were in full control of our trip. Our tour guide, Linda, who was assigned to us had great knowledge of the places we went to, including it's history as well as more fun facts. We feel that this is very important as travelling should mostly be learning about that country and its culture. Rex, Linda and even our driver had a friendly demeanor and they treat you not like clients but like friends. They never hesitated to answer any questions and did their best to give a solution that works out best for us. They were also very flexible. Never did we feel rushed to go from one place to another to follow a time schedule. We enjoyed the tour at our pace, which is huge thing for us.
So in conclusion, let me say that acquiring their services is was probably one of the best decisions we made not just for this most recent trip but for all our trips ever. Excellent value for money for stress free family travel in China
Allan was our travel consultant for organising tours in Beijing and Zhangjiajie. We could not fault his service at all. Communication was excellent. He knew exactly what would suit us based on what we wanted to do and the time we had to do it. The trips organised were exceptional. We had excellent English speaking guides and the vehicles provided were very comfortable for our family of 5. Having a private tour meant that the tour guide was flexible according to our needs. The restaurants we were taken to for lunch were always local establishments and our guide helped us to navigate the menu with ease. Our guides were also happy to help after the yours finished, continuing with recommendations. What was particularly good is that our accommodation changed last minute and Allan was able to change the pick up location with no issue. The trips offered great value for money and I would highly recommend them to take the stress and hassle out of travelling in China, especially if this is your first time and you have younger children.

Cecilia from Asia Odyssey is able to arrange for our Tibet trip despite us booking less than a month before our trip. And Cecilia is able to arrange both lower sleeper bed for our train ride from Chengdu to Lhasa. Cecilia also help us with our Wechat payment which is very commonly used in China since we are unable to activate the Wechat Pay on our mobile app. All our trips were arranged without any glitches and we enjoyed our holidays without any worries. I had a wonderful experience on the 5-day Tibet tour. As a foreign traveler, I really enjoyed joining a Chinese-speaking tour group. It was a unique cultural experience, and with only a small number of participants, the trip felt comfortable, relaxed, and personal. I learned a lot.
Although the itinerary focused on Lhasa and the beautiful Yamdrok Lake, it was very well organized and offered a fantastic introduction to Tibet's unique culture, history, and breathtaking landscapes.
