Reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Travelers frequently praise the dedicated team for creating highly personalized itineraries, noting that advisors remain exceptionally patient, responsive, and professional when organizing complex multi-city holidays. Consumers also deeply appreciate the seamless logistics, comfortable transport, and the outstanding assistance provided by knowledgeable local guides and drivers at every single destination.
Some reviewers were not happy with minor communication barriers regarding English proficiency, encountering an occasional distracted guide or receiving less detailed historical explanations during excursions. These specific issues with communication and guide engagement were occasionally noted by participants as areas requiring improvement.
Leeky was very helpful with the planning of the itinerary, flexible in adjusting to match our interests. The trip was very smooth with no wasted time. Our local guides and drivers all there to meet us and ensure we went on to the next stage smoothly. No worries for me at all. Meals were also good, taking into account we can't take food that is too spicy.

Independent tour operators bundled conveniently, some spam
The tours were well organised, but the tour operators were independent - there is no significant difference in quality if you would book a tour using another organisation they work for, or even directly, while being much more expensive. It does save you the time of finding reliable tour guides though.
The main reason I gave four stars is because they send a neverending stream of spam regarding their loyalty programme. I’ve tried to opt out/unsubscribe four times so far, but to no avail.
China Highlights 回复2026-09-15
Hi Peter,
I'm glad the tours worked well for you. I'm sorry, however, that you continued to receive loyalty programme messages after repeatedly asking us to stop. You should only have needed to ask once, and we let you down.
We have now stopped all loyalty programme communications to you across all channels and verified that your opt-out is in effect. We're also investigating why the cancellations we processed in our system failed to stop the messages, so we can address the cause and prevent this from happening again.
You don't need to take any further action. If you would like to contact me, you can reach me directly at [email protected].

A journey with many highlights planned in every detail
Carrie Zhang from China Highlights was very attentive from the very beginning. She planned every detail of the trip asking us what were our wishes and expectations. We had very nice tour guides in every place who were the bridge to communicate and to get to know more about every place we visited. They knew where to avoid tourist crowds as far as possible and showed us beautiful spots and also where to have good and authentic food. All together it was a very enriching trip and we will certainly travel with them again—without any doubt. A very positive experience in any sense!! I highly recommend China Highlights!!

This is the third time that I have used China Highlights. They always provide a fabulous experience and have the best tour guides. Our guide in Shanghai, Chee, was incredible. She was so generous of her time and knowledge. She really made our time in Shanghai exceptional.

Exceptional Service from Leon and the China Highlights Team!
Leon created a fantastic customized itinerary for our group of 11. He took great care of all our needs, especially ensuring we had great vegetarian food options and staying in top-quality hotels. Every tour guide provided—in Chengdu, Zhangjiajie, and Beijing—was outstanding. I highly recommend Leon for anyone planning a customized group trip to China!

As far as booking, it was easy and agent was responsive. I will wait for the trip to see if we go to authentic places, it we avoid huge lines, the food, if hotels are far from main attractions.
I was able to develop our new comprehensive holiday itinerary with the same advisor that had helped us to enjoy a fabulous month long trip in China last year.
We have great confidence that our new trip will be just as fantastic as our previous one with the super guides and team at China Highlights.

Had a great experience with Leon Long at China Highlights
Had a great experience with China Highlights for our six days tour in China. The tour senior operator Leon Long did an exceptional job. All arrangements were picture perfect. He is very flexible, very reliable, easily accessible, and well experienced. Everything went as per plan. Execution was excellent.
My wife and I completed a 7-day Tour of China and came back. Visited Chengdu, Zhangjiajie and Beijing. We were quite pleased with every aspect of the Tour. Tour guides were knowledgeable with the local history and landmarks, and were able to communicate very well in English. They made sure to take care of our vegetarian food requirement. Overall coordinator Leon did a nice job of communicating all our requirements to the local tour guides for a smooth streamlined experience.

Our China tour was coordinated by Mr Leon -
He had planned it meticulously and always available to take suggestions - When one of the flights was canceled he immediately informed and made alternative plans
Personally I reached out to him for some advise as my was unwell and he provided me some useful guidance
All of his support staff who helped in the various regions were very friendly and helpful
Thanks Leon

An unforgettable family lifetime experience thanks to Loreto and our amazing guide in Zhangjiajie!
We are a family of four (mom, dad, and two daughters aged 10 and 13) who recently traveled to Chengdu, Zhangjiajie, Shanghai, and Beijing. We booked a full tour with CHINA HIGHLIGHTS, and Loreto was our travel coordinator. Traveling to China as a family without knowing the language is highly challenging. Initially, I looked into local tours on platforms like Viator or Airbnb—where I’ve had great experiences in Europe—but China is a whole different world. The language and cultural barriers are massive, requiring a specialized approach for a smooth experience. Fortunately, we found Loreto. Her Spanish is flawless, her communication is constant and concise, and her responses are immediate. While the service might seem pricey compared to tours in Europe or the Middle East, it is worth every single penny. Our goal was to maximize our time and avoid the stress of figuring out transport, lines, and entrances; the logistics were flawless and completely stress-free.China is incredibly advanced in technology, safety, and transportation. Outside the major metropolis areas, foreign tourists are not as common, and locals can be a bit reserved at first. However, as long as you respect their country and culture, you will find a deeply warm and fun community. Without guides, figuring this out would have been difficult and full of negative learning curves; with them, everything turned into positive, lifelong memories. The absolute highlights of our trip were Loreto’s coordination and our guide, Fu Chin (José), in Zhangjiajie. He perfectly understood that our main goal was family bonding. His Spanish proficiency and translation skills were the best we encountered on the entire trip. He was punctual, respectful, and always offered us different trail options, guiding us door-to-door with a great attitude. He also gave us the perfect amount of privacy to enjoy family time while staying close by just in case. We connected so well with him that by the third day, my daughters wanted him to be our guide for the rest of China. Our recommendations for future travelers:Chengdu and Zhangjiajie: Do not visit without a guide. These sites are massive, and exploring them on your own would take weeks. A guide helps you experience the absolute best highlights in a single day. Beijing and Shanghai: I highly recommend a guide for the first day to cover the most popular cultural sites. The following days are easy to explore on your own, allowing you to get lost and enjoy the city. The Great Wall: For this specific site, I only recommend booking transportation. Our guide for the Wall didn't add much value; she talked to the driver during the entire 1.5-hour ride, preventing us from resting, and only pointed out the restroom lines. She even gave us incorrect information, claiming there were no restrooms or places to buy water at the top (which is false, as there are both). It felt like she had never actually been up there. Lastly, our trip faced a major disruption due to Typhoon Dolphin, which hit Shanghai right during our visit. A flight and two trains that I had booked independently were canceled. Without Loreto and the China Highlights team, we would have never managed to fix our itinerary and would have missed Shanghai completely. Thanks to their immediate assistance and impeccable management through unpredictable weather, we visited both Shanghai and Beijing with zero issues. We would definitely book with CHINA HIGHLIGHTS again. Their service provided us with comfort, safety, and above all, absolute peace of mind. Highly recommended!

Thank you for this detailed and thoughtful review! We are so happy your family enjoyed your multi‑city China journey. Great credit goes to Loreto for her smooth coordination and to Fu Chin (José) for the wonderful family‑oriented experience in Zhangjiajie. We truly appreciate your honest feedback regarding the Great Wall guide, which we will take seriously for further improvement. We’re also glad our team could quickly rearrange your plans amid the typhoon disruption. Thank you for trusting China Highlights, and we would love to welcome your family back to China someday！
