Thank you for your 5-star review!
Take Command is a SaaS platform that helps companies reimburse employees for health insurance. Offering seamless administration for Individual Coverage HRAs (ICHRAs) and Qualified Small Employer HRAs (QSEHRAs), Take Command was the first end to end ICHRA solution on the market, the first to bring a viable partnership model to brokerage firms, the only HRA administrator invited to the White House when ICHRA was announced, the only company to offer in-house, personalized enrollment support for employees, and a founder of the HRA Council. With clients in all 50 states and clients ranging from 3 to 3,000 employees, Take Command has helped more than 5,000 companies take command of their health benefits. Take Command is proud to be named a best place to work by Modern Healthcare, Builtin, and Dallas Business Journal, and has won countless awards in the startup and innovation sectors.

Most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently mention that the platform is quite straightforward to use, deeply appreciating the knowledgeable staff who patiently guide them through choosing the right insurance plans for their families. Many consumers note that the support team provides clear, rapid answers and genuinely makes managing their health coverage a much smoother process. However, some customers also noted frustrating issues regarding slow response times and difficult website navigation during open enrollment. A few people mentioned struggling with unhelpful automated chatbots and experiencing long delays when attempting to reach live support agents.

Using and navigating the site is super challenging. Very difficult to filter plans into easy to compare bunches or filter out bunches by plan name type, such as Pathway or Slect Plus. Search bar does not work properly. Example, I typed a plan name (Pathway, Select Plus, etc) and it would tell me no plans available. When you clear the name search, it would show those plans in the big group. There should be a "favorites" button so you can store plans to look at again later. The "compare" ability is mildly helpful, but only allows you to keep 4 marked. A "favorites" button would make it easier to narrow down huge variety of choices. Only allowing 9 plans per page also makes it tough to adequately review and compare plans.
Thank you for your feedback. We're examining these opportunities and your suggestions.
This service is so lacking in anything beneficial to an individual. The service is confusing, not conducive to being any help and it often delays reimbursements because the software can't process insurance forms provided by an individual. My company is using this service and I have no way to influence them to change from Take Command
Extremely helpful people and they answered all questions effectively. Thank you.
Thank you for your 5 Star Review!
Company was ok, and then introduced the HRA hub and became a disaster. I no longer recommend TakeCommand to any small businesses. I cannot use the system without requiring a support ticket. They had a bug with "adding a person" which one would generally think is a key feature. It's also been nearly 4 months and they have not processed a change to our eligibility classes.
Aaron was great. He was very helpful and the fact that he could remote into my computer to see what I was looking at was so helpful. That's a great feature. He could help me compare and answer my questions by seeing exactly what I was seeing. My experience was very good.

I agree with one star reviews regarding the inability to talk to anyone about issues with the function of their website, and receiving chat messages over and over again that don't resolve the problems. We joined 2/1/2026, and have already gone with another agency beginning 3/1/2026. Reps give canned responses and after many hours in chats we simply GIVE UP! Worst user experience of any site we have ever seen. Example: Admin site says "shopping", employee site pop-up says "waived". Employees cannot do anything at all. To add a second admin we have been told to access an area of our admin site that doesn't exist.
Everything was handle on a timely manner she took care of things while helping me choosing the right insurance
Thank you for your 5-star review!
This is my second enrollment period with Take Command since the company I work for was forced into an ICHRA. Both times, I have encountered nothing but issues, as have many of my coworkers. From being unable to reach anybody via phone or email, to the fact that they incessantly text and email about problems, but will not explain them or talk directly with you about them. Even when the issues are on their end, they blame you instead of looking at the description you have given them and finding a solution. Avoid at all costs.
Wish there was a ZERO star option. I am not one to post reviews, but my experience with Take Command has been surreal. I have been a client of theirs since 2022. They used to be a good company to work with. Now THEY ARE A JOKE! Want to talk to a human, budget 90 minutes on hold. Want to solve an issue - like basic functioning of their portal, you CANNOT budget enough time for that. I have employees that want to waive coverage but can't because the website won't allow them to get to the appropriate screen and no one at Take Command apparently has a clue to remedy the problem. The most recent guidance has been to enter fraudulent information about bogus qualifying life events to get to a screen where you might be able to find the "waive" button. I have spent hours and hours and hours sitting on hold, sending emails, dialoguing with AI chat bots and am no closer to solving the problem. Oh, and guess what, I bet you the billing mechanism that charges me for all non-waived employees works just fine. We will see. So unbelievably disappointing.
Hi Charles, I'm sorry for your poor experience. We are escalating your issue and will deliver resolution. We will follow up you with updates.
Edit 01/29: After this review someone was able to reach out to me and help me settle things. I'm rating three stars now. The initial communication was still problematic and a format like this seems to leave an extra layer for miscommunication and mistakes with health benefits, but the experience ended well My employer switched to Take Command to handle their healthcare and it has been nothing but a nightmare since. At first the credit promised made my plan look like a great deal. Two months later, I get a collection call from my healthcare provider saying that I owe almost $2000, in essence the full cost of the plan. The take command rep responded by saying that I "Just had to pay it out of my own pocket and the company will reimburse me. I have worked for good and bad companies over almost 30 years and never seen anything close to this tacky of a setup. Please if you are an employer and considering them, be better to your workers. For everyone else, this type of company only exists because we are in a grift economy where only profit margins matter. Look elsewhere if your company switches to them for healthcare.
I have employer provided health, vision and dental insurance through Highmark at no cost to me. I'm having extreme difficulty navigating their vague site and as a result, have lost coverage.I've spoken to HR at my work and she has absolutely no grasp on what is needed to rectify this situation. The worst part? I have an eye procedure scheduled for tomorrow. My second time going through this nightmare. The first scheduled procedure was cancelled due to my having NO coverage at that time as well, even though I was assured that my premium(s) were in fact paid. I have been off of work due to this and It's still unclear what the true issue is?!? If I could rate "Take Command" a zero I absolutely and unapologetically would do so.
We're sorry for the frustration caused. Once you confirm your account/contact information, we can assist you and deliver resolution.
Thank you for the 5-star review!
Take Command wait time to speak to a live agent is 2 hours long. There’s a great amount of misinformation between their Dashboard and actual carrier application. They dropped my dependent upon application submission and did not help with anything to resolve it. You will always get a generic auto response.
Thank you for the 5-star review!
I have been employed by 2 different companies who have used Take Command Health for health insurance. My previous company Take Command accidentally deleted my Autopay account resulting in my having to pay the premium out of pocket and being on a reimbursement plan instead of on an Autopay plan. They did not pay my premium for 3 months, almost resulting in me losing insurance. Fast forward 10 months and my current employer decided to switch to them. They received the premiums from my employer to pay my health insurance plan but have not paid it to the health insurance company yet, leaving me and my toddler without any insurance in the beginning of the year, in the middle of flu season. They apologized for the inconvenience and said they were processing the payment now. Meanwhile, we will not have insurance until the payment has been processed. This company is a scam!
Take Command is clearly a volume business that doesn't expect you to read its documents, much less request corrections. They leave customer service requests unanswered for critical issues, such as incorrect plan documents. We've been trying to get something corrected for over two months. Look elsewhere. My company is going to switch admins next year (or sooner). They are worthless.
Has to be the worst customer service I have ever dealt with, and I have dealt with some pretty bad ones. Trying to get an answer about your case, is like pulling teeth, I give them credit, they are very good on passing the buck to someone else, yet they never get back to you.. When I tell you, if you can avoid this company, I would do so.. I have tried to speak to a live person or manager for over a month, and nothing, I do not even think they have one, this is one of the worst organized and inept company. When I tell you that know one has a clue on what they are doing.. When I tell you that I never write reviews, as I understand that not everyone or company is perfect, but this one takes the cake.. I have never seen something so simple, be so difficult. You do what they ask, and yet they cannot provide you with an answer, they keep saying we will make sure the department is made aware, ok can you tell me what department, oh, the department that handles these type of issues.. CLUELESS!!!! At this point it is just a complete joke and incompetence, I mean if this is how the employees work, can you imagine the ones that are in charge of the company... Please run for your Life...
Onboarding seemed good, with a very helpful rep who explained the options to me. What I didn't realize at the time is that Take Command don't actually distribute the reimbursements. Gusto partner with them, but the process for getting anything automated in payroll is so complex, if it's feasible at all, that I have resorted to manually adding reimburements each month for my employee. My biggest complaint is their non-responsive customer support. I have been asking them repeatedly for almost 2 months to adjust the amount I am reimbursing my employee. They keep saying they will make the change, but 2 months and many emails and chats later, there is still no change. It is very frustrating that I can't adjust it myself in the platform. I have to request that they change the amounts, and my emails seem to go into the void - either no replies at all, or promises to act but no changes made. [ETA: I later learned from other ICHRA providers that it is againt ICHRA rules to make changes to amounts mid-year, so I don't know what Take Command means by making changes anytime, as that is not permitted.] Their marketing says you can make changes anytime, but it's disingenuous to say that - as an employer I can't make changes myself, I have to write an email to suport and request them to make each change. This would be okay if their support team actually made the changes I ask for, but they have not done anything I have asked, and I have asked so many times!! I really feel helpless! I wish Gusto would partner with a different company for this service. I am looking for alternatives to Take Command, since I don't see any advantage of using them with Gusto anyway, as they are not exactly joined up. [Later edit: On talking with a couple of other providers when shopping around for a replacement, I learned some things about how ICHRAs work and what the rules say that Take Command had not explained to me, so unfortunately I am even less confident in them now.]
The online process was exceptionally challenging to navigate and did not reflect a user-friendly or intuitive design, even for professionals familiar with complex digital platforms.
