About this business

Take Command is a SaaS platform that helps companies reimburse employees for health insurance. Offering seamless administration for Individual Coverage HRAs (ICHRAs) and Qualified Small Employer HRAs (QSEHRAs), Take Command was the first end to end ICHRA solution on the market, the first to bring a viable partnership model to brokerage firms, the only HRA administrator invited to the White House when ICHRA was announced, the only company to offer in-house, personalized enrollment support for employees, and a founder of the HRA Council. With clients in all 50 states and clients ranging from 3 to 3,000 employees, Take Command has helped more than 5,000 companies take command of their health benefits. Take Command is proud to be named a best place to work by Modern Healthcare, Builtin, and Dallas Business Journal, and has won countless awards in the startup and innovation sectors.

What people say

So very helpful

The specialist I spoke with was so great. She was patient, helped me compare plans and prescription coverage, explained the difference between coverage under a group plan and under an individual plan. And most importantly she helped me choose a plan best for me and my family's health needs.

Thank you for your 5-star review! We greatly appreciate your positive feedback.

Terrible customer support

Definitely on the short list for the worst support of any company I/my company have ever been a customer of. Take Command omitted some approved expenses from their HRA reimbursement report one month and was utterly useless in helping to resolve the problem. They couldn't / wouldn't provide guidance of how to issue the reimbursements retroactively ("please reach out to customer support for your payroll provider") nor would they even provide assistance in making sure that the relevant 1095s and other tax documents were updated correctly (they suggested that we talk to some 3rd party company which they apparently outsource some documentation requirements to -- but we are not a customer a of this 3rd party and have concerns from a tax / health / privacy standpoint). And to cap it all off this process (which did not result in successfully resolving our problem, which Take Command admits they caused) took months.

We're truly sorry for the experience you had and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We understand how frustrating it is when an issue takes too long to resolve and leaves you without clear guidance. A member of our leadership team will be reaching out to better understand what happened, resolve any remaining concerns, and ensure we learn from your experience. We're committed to using your feedback to improve our processes and provide a better experience for all of our customers.

Take Command is a Scam

As a Take Command customer for more than a year, I consider them a SaaS scam. They provided us virtually no service, other than giving us an initial tax document ChatGPT could have written. Then they charged us thousands of dollars for inactive and terminated employees, and when we caught the mistake, refused to issue a refund because of "our plan." This company is VERY shady and I would avoid them at all costs. Administer your ICHRA yourself, or go with a better, cheaper service like Salusion.

Overall a good experience

Overall a good experience. Only downside is the call backs for team members who needed help. Delays created more anxiety when switching insurances. Alex was very attentive!

Thank you for your feedback -- we're glad Alex was attentive and appreciate your patience as we work on improvements.

Extremely difficult tu use

Extremely difficult tu use. Lack of training in their AI support, I've been looking for a way to cancel the service and there are no references to the simple cancelation form. The AI says to go to billing but there is no way to cancel there. They're always either offline or busy with other customers and I don't have all day to wait and get the account cancelled, I hope at least I get a refund for the service I haven't used nor will be using

Reply from Take Command2026-06-04

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and the frustration you encountered—this is not the experience we aim to provide. Your cancellation request has been processed. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to drive improvements.

Customer Support Very Bad

Their sales reps are easy to work with unsurprisingly. Nothing else has been good after we signed up. If all we needed them to do was approve our expenses and issue us a report, they'd be fine. All the other stuff they promise to do-- they are not prepared to do competently. As an admin, I will say they were particularly not good at resolving issues. Some of their staff are friendly and seem to care, some don't, but either way issues don't get resolved after multiple calls and I get contradictory/wrong info a lot, even on very basic things. This has resulted in our staff lacking health coverage for a period of a month. If I were to do this again I would not choose them, obviously, but in particular I would tell staff not to enroll in plans via their platform.

Atrocious

Atrocious. Used to be good up to 2025. Jumped the shark with their new portal rollout in 2026. Horrible customer care with slow, confusing, contradictory answers, incorrect reimbursement reports, repeated failures to correct errors. Waiting till the end of the year to switch away from them. Do yourself a favor - look elsewhere.

great help!

great help! I wanted to be safe and discuss my selection with a specialist and the experience was very good. Brittany was very helpful, she answered all my questions and explained everything. We got disconnected, but she called right back

Extremely Poor Customer Support

We are a small employer who has been with Take Command for 3 years now. Since we have been switched to the new portal, I would rate this company ZERO stars. Customer Service is non-existent - wasted hours re-explaining issues and still no resolutions. We are now on the fifth month of incorrect allowance reimbursements for our employees.

N o one asked me about how payments we going to be made they did tell me I may not have insurance because I wasn’t making the cut off at 12 but someone would be on touch with me and they actual try to take the payment out of my personal account as of today the payment still hasn’t been drafted. So I don’t know what’s going on and my provider is saying the payment needs to be made.

We’ve had a frustrating experience using the Take Command platform. While the concept is great in theory, the execution has been lacking. The system is not very intuitive, and basic functions like managing employee statuses or resending invites are either difficult to find or unavailable. This has created unnecessary administrative challenges for our team. Additionally, support and flexibility seem limited when trying to resolve common issues, which adds to the overall inefficiency. We were hoping for a smoother, more user-friendly experience, but unfortunately, the platform has not met our expectations.

This is for Stephanie, the best CS specialist!!

This is for Stephanie, a Customer Support specialist, and only for Stephanie. She rocks!! She is so informative about the health insurance plans, the overall application process, and was so quick and efficient with aligning on next steps for my HRA approval. I want to hire her for my own company, she is so good!! Give her a raise!! The other two Customer Support people I spoke with were SO AWFUL and gave me completely incorrect information while having me on hold for 20 minutes. But Stephanie was speedy and solution oriented. Yay Stephanie, thanks girl!!

This company sucks... avoid at all costs.

This company sucks. Their systems are a complete mess. Their service agents don't take any ownership for things they are supposed. Everyone wants to pass the buck to someone else or push you to do it on line where their systems just don't work. It is the absolute worst experience I have had with any company EVER. Stay away.

bad to worse

This company has gone from bad to worse. The customer service is atrocious. They have a bot that gives you wrong information. The reporting is ridiculous now. The wait times to deal with issues are out of control. It seems they are hoping you will give up so they can keep overbilling. They still send out articles that are completely outdated and irrelevant to their current system. BEWARE!!

Maybe one of the worst platforms for… insurance

Maybe one of the worst platforms for your company to take on for insurance. Constant issues. If you have a complex issue the chat assistance will just stop talking to you. They have no way of escalating issues over chat. Our own HR department says what a nightmare take command is. If you are considering this platform for your company run far far away.
