Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about unhelpful staff and poor customer service, noting long wait times and difficulties reaching a live agent through automated systems or chatbots. Travelers also experienced unexpected extra charges and a frustrating booking process that made managing flights and changing schedules extremely difficult.
Though some reviewers were happy with the cabin crew and short-haul flights, a few passengers found the staff to be surprisingly accommodating during unexpected travel situations. Consumers occasionally mentioned that basic flights operated smoothly when everything went according to plan without major disruptions. People noted that clean aircraft and professional onboard personnel improved parts of their journey.
Bought tickets for an internal flight in Thailand before I checked reviews here, and was quiet worried when I saw 1 star reviews. Turned out there was no reason for that, the flight was on time, check-in without problems. A bit narrow seats and no-frills, but for the price I paid I’m very satisfied.
The flight Bamgkok - Siem Reap had a little delay, everything else was fine. I guess the bad reviews mostly result of the fact that only people with bad experiences make the effort to share them.
I came on here because the feedback survey they sent me didn't have the right questions for me to share my experience.
It was brilliant from start to finish. Check in was easy breezy and I was really happy when I boarded and remembered I had booked the quiet zone. This was one of my best flight experiences and was from Auckland to Sydney. Every airline needs to offer a quiet zone it is absolute bliss.
The staff were lovely, professional and helpful and I had the chicken biryani which was nice for a plane meal! It came with a coffee and because I don't take caffeine they offered me an extra bottle of water which was kind.
The flight was delayed which was fine because their communication was great.
I was surprised when I came on here and saw low reviews. Maybe things have improved a lot or maybe I was fortunate with the flight crew that day? There was nothing for me to complain about. I ended up booking with airasia because I was finding issues with trying to book online with jetstar and now I'm glad because I'll definitely fly with airasia again.
This review is for Air Asia a little while back but just joined Trustpilot and thought I'd share my experience with them. I'm sorry that others have had such a terrible time with the company but I flew with them around SE Asia frequently between 2017-2020 and never had any problems.
In particular, the customer service phone staff and ground staff at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok were outstanding and went above and beyond to get me on a flight to Vietnam despite being unable to check in and turning up at the airport only 20 minutes before departure time, after serious traffic delays. The phone agent called through to the check in desk at the airport to let them know I was on my way, all members of Air Asia staff at the airport were incredibly helpful, calm and friendly and the duty supervisor personally walked me through the security and passport checks, past all queues, to explain to the staff there why I had to get through. This was for a budget flight from BKK to Da Nang.
I know they get a lot of hate, and I am sure the complaints are justified, but I had a very good experience with them every time I flew and on that one occasion they were amazing.
I’ve just travelled with Air Asia from Columbo Sri Lanka to Chang Mai via Bangkok. It’s was a great experience. Could not fault anything. My original booking with Thai Lion Air was a disaster after they cancelled one leg of my flight leaving me with no other options but to cancel. It took over seven weeks to get my money back. What a shambolic organisation, I will never book with Thai Lion Air again, up to you.
I booked a flight that they cancelled then most of the options they gave me to get a refund didn’t work and I was met with an error from their AI system Bo. Eventually I was able to get a credit by after I chatting to a few people online who had the same issue. Apartently only one of the three options worked and you can only ask for a credit without causing the AI to bug out.
Have a look on there facebook site you will see it full of complaints due to the fact that they have no customer services reps. They will only let you engage with faulty AI. Do
If something goes wrong with your booking expect to lose your money. They will not even talk via email.
If am wrong about this I would like to hear what airasia say…
But the 30 or so times I flew with them pre covid I had very positive experiences.
Flew Manila to Kota Kinabalu return, booked convenient afternoon and evening flights that meshed well with our travel plans. Both flights were cancelled 4 days out for "Operational Reasons" and they rebooked us both times on flights in the middle of the night. Not cool for traveling with 3 kids. Feels like they attract you with the good time slots and then replace those with slots that are cheaper operationally. Flights themselves were fine. Being rebooked sucked.
I was reluctant to fly with them because of all the bad reviews! But……
I flew from Sri Lanka to Thailand with Air Asia with my bike, luggage and carry on and had no problem at all. Basic flight but worth it, as it was hassle free, easy booking, easy check in and dropping off bike and bags was normal. So for me they were great!!
I never write reviews..
I appreciated the number of connections this relatively small airline company has. I have travelled with them a few times to different destinations. I was surprised that all of the destinations had the best prices.
So if you don’t want to break your budget, this is a recommended option.
While the quality of service is questionable, I read many reviews that happen often their flights are often cancelled or postponed, I was lucky enough to not experience such a thing.
The aircraft, ground crew, air crew all perfect. The issue I have is with their app and website. For the last few weeks I have a problem with booking flights, I get so far and then get the message “ oops something has gone wrong”. I have been a regular air asia customer for many years. I have tried to speak to their customers services by telephone but they do not have any numbers on their site and the numbers I sourced are either no longer in use or are never answered. The only way I can book flights is via a third party website such as Agoda. Once I have the booking code I can then use the Air Asia app and website to check in and purchase ad ons such as extra baggage etc.
Air Asia's affordable fares come at the cost of comfort. Disappointing seats lacked proper support, but considering the budget-friendly nature, expectations should align accordingly.
There are so many terrible reviews on here that I thought it only fair to give AA a reasonable one. A cancelled flight by them (one of many), that we requested a refund for. Took a lot of chasing and waiting but we did get a full refund to our credit card within 30 days. Thank you Air Asia, it's not all doom & gloom. Although, we do wish Bo was more useful in connecting you to a human!
People should request a chargeback if Air Asia are dragging their feet with full refund because there's added fees involved when banks are forced to take this action which Air Asia must pay..
After having a negative experience last month when I requested for refund since AirAsia rescheduled the flight, I was wondering about any luck this time when I made the same request for Bangalore to Mumbai flight. But this time my experience was totally different. Through the chatbot Tia, I requested for refund 3 days ago and it responded promptly and accepted my request. Then I received the refund today after hardly 3 days. This was just fantastic. If AirAsia continue to provide such kind of customer care, surely, they will gain the goodwill and the appreciation of travellers. Best wishes for the same.
