Cancelling was a nightmare. Gave written notice by email in February, which the gym acknowledged and confirmed termination. Cancelled my direct debit as I'd paid everything owed under the notice period.
The gym then continued charging, added late fees for failed direct debits, and ignored my emails asking for a breakdown of what I supposedly owed. When I tried to cancel through their website, it wouldn't let me proceed without reinstating the DD and paying the disputed amount first.
I contacted them directly in April offering to pay whatever I legitimately owed. No response. They passed the account to a debt collection agency instead.
A £55 monthly membership turned into a £200 collections demand because the gym refused to engage with a straightforward question: what do I actually owe? Their own T&Cs and their own emails confirm I owed one month. They chased me for two plus late fees.
The gym itself was fine. The cancellation process is designed to make leaving as difficult and expensive as possible.

Anytime fitness Letchworth are an…
Anytime fitness Letchworth are an absolute bunch of thieves, my son who has ADHD and other learning difficulties was a pay by the month member of this gym but had decided he didn't want to go any more.
He phoned the gym and said he wanted to cancel his membership, which at the time was not a problem but fast forward a couple of staff changes later and a jumped up little micro manager called Lilly and there is no record of him cancelling his membership.
Myself and his mother phoned and tried to explain to silly Lilly that the membership had been cancelled but she would not listen and instead threatened us with a debt collection agency.
After giving up on getting any sensible answer out of silly Lilly I decided to phone their head office number and guess what the number is a dead line in Maidenhead UK.
This so called gym is nothing but a big money laundering scam.
Silly Lilly who looks like she has never touched a piece of Gym equipment in her life Is nothing but a spiteful little bully who likes to pick on disabled people and hopefully her career will be a short one.

Like buying a car???
All I wanted to do is see what they offered in their facility. I get in the door and talk to the lady at the front desk (who appeared to be doing nothing at her desk) and she said I had to make an appointment. Her exact words were “its like buying a car”. Well….they certainly made it that difficult and made me feel like I would be dealing with a car salesman. No sale. Storm Lake, IA location.

Business refuses to cancel subscription
Original cancellation was sent in writing on 11th March 2026. Was given the run around (not using the facility) until 29th April when I went in and signed their 'necessary paperwork' to cancel the subscription. Given more of the run around and here I am 25/6/26 still being debited by Anytime Fitness. Wouldn't recommend getting into any sort of subscription with them as they clearly are not about health and fitness or about being good people. Disgusting behaviour from a business.
Anytime Fitness St Paul’s cathedral.
The staff was late, awful, and absolutely rude. The place was extremely cold even if there were 15C degrees outside.
Not enough weight machines.
I had arrived when there was no one. The lady was late, and the other lady almost threw the door at me because she was rushing in the room.
I asked for a towel and to turn the AC up. They didn’t give me the towel, and put up the AC even if hey said they would, they actually made it colder. I had to wear a scarf and put it around the head not to get sick.
Do not go to this gym. Rude staff, and not enough machines to be in Central London.

Well over a decade of use and 60 plus years of gym use !
I've been at this gym 4 weeks after it opened, so I've been here for what 17 - 18 years 1st owner a JSO officer kept the gym perfect , after a divorce his wife owned it , then she sold it to the owners now, the equipment is old and many need help, equipment gets repaired when it breaks, in our very hot summers hope the A/C don't break because you will wait , toilets SHUT down to repair whenever, water warm for along time then no water then it got fixed ,I've been in so many gyms I can't count but this one is far from the best , I only see staff one lady if I go during the day but generally I go 5 nights a week I probably know half the people that go to the small gym on SR 200 I don't say much but after all these years it's time, what would I say get your act together , go check out your equipment keep someplace where the people YOUR CUSTOMERS can let you know what's broke. Also when your see cable wires showing replace the don't wait, I guess you never seen a king size lawsuit yet, make this gym someplace YOU should be proud of !

I joined anytime thinking that for 1 year there will be nothing to worry about now..
But I was wrong because for 3 days the trainers tell you what to do but at end of the 3rd day no one guides you.I was told a floor trainer will help you but that is misleading...one year fees is only for people who have knowledge about the equipments and not for new comers...really taken aback. Trust is important for a brand and you are taking it lightly

Anytime Fitness Santa Monica Charged me…
Anytime Fitness Santa Monica Charged me after I cancel my membership,They refusing the cancel your membership,It’s been 1.5 months and they’re still charging me.
If you're thinking about joining Anytime Fitness be aware of all the hidden costs. My husband has been having mobility issues and has been in the hospital off and on for 7 weeks out of 10 weeks, when they released him we signed him up at anytime fitness, the advertising said $29.99 bi-weekly but that was for 12 months, we decided it would be best for him to go month to month because of his health issues, and having never belonged to a gym before, we weren't sure he could do it for long, so it was explained to us it would be $37.99 a month, plus tax $4.94 for a cost of bi-weekly $42.93, there was a initial sign up of $151.42 which included a $50.00+ deposit for the fob for the door, he cancelled his membership on May 2nd as he ended up back in hospital at the end of April and was having more mobility issues, so he was unable to keep going, now here is where you have to be careful (and before some of you jump on complaining about "public shaming" let me tell you, we have spoken to them in person about additional costs and no refund when you return the fob), here is a breakdown of what they charged in less than 1 month $151.42 April 9th, $32.77 April 15th (they said it was for upkeep on the gym, which was never mentioned when we joined, but is probably hidden somewhere in all the documentation), $42.93 Apr 23rd, $42.93 May 7th for a grand total of $270,05 to belong to the gym for less than one month. It was implied when we joined that the deposit for the key fob would be returned when we returned it, but that isn't the case, you're not making a deposit for the fob, you're buying it. Sadly I didn't google
Anytime Fitness until after all these charges started showing up, and apparently this is something that a lot of people have a problem with, so be careful unless you want to spend a ridiculous amount a month, and make sure if you join you record the conversation. Oh and they took out the next month a week after we cancelled, something is wrong here 🙁

Westlake Rd., Anytime Fitness
Not all Anytime Fitness locations are the same—but the brand new West Lake Road Anytime fitness, West Kelowna, BC truly stands out above the rest. I’ve been to a lot of gyms, and this one is honestly the cleanest, largest, and most beautiful I’ve ever experienced. The entire place is totally immaculate.
The equipment is modern, up-to-date, and there’s everything you could possibly need for a great workout—including an awesome circuit/round system that really keeps things moving. The music is amazing and perfectly matches the vibe of the gym, which makes working out even more enjoyable.
I also love the 24-hour access and the ability to use my membership anywhere, anytime—it’s so convenient. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and it really shows. I totally recommend this gym to anyone looking for a great place to work out. This Anytime Fitness is a 10 out of 10.

Brentwood- Small Franchise run by youngsters
I was a member of this gym for a good period of time, and while the staff themselves are generally polite and trying to help, the way the club is run leaves a lot to be desired.
After suffering a back injury, I was unable to attend and was advised to freeze my membership. What was not made clear at the time was that I would still be required to pay a 30-day notice period later on, even after the freeze.
The overall approach feels very much like a “computer says no” system. There is no flexibility or common-sense consideration of individual circumstances, even in cases where you physically cannot use the gym. Despite having already paid for months without attending, the focus remained on enforcing the final charge.
It also feels like there is no real accountability beyond the front-line staff. You are dealing with a small team who are bound by strict terms and conditions, with no clear way to escalate the issue to someone with the authority to take a fairer, more balanced view.
Ultimately, the experience leaves the impression that the process is designed to protect revenue rather than support members. In situations involving injury or financial difficulty, that lack of flexibility is particularly disappointing.

I've been to a several AF gyms across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. All I can say is they are mostly poorly maintained. The membership price ain't cheap and you'd be better off payin that premium price elsewhere at other more famous commercial gyms or private workout studios.. Judging from the reviews on Trustpilot and personal experience, AF gym service is just substandard and inconsistent. There may be some good days when everything is in order , but when bad days come they really linger on for a pretty long time... Longer than the good days you had experienced...
As for personal training, the experience is like opening unpredictable blind boxes, with a high chance of getting an unpleasant surprise.
Overall, the culture seems to be very much profit driven by short term sales...
Decent enough gym, but predatory cancellation policies. They will take you for a ride if you wish to cancel. DO NOT fall for the "pause membership ". Cancel, get out and take your money elsewhere. They will milk you for every euro.

Anytime Killara NSW
Anytime Killara NSW. Loyal anytime member for over 10 years. They tried to transfer my membership from another gym to the most expensive rate with an increase of 30%. Gave me 30 days notice take it or leave it. Manager is conveniently on leave during the notice period. Avoid these weasels
Very disappointed
I was promised by email that I would get my membership fee of £140.23 refunded to me today, but NOTHING has hit my bank account
I have been waiting a month for this!!
Very poor service I will not be recommending them
I’ll be calling first thing Monday morning
