would Extremely disappointing experience with British Home Direct strongly advise others to think…
would strongly advise others to think carefully before ordering from British Home Direct. My experience has been incredibly frustrating, with the wrong-coloured acoustic wall panels being delivered and the whole process of trying to resolve the issue becoming far more difficult than it should have been.
I have had to spend unnecessary time chasing this matter, arranging returns and trying to obtain a refund of £104.99 that I am owed. As a customer, I expect to receive the correct products and, if a mistake is made, for the company to take responsibility and resolve it promptly.
The lack of a straightforward resolution has left me extremely disappointed. Customers should not have to repeatedly chase a company to put things right when the issue was not their fault in the first place.
Unfortunately, this experience has completely

British Homes Direct
• Customer Feedback: The company has a low TrustScore of 1.5 out of 5 ("Bad") on Trustpilot, with numerous recent complaints from late 2026.
• Common Complaints: Customers report receiving wrong items (e.g., incorrect panel thicknesses or colors), damaged goods, unfulfilled or falsely advertised lighting kits, and extreme difficulty reaching customer service or obtaining refunds past the 30-day window.
• Return Policy: They enforce a 30-day return policy requiring items to be unused and in their original packaging, which many dissatisfied buyers report is hard to utilize due to poor communication.
• What LemFi Is: LemFi is a legitimate, regulated international money transfer app used to send funds globally.
• Scam Risks: While LemFi itself is a legal financial service, users can fall victim to Authorised Push Payment (APP) Fraud—where scammers trick you into willingly transferring money or sharing your account details for fake goods, services, or impersonation scams.
• Reporting & Protection:
• If you sent money via LemFi to a scammer, contact LemFi immediately through the in-app chat or email fraud lemfi
• Recovery depends on whether the funds have already been paid out or can be recalled from the receiving bank.
• U.K. users can also escalate unresolved formal complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service if they meet eligibility criteria.
If you are dealing with a specific transaction or dispute involving either British Homes Direct or LemFi, tell me:
• Which company you used or paid
• How you made the payment (card, bank transfer, LemFi, etc.)
• When the transaction happened
I can give you the exact steps to report it or request a chargeback
Unscrupulous business practice. Product sort of OK
So.... Can't give one star because delivery was good and it looks OK on my chosen wall. BUT
Misrepresentation
Bought four wall panels - site tells me they are oak teak veneer. When fitting, I wasn't convinced it was real oak so confirmed this with online chat, they said it was. Peeled off the coating and it's is quite obvious it's just plastic with wood effect printing - there is no oak or wood involved in this product.
This is misrepresentation of the product, which I think is highly illegal.
Bribe
Then I get an email after my delivery asking me to leave a review and stating that if it's a good one, they will refund me 10 pounds. In my world that's bribery and illegal. Whilst writing this I can see trust pilot has a section that says they do not allow companies to offer payments or benefits in exchange for a review. Enough said but people may well be tempted to get the £10 back in what is a difficult time financially by leaving an "inaccurate" review.
Again I believe that this is not permitted when it comes to online selling and reviews.
Colours not right
Lastly, we don't think it looks like the colour in the picture and that's what we based our purchase on when choosing a shade.
I would avoid this company even though clearly it's very cost-effective if you want a cheap acoustic panels (or 4).
I'm not getting £10 back am I :-)
Awful Company, I purchased some acoustic wall panels and LED strip lights from them. They sold me 13mm gap panels to acomodate the lights but when I finally started to fit the panels (after the 30 day policy) I found the gaps to only be 10mm. They would not do anything to help, I couldn't even return the lights. They were not bothered in the slightest.
WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING ORDERING FROM BRITISH HOMES DIRECT
I feel I need to share my experience so other customers can make an informed decision.
I ordered 4 acoustic panels from British Homes Direct and 2 arrived damaged. The damage appears to have been caused by staples sticking through the backing and pressing into the front of the other panels.
I contacted the company and simply asked for the 2 damaged panels to be replaced. I wasn't asking for a refund. Instead, I was told to download the LemFi app in order to arrange a refund. I wasn't comfortable with being asked to download an unfamiliar app simply to receive money back for damaged goods. They wanted me to add my bank details in to the app which allowed British home direct to take money for my bank account.
After a frustrating 40-minute phone call they put the phone down on me.
Because I had no confidence that I was going to get the replacement panels sorted and needed to finish my project, I had to use the damaged panels and completely change my original design to make them fit.
I've now been told by British Homes Direct that they don't use LemFi for refunds and that I must have been scammed.
This is extremely concerning because the person who contacted me appeared to be calling from British Homes Direct and knew my order number, delivery details and exactly what had happened with my damaged panels.
So if it wasn't British Homes Direct, how did someone have access to all of this information?
And there's another important point potential customers should be aware of: B Homes Direct Limited, trading as British Homes Direct, is recorded in The Gazette as having entered creditors' voluntary liquidation, with liquidators appointed on 18 March 2026.
I'm not making accusations about something I can't prove, but taken together, I think customers deserve to know what has happened in my case.
Please be extremely careful if you're contacted regarding an order. Don't download an app or provide bank details unless you've independently verified who you're speaking to.
I'm now waiting for British Homes Direct to explain how someone apparently not connected to the company had access to my order information and why I was directed towards LemFi.
Do your own research before placing an order
They are going under the other trust pilot name to with good reviews. The bad reviews are being removed daily
I ordered 4 panels of DARK grey back in April and I was very happy with the panels, we then decorated our dining room so I ordered LIGHT grey panels. The panel turned up and was exactly the same as the panels I ordered before. When I queried this with customer services, they told me I had received LIGHT grey. I challenged this and sent them photos of the DARK grey panels I already received against the LIGHT grey panel they had sent. Their response was "sorry, we must have sent you LIGHT grey last time"
AVOID this company ! They have zero customer service satisfaction
Ordered 6 Dark Oak wall panels, 6 light oak panels arrived damaged in completely battered packaging with footprints on. Rang their so-called customer service number 20 times without any answer and their mailbox is always full so you can't leave a message. They advertise that they have a Live Chat which is ironically offline when you need to use it. A 72 hour reply period for them to reply to customers via their website is ridiculous. If I order a product to use in a job I firstly expect them to be undamaged and secondly for a direct route to let them know if there's a problem. Very inconvenient but typical of these faceless warehouse companies who gladly take your money in a flash but make it incredibly difficult to return, replace or refund in the event of a mistake. Avoid if possible and go to an actual shop
The phone number provided on google links to this company 07462221581 they scammed me this morning, they said I had a missing parcel which I do then took details to apparently compensate then money went missing. £95 down because I answered a call. They said they were working for behalf of vinted. When I search the number on google its british homes direct they called on WhatsApp claiming to be customer support.
Please don’t believe the slick website, social media ads, 50% off ending in 5 hours, and fast nationwide delivery. We spent £900 with a 3-10 day delivery. No delivery. No communication whatsoever. 2 phones ring out and lead to a full voicemail or a recording that says wrong number. Email is an auto reply. Live chat puts you in a queue then bumps you when you get to the front. I tried to contact them for 8 hours and finally got a hold of the poor social media person. Now saying delivery will be 25 days after order. Absolutely not. Our garden project is left half finished, delayed and over cost with trades waiting. I’m now battling to get a prompt refund and have seen the company is in liquidation. All of this could have been avoided with a more honest and reputable company. Please please do your research before you part with your money.
I do however thank the social media person for at least responding to me. I just hope we can claim our money back now. Devastated.
I have also learned this company has a liquidation notice. This really should be advertised as a liquidation sale or they really shouldn't be taking money when they are unable to fulfill orders. I am desperately trying to get a refund for over £900 now so I can finish my garden renovation, something I worked really hard to save for.
Frauds. British Homes direct is a running a scam. Sending wrong panels all across uk and demanding £39.99 to refund it. Earning double money by scamming people.
Not yet received my panels even although I have had messages with delivery dates and a text message from a driver to say he is on his way. Poor communication, missed delivery dates, still waiting for my panels.
Wrong colour panels sent. We repainted them.
Lighting kit is falsely advertised. No ability to change the colour temperature or app control.
Led driver failed after 5 months, company impossible to contact.
Basically as everyone else has stated a total scam company.
Ordered some acoustic panels and led lights to fit in them, they just slipped straight out onto the floor. They should hold in place.i rang BHD up, no answer, went straight to voicemail saying the voice mail is full, then line went dead.then I tried WhatsApp.a Afrikaan man answered, I couldn’t understand most of what he said,he asked me to download a Lemfi App. It is an international money App. Seems too dodgy. BE VERY CAREFUL
Britishhomesdirect.com is a scam company.
BritishHomesdirect.co.uk is a real working company.
I stupidly didn't realise and I am still waiting for the bowls I ordered.
Updated to say the delivery company fleetexpress.com site is up for sale, so that was fake too.
ORDER NO: BHD147378.
This company is a shambles. No response to calls or emails. They don’t answer the phone just dials out. There delivery suggests 3-10 days but have been waiting weeks. You can’t track orders and you don’t get notified about your order. DO NOT USE
Absolutely scam company, I ordered panels and needed 1 more to finish the job and was sent the wrong ones. No one picking the phones or answering emails, daylight robbery
