Quality is amazing
I love the quality of the product I receive from butcher box. I will say that lately the juice/blood once taken from the freezer to defrost in the fridge is coming out of the packaging into whatever vessel I have the product in. That hasn’t ever happened before. I will say that I referred my nephew and a friend who both stopped ordering because of this reason. My nephew said he called because 8 fillets were ruined and you guys credited him $40. That’s not really my concern at this point, my concern is that it’s starting to happen with my packaging!

I gave a 3 star rating because I often receive filet mignon steaks with one in the package a dark brown color, not a good flavor or fresh tasting. The second steak in the package usually has a nice vibrant, fresh red color and good flavor. Someone ends up with a poor quality steak and someone gets a nice, flavorful fresh steak. This has happened several times. I even have taken photos to prove it!

Scam company with 0 customer service reps
they don't employ customer service reps. literally impossible to get a hold of anyone. i mistyped my email for the subscription. somehow shopify still knew my number and confirmed it that way. you can only log in with email and email verification so its impossible to manage a subscription and butcher box hates americans so it employs no one. was on hold for an hour before i got hung up on. asks for a dm on x but requires you to pay for premium to even dm them, and they don't respond to emails. complete scam company
Most of my products are not sealed…
Most of my products are not sealed properly. So, there are times I have lost products. Most times they are half thawed as well. I enjoy most of what I get and I do recommend your services. I feel there should be more perks for customer loyalty
Six emails and multiple phone calls
Six emails. SIX. No reply. Multiple phonecalls. Nobody picks up. Instead, after waiting 20 minutes (the recording said it'd be 9 minutes)another recording came up stating that nobody can take my call. So your system makes your customers wait 20 minutes only to say better luck next time? Their website stinks like nothing I've ever experienced before (and I use Amazon). For example, I open my account and one day there is 2K worth of meats in my cart. A day later (and without anyone making any changes on my end) it is 4 K...and the next day is 5K. It is unsettling, to say the least, to have a set processing/billing date and having zero confidence that nothing will change in my account. Unethical truly. I have documented everything. Next stop Better Business Bureau. Other experiences include having been told to "just get a food vacuum sealer machine" of my own to re-package their faulty packaging. I would not recommend this to anyone. Not even folks I dislike because they are too much of a punishment for anyone.
I do love my ButcherBox
I’ve been getting ButcherBox now at least a couple of years. I think the meat is very high-quality and always very tasty. I feel like the only reason I can’t give them five stars is that their packaging could use some work. Often there are small holes in the vacuum sealed products that create a lot of leaking when you’re defrosting so you have to be careful how you defrost it. Customer service is great. The boxes come reliably.

I love having grass fed meat and poultry coming to my door every three months. And normally I would give a 5 star rating. However this last shipment the wrapping/packaging on my chicken was burst and my chicken had some freezer burn so I have to throw two packets away.

Update 7/21/26: BB's reply does not fit what they state is their reputation. You can't get quality if your shipments are being damaged by the shipping company you choose. The better response would have been directed at their delivery service and why they continue to use a lackluster company. Again, if losing customers is BB's goal, congratulations! You are succeeding. After being a customer for almost one year, I found that on several or my most recent deliveries, they were using a service that mishandled the box. This caused one of my deliveries to contain completely thawed out meats and seafood. I contacted the company and received a replacement box which was fine. On my most recent delivery in July 2026, the box was delivered with again, several meats thawed out and the box looked like it was dropped several times, mishandled and then taped up as if a 5 year old performed that task. I was totally disappointed to experience this again for a second time and decided to cancel the subscription for good. I have a problem when a company offers superb delivery service and then contracts a lower scale/level company who I am sure are contracted for a lot less than previous delivery companies. It's a shame that BB does not care to lose customers!

Five Stars..... For Trust Pilot Once again, I found the reviews very helpful, and was persuaded to NOT make another mistake. Everyone that orders things online should always read reviews before ordering. AI has also been very helpful in reviews of online products. Keep up the good work. It really helps
Top quality grass-fed beef and seafood
Been a subscriber for six months now. The meat arrives frozen solid in eco-friendly insulation every month. The grass-fed ribeyes and wild salmon are noticeably fresher and tastier than what my local supermarket carries.
They made thing Right! 😊
I had issues and contacted them a few times without resolve. However they did resolve the issues to my satisfaction. They have great product which we enjoy a lot!

You cannot get anyone on customer service. HORRIBLE business plan, to ignore customers hoping they will hang up or close their browser. They owe me money and I cannot get a hold of anyone. So frustrating!!!

We love the quality of the meat and everything we have ordered has been delicious. The only thing i have a problem with is the heavy box filled with perishables is left downstairs near rhe mailboxes ( we don't have a doorman) and despite my requesting they leave the box at our apartment this has not happened .

Great service, price has increased substantially over the five years of being a member but overall have been satisfied with their service.
