Nick Carey was excellent. He performed analysis paralysis on each person. It showed their blind spots and helped them work through it. I am being new to the group; it helped me see the same blind spot in myself. What I really appreciate is how he took his time with each person and helped them see we have the answers within ourselves. Plus, gave me those action steps to take next. WOW this was the most helpful call yet! Thank!

Diane, what a great way to start your time with us. Sometimes the biggest unlock is not getting another answer, but seeing the blind spot that was keeping you from moving. Nick is incredible at helping people find that clarity and turn it into action. Excited to see where you take those next steps.
I have started my business buying journey almost a year ago with thinking that buying a business take couple of weeks and on top of that, everyone is wanting to give you money to buy it.
I have found a business and talked to a few banks. Then, came Jordan and shopped my loan and got me connected with a bank that gave me a great rate and was ready to fund my deal.
Jordan was very helpful in stepping in and helping me with everything that the bank needed. The best part was that Jordan kept reaching out to the bank with out me asking and helping to move my SBA loan forward.

Tal, this is exactly the kind of support we want members to experience. Financing can quickly become one of the toughest parts of buying a business, and Jordan knows how to keep the process moving. Love hearing that he stayed ahead of the bank, advocated for you, and helped get your deal closer to the finish line. Thanks for sharing your experience.
The essence of Contrarian Thinking is sophisticated value delivered at the highest level. At the center of the community is an exceptional group of advisors with decades of real-world experience spanning multimillion-dollar operating companies, private equity, M&A, and highly sought-after corporate consulting.
The advisory team is led by Rylan Harvey, former Head of M&A and Corporate Development, whose experience includes leading private-equity-backed acquisitions across the commercial and residential services industries. His firsthand expertise spans the full lifecycle of an acquisition—from deal origination and underwriting to due diligence, structuring, negotiation, and FP&A.
And the depth of experience extends well beyond Rylan. The advisory bench includes accomplished operators who have built, acquired, scaled, and ultimately sold multimillion-dollar businesses into private equity. This isn't theoretical knowledge; it is access to people who have successfully navigated the exact process members are pursuing.
That experience is complemented by an extraordinary network of resources. Members have access to lending relationships, brokers, legal professionals, due diligence specialists, Quality of Earnings resources, deal-structuring expertise, and post-close operational support designed to help buyers successfully transition from acquisition to ownership and ultimately scale their companies.
Perhaps most impressive is the accessibility of that expertise. The platform provides what feels like near-constant access to advisors, daily office hours, and weekly deep dives into the advanced anatomy of real-world deals. The level of access and practical knowledge available within the community is difficult to overstate—and that speaks only to the people.
The Academy itself provides an equally impressive infrastructure of educational resources, deal sourcing, industry benchmarks, acquisition frameworks, and, through its partnership with BizScout, access to one of the most sophisticated marketplaces available to aspiring business buyers.
Taken as a whole, Contrarian Academy offers something remarkably difficult to replicate independently: an integrated acquisition ecosystem combining education, experienced operators, deal flow, capital resources, professional advisors, and post-close support.
Put simply, attempting to assemble this caliber of expertise and resources independently throughout an acquisition journey could easily require tens of thousands of dollars in professional fees—potentially $50,000 to $100,000 or more. Contrarian Thinking brings those resources together in one community, and the value of that access is exceptional.

Joseph, this is an incredibly thoughtful review and you captured exactly what we are working to build. Access to people who have actually bought, operated, scaled, and sold businesses changes the game when you are pursuing an acquisition yourself. We are especially glad the depth of the advisory team and resources has stood out to you. Thank you for recognizing the work behind bringing that entire ecosystem into one place.
Jordan made this whole loan process so easy! From day one he was honest, straightforward, and just a pleasure to work with. He really went above and beyond to make sure everything was in order, and he kept me in the loop the entire time — no wondering what was going on or chasing him down for updates. Everything came together smoothly because he stayed on top of it. I’m definitely working with him again, and I’d tell anyone looking for a loan to give him a call.

Thanks for this, Adner. The fact that you never had to chase Jordan for answers says a lot about how he works and the standard we want to set. Getting the financing right is a huge part of making the deal happen. Glad Jordan helped make the process easy and earned your trust for the next one.
My wife, Kendra and I decided we wanted to buy a "boring" business. It had been a thought of ours for some time, but we never pulled the trigger. I was let go from my corporate job and have been unemployed for almost 6 months. We decided to not wait for someone to hire me, but to buy a business and hire myself :) We also want to build a legacy with our son Brayden.
About 5 months into the program, we are about to get into underwriting on a Auto Repair shop and there is NO WAY in hell we would be in the position if it were not for Contrarian Thinking!
Jordan Gregory has been an incredible resource for us. From pre-qualification to finding a bank to take our loan not once, but twice! First one fell through and he went to work to get another bank to fund this purchase and so far so good. We will not celebrate until we actually close, but this experience with Jordan and the entire Contrarian team has been EXCEPTIONAL!
We are buying a business to belong to and build a community and when this closes (manifesting this shit!) it will be life changing for me and my family!
THANK YOU!

Tim, what a story. Turning a job loss into a decision to buy a business, hire yourself, and build something for Brayden is the kind of move we love to see. Jordan is relentless when it comes to helping members navigate the messy parts of getting a deal funded, and we are glad he has been in your corner. Now go get that auto shop across the finish line.
Jordan was incredibly responsive and quick to act! He was able to review my information and get a pre-qualification generated quickly and got me connected with a great bank for an SBA Express loan.
He followed up consistently to make sure things were progressing and was on top of the approvals from the bank and SBA.

Appreciate this, Derrick. Getting the right financing can make or break a deal, so we love hearing that Jordan moved quickly and stayed on top of every step. Making the process simpler and connecting you with the right people is exactly what we want to deliver. Excited to see where you take it from here.
I've been part of the Contrarian Thinking Growth Boardroom for 7 months and in that time, my revenue has grown 25% and we've cut costs by 12%. Alex my consultant is incredible and is always helping me stay focused and pushes me to be a better business owner. On top of all the connections, education, and resources, the membership has paid for itself. If you are on the fence about joining, just do it, you will be so glad you did!

This is incredible, Meg. A 25% revenue increase and 12% cost reduction in seven months is what happens when great guidance meets an owner willing to execute. Love hearing how Alex has helped you stay focused and keep raising the bar. We are excited to see where you take the business from here.
Jordan is very knowledgeable and quick to respond! He thinks through all my questions from many angles and is thorough in his response.

Love hearing this, Lindsey. Having someone in your corner who can challenge your thinking, answer quickly, and help you see what you might be missing can make all the difference. Glad Jordan has been that person for you. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Jordan is amazing. He is super responsive and and very knowledgeable. He will spend a ton of time asking and answering questions and then he will find the best fit for the financing needs.

Appreciate this, Jazz. Finding the right financing can change the entire deal, and having someone who takes the time to understand your situation matters. We are glad Jordan brought the knowledge, responsiveness, and care to help you find the right fit.
Contrarian Academy has been essential to my acquisition journey. I honestly don't think I'd have gotten through it without the program. Feedback from Coaches, especially Rylan, is structural & deal-specific, catching risk in negotiation terms before it becomes a real problem, not just generic encouragement. The community has been a steadying presence through the harder stretches of a deal, and kept momentum moving when things could have stalled. The network access to lenders, professionals, and other operators has been genuinely useful too. Rylan leads the program and brings real M&A expertise to it. If you're serious about buying a business, Contrarian Academy is worth it.

Thank you, Ferry. The fact that the Academy helped you through the difficult parts of an actual deal means a lot to us. Rylan and the team care deeply about giving buyers useful feedback when the decisions and details really matter. We’re glad to be part of your journey and cannot wait to see you get across the finish line.
I’m about halfway through Contrarian Thinking’s business acquisition course, and looking back, the day I pulled the trigger on this course was a pivotal moment in my life. While CT methodically teaches you how to buy a business, the impact of the knowledge, and the people teaching it, has gone far beyond the original expectation. It’s opened my eyes to the abundance of opportunity, taught me the nitty-gritty of how to actually make big things happen, and reinforced that bigger goals are perfectly reasonable when you have clarity around where you’re going.
As for the course itself, there’s a huge depth of information available if you want to dive in, but it’s structured in manageable bites that make it easy to follow and build on what you’re learning. Help is readily available, and the responsiveness when you need assistance is a genuine 10/10.
The live classes are where the real magic happens. I genuinely haven’t attended one without walking away with a new insight, a better question, or a different way of looking at something. The instructors are exceptional. They’re accomplished in their own pursuits, but equally impressive is their ability to communicate and teach across a wide range of experience levels. Knowing your craft is one thing; being able to translate that knowledge in a way that resonates with different people is another. They do both remarkably well.
The 1:1 access to mentors of this caliber is another standout. Having the opportunity to work through a sticking point, pressure-test an idea, or get direct feedback on something specific is incredibly valuable, particularly when you’re navigating unfamiliar territory.
A specific shoutout to Nick C. His approach is a rare blend of holistic thinking and sharp business acumen that I haven’t encountered before. His insights are darn near medicinal, with a knack for asking the question behind the question, the one that makes you reconsider what you’re actually trying to solve. My life has propelled forward by acting on the answers that came days and weeks after sitting with his questions.
And lastly, there’s the community. It’s badass. I live in a small town, so having access to this caliber of ambitious, curious, and unconventional thinkers is something of great value. Before committing, I hoped I’d feel like a small fish in a big pond, and boy do I. What the members bring to the table has been every bit as valuable as the course and the instructors themselves.
I’m only halfway through, and I’ve already taken far more from this experience than simply learning how to buy a business. Pulling the trigger on CT was an investment in myself that has profoundly changed the trajectory of where I’m headed. Very grateful I jumped in.

Cassi, thank you so much for taking the time to write this. It means a lot to hear how much the experience has impacted you, especially in ways that go beyond just learning how to buy a business.
We’re really grateful you trusted CT enough to jump in, and even more grateful for the energy and curiosity you’ve brought with you. Huge shoutout to Nick, our instructors, mentors, and the community for helping make the experience what it is.
And you’re only halfway through.
We’re so excited to see where the rest of this journey takes you. Keep asking the big questions, keep taking action, and keep leaning into the opportunities in front of you.
Thank you again for such a thoughtful review, Cassi. We’re really glad you’re here and will pass the feedback along to Nick too.
High-ticket marketing machine with zero empathy, generic advice, and severe lack of support
I joined Contrarian Community in September 2025 and Growth Boardroom in January 2026. Despite my full commitment and hard work, this high-ticket program has proven to be a costly failure due to systemic operational flaws and a total lack of expert execution support.
As a professional digital marketer, I quickly identified that the marketing portion of this curriculum consists of generic, surface-level advice. It offers no advanced strategy or real expertise.
The operational reality of the program includes:
1. Repetitive Advisory & Low Cadence: The advisory support is severely lacking. My first advisor merely repeated my own directions back to me. After escalating, my second advisor tended to extract strategies directly from me; when asked what had worked in the past, I mentioned interviews, and his subsequent advice was simply telling me to go do interviews. Furthermore, contact was restricted to just one call per month, which is entirely inadequate for a program of this price point.
2. Lack of Tangible Execution Support: The program's leadership attempts to take credit for outcomes achieved entirely independently. I secured and delivered my own webinars, and wrote and launched my own book. When explicitly asking the team for concrete network introductions for the launch, the only response was an offer to review plans I had already completed. No actual introductions, leverage, or amplification followed.
3. Complete Lack of Executive Accountability: When I reached out directly to the founder, Codie Sanchez, via Slack to honestly explain that I was generating zero revenue, that the program did not fit a pre-revenue founder, and that my financing routes were legally closed due to my Green Card status, she completely ignored my message and never replied.
4. A Pattern of Backward Situations: Throughout my months in the program, everything ran backwards. When I asked for loan options compatible with a Green Card status, I got radio silence. The only thing that finally triggered a response was my refund request, to which they replied by approving me for an SBA loan—the exact financing route I had just explained was legally closed to me. Similarly, other teams promised to follow up with alternative state information and never did.
5. Zero Empathy and Pure Money Hunger: As an expat and foreigner whose English is my second language, I did not fully comprehend the predatory depth of the commitment I was signing into. I am a single mother in NYC, running a pre-revenue business, who invested heavily because I needed this to work. Instead of addressing their own service gaps or showing an ounce of human decency, the Growth Director (Mr. Hooper) ignored every single practical and personal point, simply hiding behind automated contract clauses (Sections 6.1, 7.2, 5.4, 5.7).
After 7 months of being left to work substantially alone, the return on investment here is zero. Look past the polished marketing, the high-profile branding, and the fake community care. When you look under the hood, they are just running a corporate, money-hungry machine where human situations do not matter and operational support is non-existent.

UPDATE (Aug 26, 2026):
Following my review, a program ambassador retaliated the next day with a malicious 1-star review on my Amazon book, admitting we share this group. He falsely accused me of plagiarism, which is absurd: my book advises business SELLERS, while their program focuses on BUYERS. He exploited a free copy I shared on Slack as a value contribution, where he previously left hostile critiques. This personal retaliation and conflict of interest was reported to Amazon.
This money-focused model is a pattern. In May, a primary banking partner emailed me they were pushed out for ethically refusing to force referral commissions and inflate interest rates for clients. They were replaced by a broker willing to increase borrowing costs to pay the organization's margins. While I was systematically ghosted when needing support, they clearly have time for retaliation, deliver harsh critiques, and replace ethical partners to maximize margins. Proceed with caution.

Muriel,
You're entitled to feel the programs didn't produce the outcome you wanted, and I'm sorry it ended that way. But since this is a public review making specific claims, I want to add context.
You describe being left to work substantially alone with essentially no support. That doesn't match the record.
You joined the Academy in September 2025, attended 49 events, and made 23 posts, 85 replies, 71 reactions. You worked through valuation, EBITDA/SDE, SBA financing, LOIs, diligence, and deal structure, reaching an accepted LOI with a bank underwriting it before walking away after diligence surfaced risks you weren't comfortable with. That's not a failure of the process, it's what good diligence should do.
You later decided buying a business wasn't the right direction and asked to move into Growth Boardroom yourself. We made that change and kept working with you. Your own refund correspondence acknowledged you'd used the community, studied the materials, and attended calls and coaching sessions.
You say the Boardroom cadence was inadequate and advisors just repeated things back to you. The record shows five working sessions with your reassigned advisor between June 19 and July 29, covering 10+ prospect interviews and 5-6 second-stage calls. Your advisor reviewed the interviews, refined your ICP and positioning, went line-by-line through your webinar, reviewed your sales materials and offer structure, evaluated your pipeline, and advised against a commission arrangement that wasn't economically attractive, plus follow-up on founder dependency, pricing, lead generation, and outreach. That didn't guarantee a customer. As of the last session, you hadn't signed a client.
You also say we took credit for your webinar and book. We've never claimed that, those were your accomplishments. But you did use the Academy community while developing and launching The Valuation Gap, promoting it to members from late May through July. The book covers valuation, financing, and structural risk, the same subjects you spent months learning in Academy deal reviews. You're entitled to write a book from what you learned. It's fair for readers to know it was developed and promoted while you were an active member of that community.
On the idea we only responded because you asked for a refund: your first request came in June, after months of participation. Support escalated it beyond standard policy, and your advisor was reassigned. On May 28, before any refund request, you asked us to turn off auto-renewal. We did so immediately and you replied, "That's great, thank you very much." When you later requested a full refund for both memberships, we reviewed it against the membership terms and declined. Declining doesn't mean we ignored your concerns.
I don't want to minimize your disappointment. You invested real money and expected a different result. Those are real facts.
But there's a difference between "I didn't get the outcome I wanted" and "there was no support, no engagement, no work done." The record shows 49 events, extensive engagement, multiple deal reviews, an LOI at bank underwriting, a member-requested move to Boardroom, additional advisory support, and hands-on webinar help.
We can always improve, and we should. But we won't accept a public characterization that leaves out that history.
I wish you success with the business and the book. I mean that. But for anyone reading this review, the complete record matters.

The Contrarian Academy changed my life. The course gave me the baseline knowledge to feel confident about pursuing a business acquisition. The advisors and entire team are knowledgable and passionate, offering an endless stream of mentorship. The community supports and uplifts each other in a way I have never seen. My wife and I now are now business owners and on our way to financial freedom!
Reply from Contrarian Thinking 2026-08-20
Appreciate this, Tim. Going from learning how acquisitions work to owning a business with your wife is the kind of transformation we want to see more of. We’re glad the advisors, team, and community helped you get there. Becoming an owner is just the beginning.
I had a fantastic experience with Contrarian Thinking over the past year. The Academy training was excellent, the deal coaches were knowledgeable and genuinely invested in helping members, and the community was welcoming and supportive. I learned a tremendous amount about business acquisitions and came away with knowledge that I'll continue to use. Overall, I had a very positive experience and would highly recommend Contrarian Thinking to anyone interested in learning about business acquisitions and joining a great entrepreneurial community.

Thanks for this, Matthew. A year spent learning how to think differently about business ownership is time well invested, and we are glad the Academy and Deal Coaches delivered for you. The real value is having knowledge you can carry into every deal and opportunity ahead. Keep putting it to work.
I'd followed Codie for years, but it was her July 2026 Live Masterclass (with their Deal Advisor Stephanie Veal) that finally hooked me!
They echoed what I saw was true. That studying from the sidelines would not produce results, so I joined the community.
Three weeks in and still I'm in awe of the support, respect, and VIP treatment here. So much so that it caused me to change my pace; I came in chasing speed in order to acquire fast! Now I'm enjoying the journey, learning from the Advisors, building relationships with Members, and feeling special to be supported by their Concierge team.
I’ve no doubt we’re going to reach my goal and acquire a cash-flow-profitable business, and gain more from slowing down to experience the program.
Reply from Contrarian Thinking 2026-08-19
Cynthia, thank you for trusting us after years of following Codie from the sidelines. We love that just three weeks in, your focus has shifted from acquiring fast to acquiring well. That patience, paired with the right people and support around you, can change everything. We’re excited to be in your corner as you keep moving toward ownership.
Seven months into my experience with Contrarian Thinking, I've gained a far deeper and more nuanced understanding of the small business acquisition process than anticipated. Just as impressive as the education, however, is the culture. CT's expert deal advisors are grounded, supportive, and consistently willing to go above and beyond to help.
Nick Carey, a broker and deal advisor with CT, embodies that culture. In addition to being extremely knowledgeable, he provides a valuable perspective on both the business and human dynamics of the deal. Nick helped navigate two different, complex opportunities on my end--offering expert advice, practical guidance, and helpful insights.
CT offers a rare combination of valuable education, experienced advisors, and a community that genuinely wants to see its members succeed.
Reply from Contrarian Thinking 2026-08-19
Thank you, Lisa. We love that you called out both the education and the culture, because knowing how to evaluate a deal is only part of becoming a great business buyer. Nick brings the kind of practical perspective that can make a huge difference when the numbers and human dynamics collide. Glad to have you in the community and excited to see where you take this next.
Most of my professional life, I've worked by myself building teams. It's a fantastic feeling knowing you are surrounded with so many professionals who never flinch looking at the smallest businesses, same enthusiasm, same expertise, helping each and everyone of us through a long journey.
I don't know what we'd do without the Academy and those ambassadors, Concierge, and our huge cohorts!
I'm happy to have finally found a team I can depend on, coaching each part of the journey.

Nicolas, that shift from building alone to having a team in your corner is a big one, and it's the reason all of this exists. Every business deserves the same level of attention no matter the size, so glad that's exactly what you're feeling from the ambassadors, Concierge, and your cohort. Welcome to the team.
