Partly I now consider great friend who works there. Jeff Favalo. After struggling with a stroke a while back, Jeff has walked through me two albums now, his patience as I needed to find what needs to be done, and when a struggle in my ability to find it all, he walked through it.

We are so glad to hear about your positive experience and appreciate you sharing your story. We are truly touched by your kind words and are happy we could assist you with your project. We'll pass this message onto Jeff.
An e-mail being sent today, June 3, to Dan in Customer Service expresses my experience:
-----------------------------------------
cc: via printed mail to Mr. Tony van Veen (see note in italic below)
Good morning Dan,
I will gather the information you have asked for and send it along as soon as I am able.
But I will tell you in advance that I consider your request an insult to my integrity.
AND, it shows that you were obviously not able to comprehend and appreciate the data I gave you sufficient enough to pass it on to your procurement team.
And this is why:
When we spoke on the phone I gave you the essential information, in detail, that you are now asking me to provide . . . again.
Did you not make any notes during our conversation?
I gave you the chip and Mac OS of the Mac computer I am using.
I told that I am using a Mac SuperDrive to burn discs . . . and that it has never failed to do so . . . one, single, time.
I gave the version of the Toast Titanium software I have been using successfully for EVERY other disc I have ever attempted to burn.
I gave the brand names of four other DVDs used in a test, with your "DVD-R Ultra White IJ F/C 16X" mixed in to a sequence burning copies of some videos . . . and your disc was the ONLY one that failed, with the others performing perfectly, before and after your disc failed in that continuous sequence.
And I gave you paraphrased versions of the texts of the error messages I got as your discs failed.
I will send you screenshots of those messages.
But I do so because my 45 years of doing business in the book manufacturing industry, and visiting plants in the U.S., Scotland, England, Spain, Belgium, Dubai, Hong Kong, and plants in mainland China . . . and having been a customer of Disc Makers for some years, I would like to suggest that if a specific element in the configuration of hardware and software – was missing from the profile of my system that I have already given you – I suggest that Disc Makers should publish a "systems requirement" with each of its discs being advertised on its Web site.
I told you how I had tried five times to make your discs work, each time putting aside the ones that had failed and using a fresh one for the next test.
And when I tried one on my older Mac, which also has a SuperDrive, with an earlier version of the Toast Titanium (which I gave you), the Toast software simply quit.
This happened twice.
And I will say I am disappointed you have not provided what you promised to send me, a UPS mailing label by which I can return the discs to you.

A printed copy of this e-mail is being posted to Mr. Tony van Veen, since Timothy with whom I've just spoken at Disc Makers needed to pass me on to someone else when I asked for Mr. Veen's e-mail address. And after keeping me on hold for a long time, returned to say the person who could provide it was in a meeting, but I could leave a message in his voice mail. I choose instead to send a letter rather than wait for someone to call me back to give information I believe should be available on your Web site.

Easy uploading, nice to see 3D visual of project. Clear communication and customer service. Great quality product - my BIRD ON A WIRE album came out exactly how I envisioned it (again!). Thank you so much. I appreciate all you do. I will be in contact again in the future once my 4th album is completed, or when I need to reorder.

I love that Ted Deacon is still with Disc Makers. I have had decades of experience with his support with several of my albums and am so grateful for his knowledge, guidance, wisdom and expertise.
The graphic art was super easy and I am thrilled with the final product.
Thanks so much for your professional team.

We are so glad to hear about your positive experience and long-standing relationship with our team. It's wonderful that our support and expertise have been valuable to you over the decades. We appreciate your kind words and we will pass them on to Ted!
The re-order process is quick and easy. It's a little disappointing to find out that you're no longer shipping CD-R's on spindles, but I can understand the reasoning. What would be helpful however, is to somehow indicate the top and bottom of the stack.

We appreciate your feedback regarding the CD-R packaging and your suggestion for indicating the top and bottom of the stack. We're always looking to improve our processes. Thank you!
This is my fourth project with Disc Makers. The team has always been so helpful. Walking me through the process, helping with uploading my music and graphics. I can't say enough nice things. Thank you!!!

As a returning customer who has trusted Disc Makers in the past, I chose to place a small initial order to verify the quality before committing to a larger investment. While I am satisfied with the physical looks and initial function of the thumb drives, the ordering process itself was disappointing.
Buying in bulk would have saved money, but I was unwilling to risk a large investment based solely on the basic stick drawings in the online designer. I requested a digital PDF proof to verify the layout, but this option was not available or offered. Compared to my past experiences during the DVD era, the current online designer is difficult to navigate and fails to provide a high-quality proof that shows exactly what I am buying. Designing a logo on a thumb drive should be much simpler than a full DVD cover, yet the system felt less intuitive and offered less guidance than it used to.
Ultimately, I opted to buy a low quantity and pay an exorbitant price just to ensure the quality would meet my standards.
The customer service staff were pleasant, and the finished product looks good and holds files correctly, though I have yet to fully test them in everyday use. If these initial drives perform well over time, I will likely order again in bulk. However, the ordering interface and lack of professional proofing left a lot to be desired.

We appreciate your detailed feedback regarding your recent order. We understand your concerns about the online designer and the absence of a digital PDF proof, especially as a returning customer familiar with our past processes. Your comments highlight areas where we can improve the ordering experience. We are glad the physical product met your expectations and look forward to the opportunity to serve you again.
Everything was good "so far". In the past I've had sealed CD packages with no CD's in them. We'll see as time goes on. I won't know until someone buys one without a CD in the package. That has happened with 2 different albums.
Reply from Disc Makers2026-05-27
We appreciate you sharing your experience and concerns. We understand your apprehension regarding the CD packages and will certainly keep a close watch on this to ensure a mistake like this doesn't happen again.
