I am very disappointed with the customer service. I would not recommend eBay to any of my family or friends. I purchased a laptop in good faith through eBay, but the item I received was not as described and was not functioning. When I tried to resolve the issue, my account was suspended during an active transaction, leaving me unable to contact the seller, request a return, or use buyer protection.
Despite providing evidence and repeatedly asking for a practical solution, I received only repetitive, generic responses. There was no way to speak to a live agent. I was repeatedly told to contact the seller, even though eBay's suspension prevented me from doing so. No alternative solution was ever provided. I expected much better from a company that promotes buyer protection and customer trust. Unfortunately, my experience has left me very disappointed. Now I'm not surprised after reading all these negative comments from others here.

Ebay support is terrible
Ebay support is terrible. I'm trying to get my refund from a scammer and ebay just gave me the run around. The scammer won't give me the correct address to return and an excuse that I haven't return the penny that worth maybe 2 cents. Description of the penny was a lie. Cause me more money to return the item and the item came back to me with insufficient address. And now ebay kept asking me to return the product with an incomplete address. Ebay is pathetic. Ebay favor scammer and so they must have a lot of scammer in there. Close my account and never shop ebay again.

I never actually received an order and…
I never actually received an order and UPS knows it. It was shipped to a third party address and thus marked delivered. UPS can even tell me where it was delivered. Because the item is marked as delivered via UPS Ebay is automatically closing any complaint or refund request. Basically, eBay is an honor system and it only works when it works. And there's no accountability for the bad seed. More disturbing is the fact that they systematically remove negative feedback. I buy a lot of books, and you should compare the stellar feedback on eBay for some of these booksellers even compared to Amazon and,for me, Amazon is fraudulent in this regard!

Tracking Number
So on July 1st I put some basketball up for auction and the buyer when they won accidently selected local pick up. Now I live in WV and they live in Texas so for 6 days I tried to contact the person about the delivery. They finally responded with "are you going to ship my stuff". They realized that they made a mistake with the local pick up so, I got their adress shipped it out with a tracking number that I provided them with. Well it took 5 days to be delivered and between that time I asked EBAY if they could switch it out of local delivery on their end so I can get paid. Ofcourse they told me no and that once customer received the item they could give me a 6 digit code so I can get paid. Well I also at that time gave EBAY the tracking number to the package and tried messaging the customer if they could give me the 6 digit code. The item was delivered I got paid so everything is all good right. WRONG!!! The customer told EBAY that the item was NOT delivered so EBAY set up a so called investigation into the matter but, in less then 24 hours they sided with the customer. I gat an email about their decision so I fought it and sent EBAY the tracking number a 3rd time. Well they came back with that I still owe and no tracking number was provided. So thank you EBAY for nothing I will not buy/sell thier ever again and if the total that I am being charged with was worth a lawyer I would sue but less then $200 ain't worth it.

Trash, garbage
This is the most brain-dead, incompetent system I have ever encountered. I created a brand new account and got PERMANENTLY BANNED within minutes without even making a single purchase or doing anything wrong.Your automated security AI is incredibly stupid. Instead of catching real scammers, it blocks honest new users who just want to buy something. What kind of business model is this? Support is useless and speaks in robotic templates. Total lack of respect for customers. Avoid this garbage platform at all costs!

Fraud
I had a seller post me a faulty item they didn't know it was and accepted a return and refund.
The seller is not the issue, they received item back and then told me they couldn't refund me as it was broken on eBay's end. They showed me the proof that they contacted eBay and eBay told them they refunded me on their behalf.
Guess what? I wasn't.
I got a totally different response from eBay and only after providing proof that the seller wanted to refund me and that they asked eBay to and that eBay told them I was refunded did I finally get one after an hour arguing with people at eBay.
This is actual fraud, I should take legal action but I'd never get anywhere. Please don't use this company.

🚨 EBAY’S VERO PROGRAM IS A TOTAL SCAM…
🚨 EBAY’S VERO PROGRAM IS A TOTAL SCAM THAT PROTECTS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY THIEVES AND DROPSHIP FRAUD 🚨If you are an independent creator, author, or business owner trying to protect your copyrighted work, be warned: eBay does not care about federal copyright law, consumer protection, or intellectual property theft. Their system is completely broken, intentionally fraudulent, and designed to shield predatory scammers while completely stonewalling legitimate rights owners.Right now, bad-faith actors and automated scrapers are actively pirating my entire catalog of books, listing my stolen property for sale on eBay without my permission. To resolve this, I attempted to use eBay’s official legal channel—the VeRO (Verified Rights Owner) Program. What followed is a staggering display of corporate incompetence and negligence:THE DEAD EMAIL DECEPTION: On the 3rd of the month, eBay support officially directed me to submit my formal copyright takedown notices via email. After sending multiple urgent legal messages over a 6-week period and receiving absolute radio silence, I dug into the actual updates online. It turns out eBay completely stopped actively monitoring and processing that exact inbox on the 1st of the month—TWO DAYS BEFORE THEIR OWN SUPPORT STAFF TOLD ME TO USE IT. They literally handed me a dead, unmonitored mailbox to send my legal complaints to, effectively burying my reports while thieves actively profit off my hard work on their platform for over a month and a half.EXPLICIT CONSUMER FRAUD AND 4X PRICE-GOUGING: These automated parasites aren’t just stealing my intellectual property—they are actively price-gouging my readers. These scrapers are listing my books on eBay at four times their actual value. They are running a predatory dropshipping scam where they trap unsuspecting fans into paying insane markups for a book they don't even own yet. They wait for a sale, buy my book at normal price off my authentic storefront, and pocket a massive profit while dragging my reputation through the mud.THE 10-DAY SHIPPING LIE EXPOSED BY MY OWN BACKEND DATA: These fraudulent sellers are explicitly lying to consumers by claiming they hold "available physical inventory" of my books. I know for a fact they don't, because my publisher sales dashboards prove that zero copies of these books have ever been shipped to their operational locations. To cover up this dropshipping scam, they force buyers to wait a minimum of 10 days for shipping, hiding behind the ridiculous lie that it's for "payment processing." Payment processing takes seconds online. In reality, they are using that 10-day window to wait for a buyer to fall for their 4x price-gouging markup, order the book from my authentic storefront, and wait for standard retail shipping to deliver it. They are using false advertising to manipulate shipping metrics, and eBay’s dead VeRO compliance inbox is actively protecting this fraudulent racket.WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET THESE ASSHOLES' ATTENTION, A $50 MILLION FEDERAL LAWSUIT?By ignoring formal copyright notifications and leaving a defunct, dead mailbox active for legal reports, eBay loses its safe harbor protections under federal law. They are actively facilitating massive consumer fraud, systemic copyright infringement, and digital piracy on a corporate scale.TO THE EXECUTIVES RUNNING EBAY:Your support staff is handing out obsolete information, your VeRO division is completely MIA, and you are actively facilitating copyright infringement and consumer mail fraud by making it impossible for independent authors to submit takedown notices. Fix your garbage platform, escalate my tickets to a human supervisor in the Intellectual Property Division immediately, and delete these fraudulent, scraped listings. I am entirely done being ignored.

Been using ebay for almost 30 years and have had ZERO negative feedback. Sold a couple items recently for a total of $345.00. When payout time came, ebay kept $96.00 in fees. Almost 1/4 of the total. No explanations and NO way to question or dispute it. From now on, all my selling will go through Marketplace or Etsy.

have guest account with this vendor
have guest account with this vendor, because do not want phone number given out and that is what happens when seller uses ups, and there we go another group of spam calls. Usually it is hit or miss with service when one calls customer Service, this time the worst ever. On or about 7.24.26 rang because no order confirm was sent to email, voice on the other end insisted that one is automatically generated by system. Does anybody believe that software & hardware is perfect cs is probably required to say that it is perfect. When item arrived, contacted vendor via phone to find out what happened. Nothing happened no order confirm was sent to e-mail that we provided to ebay software & ebay cs. There is something else we as so called consumers need to know, if you use a vpn on your cell phone and submit a review this platforms ai sends it back to you. so be preparred.

Ebay is horrible
Ebay is horrible. If you are a seller they will bend you over. Ive had parts swappers and people change their minds and been forced to do a full refund. Open a claim and 10 minutes later its resolved in the buyers favor no matter the reason for the complaint.

eBay account since 2019, inactive until recently, and now permanently banned because of MC999
I set up my eBay account before 2019 intending to be a seller but never used it. In early July 2026, to prepare for retirement, I re-logged into my eBay account. I made the following changes: username (two changes), updated my home address, and went through ID verification. Today, I started posting new items that I no longer need that are around 10+ years old. Photos show tags. Out of nowhere, eBay sent me a message saying MC999 my account is permanently banned. Sent an email, asked for phone call. Received the same standard script. No recourse.
Purchssed a crystal decanter top. Description was the wrong and did not fit. Immediately started a return the same day it was delivered. 60 seconds after I initiated the return, it was closed. I don't know what kind of garbage business these people run, but I will never deal with eBay again. I will be contacting the better business bureau!
😂 wow it looks like we all agree that eBay is a Garage company. It's too bad that they have been around so long and have continued to get worse and worse as a company while they take everyone's money to keep this going. 13.1 percent of a sale less then 100$ is absolute theivery so I can only imagine people that use eBay for higher paying sells. Why do they even charge anything to provide a platform? They need to understand the foolishness with that logic. People are providing traffic and exposure to your company by using your platform. You should be paying them because that's how you even exist. If you can't offer a place to sell items and at most take 1% then the majority of people will go sell elsewhere. In this day and age their are tons of places to sell stuff on TONS like thousands. eBay has zero sense of urgency when it comes to giving someone they money they've earned. So not only do they charge a person they take their sweet time giving that same person the scraps that are left. I wish nothing but the absolute worse for eBay and I hope they sink into a place where they need to hand the controls over so an owner that isn't so greedy and lousy at forming the standards of a business. 19k plus reviews and 1 ⭐ service tells me all I need to know about eBay if Im not already fully aware at how terrible they are. BEWARE as a buyer and seller eBay has collapsed onto its own greedy paws and you don't want anything to do with using their services. They take so much from the seller that if you buy off eBay you are 98% of the time buying something that you could find cheaper elsewhere because they are taking so much from the seller that the seller has to increase the price of their item just to pay eBay. 100% shop around before landing on the eBay app. Only use eBay if you absolutely have no other way of buying somewhere else. This review on trust pilot should be humiliation for eBay but I am certain it doesn't matter because they've been terrible for far too long. Implode already eBay we don't want to see you around anymore!
I had a good experience using eBay. The website was easy to navigate, and I found the item I was looking for at a reasonable price. The seller shipped the order on time, and the product matched the description. The checkout process was simple, and I received updates about my order. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase and would consider using eBay again in the future.
Ebay is corrupt and takes the postage money illegally
Ebay no longer provides a way to send items larger than what AusPost will handle. Ebay takes the payment by the customer but does not offer a service for a seller to send the item, so the seller has to pay for a courier service from their own pocket. This needs to revert back to the old way of being able to show the item has been sent with a tracking number by a service outside of ebay
I accidentally sent the wrong item to a buyer. What a nightmare with getting a return postage label. Charged me close to $18 which was more than the amount I charged the buyer. Was sent back in a postage bag costing $11.70. Ebay has just pocketed $7 of my money.
What a hassle to sell something for $12.50!!!!
There are no live agents to chat to, only AI so you just go around in circles and get no help.
Don't think I will bother listing anything further on ebay. While they have tried to make the process more simple, they have made it more frustrating and difficult.
I've had my account for over 20 years and a bit done with the whole sales process.
I wrote previously how E-Bay were charging more than twice as much for shipping as the actual costs and trousering the difference. So I had to transfer funds from my French bank to British bank to cover E-Bay's swindling surcharges and in the one day waiting for funds to clear, E-Bay shut down my account because I had not paid immediately (and despite an on-going conversation between seller and myself - all in English but which the arrogant French translated into their own language).
Today funds have cleared and I went to pay only to find E-Bay had increased the cost by $70 and increased shipping by $3,20 for no reason.
The seller had previously given me a 'special offer' which I had not yet refused, and given the sudden price hike I thought I would use the 'special offer' - only to find E-Bay had withdrawn the offer despite it still having time before it expired.
Dealing with this vermin filth is a repugnant experience. E-bay are moral filth and it is clear, just trying to buy items on E-Bay, why these people were driven from God's house!
Terrible website to use. I run a fully registered legit company in Ireland and I tried selling on the eBay platform and they suspended my account for no reason.
When I contacted customer service about this they told me they couldn’t tell me the reason may as well been talking to a wall avoid this platform at all cost
