Not reliable for serious humanitarian work

GoFundMe Is Not Reliable for Humanitarian Work I spent five months creating a GoFundMe fundraiser for a humanitarian project in Watamu, Kenya, providing school desks to children at a deeply disadvantaged school that had never had desks before. I personally developed and supervised the project. The fundraiser was not simply a way of collecting money. It documented my humanitarian work, including the project story and photographs, and was intended to serve as evidence of my experience for future NGO work, university research and proposals. GoFundMe retired the fundraiser without giving me meaningful notice or an opportunity to preserve the material. Even more concerning, their support has now told me they "cannot retrieve the fundraiser from their own backend". I find that hard to believe as the link clearly shows it exists somewhere. Five months of humanitarian work should not simply disappear from the database, no matter how much time passes. If GoFundMe cannot preserve completed fundraisers, users should at least receive adequate notice so they can download and archive their work. I assumed GoFundMe was a reliable platform that maintains documentation and records. I no longer believe it is safe to rely on them for serious humanitarian or community projects.

The speed with which I received a reply to a challenge and, very importantly, the challenge being resolved very quickly, is much appreciated.

This company won’t part with the money!!

Everything about this idea is great but this company does not want to part with the money. You can set up a fund page in seconds and no scrutiny of who you are or if you’re raising funds for terrorism!! But when you want to withdraw the money wow……..this takes forever. Upload licences, passports and statements and then they sit and wait. Weeks will pass before they validate you. The bank details were literally approved with my bank in seconds, only for this company to sit on the money before they will transfer. It’s a great concept but this company is only only interested in how much they can keep in their bank account

I am glad the fake page has been removed. I am very grateful, and I can now help people who really need it. However, security needs to be improved so that it can no longer be misused. Unfortunately, after that removal, my name was used again for a new fake page. I have filed another complaint and I'am awaiting your response.

Frustrating experience

This is the third time i"ve used GoFundMe, but was by far the most frustrating. Your site wasn't recognizing all of my security data, for some reason, and the fact I couldn't actually speak to a customer service person on the phone meant starting over and over again via chat with a new agent (or bot) - including uploading photos, etc. lt was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had in a long time. Spent countless DAYS WITH this. Get your customer service act together. However, the final person was an angel, as they patiently uploaded the data from their end - they should be given a raise, or promotion.

I can tell you I got first rate help from go fund me. I was having an issue with my account and as it turned out it was of my own doing but, the patience and kindness shown to me was above board. I can tell you, I have never received any better service from anybody.

An absolute bottom-feeder of a company…

An absolute bottom-feeder of a company with zero shame. How you have the nerve to siphon off a 15% "service tip" on a donation meant for my relatives deceased child and her little sister is beyond disgusting. You are nothing more than greedy, parasitic middlemen leeching off people’s unimaginable grief and tragedy. You are quite literally stealing money from a mourning family to line your own pockets. Building a business model that carves out profit margins from child memorials makes you the absolute lowest of the low. Everyone involved in running and supporting this pathetic cash-grab should hang their heads in utter shame. Anyone with a shred of decency working for this company should pack up their things and walk out for good. Do better, be of service instead and add 15% from your pocket to the donations instead!

I also appreciate the trust and credibility GoFundMe gives. When I share my campaign for my MSc in Peace & Conflict Studies, people immediately recognize the platform and feel safe to donate. The email notifications and dashboard make it easy to track donations and thank supporters. What is important for people to know? It’s important for people to know that GoFundMe is one of the most trusted platforms for fundraising, and it works well for students, medical cases, and community projects. My only suggestion is to expand support to more countries. Currently, some African countries like South Sudan are not eligible to receive funds directly. I had to use an alternative payout option. If GoFundMe could extend support to South Sudan and other underserved countries, it would help so many more students and communities access education and opportunity.

Horrible experience

You haven’t helped I feel like this is a scam. I’m about to cancel and send that one donation back. I created the go fund me thru Facebook I see my picks and profile but there is no where for me to transfer funds.
