I do not recommend

I purchased two and neither would hold a charge, one of the chargers never worked. One of the collars snapped and since it broke my puppy of course played with it. They have a money back guarantee but would not honor it because it was not in the condition I recieved it. I explained 6 different times that it broke. They would not stand behind their product even though it had only been less than 30 days. Do not waste money go to another company!

I do not recommend getting this collar

I do not recommend getting this collar. i purchased 2 collars for both of my dogs. One did not hold a charge and had to be warranty replaced and the other just started to not hold a charge and needs replaced. only had them for a few months and they are not working. do not even try to email the support email, you will not get a response at all. Customer service is awful. One of the collars is beeping at my dog when he is in the fence boundary. the fence boundary is not accurate also. i have 2 of these collars, do no buy a Halo collar.

The collar is not reliable

The collar is not reliable. Right now for the Last 4 hours it says my dog is on my property in a location. I go to the location - no dog. Tell it find collar. No sound no collar. App periodically states the collar connected to LTE at that same location. Go there no dog no collar. Absolutely useless. Not the first time it has been unable to provide dogs location.

Thrilled to know I won’t have to pay for a replacement. As we take great care of our halo collar and want to be able to use for years. Customer service was quick with fixing the problem.

I loved the halo collar aspect but due to lagging internet if your dog is a darker like ours was it alerts you to late. So in this case she was hit by a car because she went through the lines. She has a broken pelvis on both sides. We recommend Dog Guard under ground fence.

Works Great, but There Are Some Important Drawbacks to Consider

We purchased our Halo 3 Collar in March 2024 after our troublemaking dog led to a few unexpected vet bills. After using Halo for more than two years, I wanted to share our experience. First, the system itself works very well. We take it everywhere and love how effectively the virtual fence functions. We're also a big fan of the remote beacons for quick recall. My rating is based primarily on the collar’s durability and longevity, not its core functionality. Collar durability: After about seven months, the original collar’s battery began draining very quickly, lasting only six or seven hours on a full charge. Shortly afterward, the front indicator light stopped working entirely. Halo’s customer service was great and replaced the collar under warranty. Unfortunately, about 16 months after receiving the replacement, it suddenly shut off and never turned back on. Halo was again very helpful in troubleshooting and even sent us a new charger. We left it charging on and off for a couple of days, during which it would randomly turn back on and then shut off again. Eventually, the app displayed a “Motion sensor issue” notification warning that the collar could no longer track reliably and should not be used. Our only remaining option is to purchase another collar. Considering how expensive the collar is, I’m disappointed that neither unit lasted much longer than one to two years. I would expect a product at this price point to have better longevity. Limitations in remote areas: We live in a very remote area without cell service, so our setup relies entirely on Wi-Fi. As advertised, the virtual fence continues to work without cellular service. However, once our dog leaves Wi-Fi range, we can no longer track his location. We can only see where he may have reached the fence after he returns to Wi-Fi range. That makes the tracking feature much less useful for us. The app also cannot be opened without Wi-Fi or cellular service. We don’t always know in advance exactly where we’ll need to create a fence, so it’s frustrating that we cannot manually set one up while offline. Overall, Halo’s virtual fence works extremely well, and its customer service has been excellent. We still highly recommend it and have even convinced several family members to purchase one as well. However, potential buyers should be aware of the collar’s possible longevity issues and the app’s offline limitations, as they may lead to additional expenses or inconvenience over time.

20 Paws!

If I could give Halo Dog Collar customer service **10 paws**, I absolutely would. Jessica deserves **5 paws all by herself**. She was patient, knowledgeable, and somehow managed to keep both me *and* my four-legged escape artist on track. The live video tech support was incredible—it felt like having a dog-training genius right in my living room. The warranty process? Fast, painless, and actually honored without a bunch of hoops to jump through. That's so rare these days I almost thought I was chasing my own tail. If your dog is convinced the neighbor's yard is their personal amusement park, Halo has your back. Between the amazing customer service, outstanding warranty, and live support, they've earned a lifelong customer. **Official rating: 5 paws.** **Unofficial rating: 10 paws, a wagging tail, and a slobbery tennis ball of approval. 🐾**

**Do Not Recommend**

**Do Not Recommend** Extremely disappointed with the Halo Collar. The GPS response is painfully slow, which defeats the whole purpose of a real-time containment system. Worse, you can't adjust the warning fence buffer zone, so my dogs were getting beeped and corrected even when they were nowhere near the actual boundary. That's not just annoying, it's confusing and unfair to the dogs. To top it off, I returned the collar after only three weeks, and was charged a $75 fee, despite their return policy stating "full refund" within 90 days. That's false advertising as far as I'm concerned. Extremely annoying seeing my dogs had the collar on their neck for a total of 5 minutes. Save your money. The technology isn't there, the GPS is unreliable, and the return policy isn't what they claim. Look elsewhere for containment solutions.

Not worth the price for how long it lasts

I have had my halo 2 collar for little over 3 years now. It has randomly stoped working with the gps. I contacted support just to be told that the gps chip malfunctioned and I would need to replace the collar…. Well they want to charge me 425 for a new collar or 199 if I pay an extra 10 dollars a month. I originally paid 762.00 for this collar and it’s little over 3 years old that’s insane to charge me more and expect me to buy again when the first collar couldn’t even last a decent amount of time!!! I would not buy this collar. Not when you have to pay monthly on it to get service and the collar to be over priced for a crappy warranty that don’t even help when you need it. Ps I have a garmen tracking system that I paid 1000 for 10 years ago, it came with 2 collars and it still runs perfectly fine with zero issues. Wish I could reply back so people don’t think this company is actually going to help. You tried to resolve this by charging me more on a collar I already spent way too much for. You’re not interested in helping you’re only interested in looking good by commenting!!

When the collar is fully functional and…

When the collar is fully functional and working properly, it is wonderful. Unfortunately, I’ve now had issues with two separate collars. For the first collar, I wasn’t even aware of the problem until the Halo team sent me an email stating they had noticed an issue and were sending me a replacement. It was purchased on June 27, 2025, and needed to be replaced by September 26, 2025. I thought it was no big deal because they recognized the issue and handled it quickly with little assistance or requirements from me as the customer. Once I received the replacement, I unlinked the old one, set up the new collar, and my dog was back off to the races. I’m an active-duty soldier and travel a lot for my work, with my family assisting me in providing care for my dog. That being said, I returned from a military course last week (during which I wasn’t authorized to use my phone) and was informed that my dog had escaped and was almost struck by a vehicle. Initially, I was frustrated with my family, suspecting they had let the battery die because the app showed the collar hadn’t been charged. However, once I got home, I realized that the collar itself was the problem. I attempted to use a different cord, charging block, and power bank, but had no success getting the collar to charge. I reached out to the Halo team and started a warranty claim. They walked me through all the same steps but did ask that I attempt to clean the magnetic terminal, which I did. Now, to the frustrating part that I want everyone to be aware of: instead of shipping me a replacement collar to ensure the safety of my dog, who is like family to me, they stated they had to send me a new charging kit first in an attempt to troubleshoot the issue. This means my dog will be without the safety of her collar for an even longer period, adding extensive costs to ensure her safety and care while I travel. When I kindly asked if they could send both the replacement collar and the charging kit, assuring them I would return whichever one wasn’t needed, they stated they couldn’t do that. I also inquired if they would assist with reimbursement for boarding her to ensure her safety while I travel. Moreover, having experienced two issues with both collars I’ve received within a year, especially considering these collars cost over $500, and then dealing with customer service that doesn’t assist when you need it most is unacceptable. This is a no for me as a customer. Once I’m out of warranty and have another issue (which I now fully expect will happen) with their collar, I will be switching to a different brand. Be warned.

Have waited over an hour to speak with someone on your Halo dog park. We have had your product for over a year and a couple months. It has been replaced by warranty at least twice. Current collar is doing the exact same problem, malfunctioning, not charging. We are happy with the product when it works it just never works and is terrible to try and speak with someone. your system fails 95% of the time I have tried to speak with someone in person. Battery Junk I purchased a Halo 4 collar

I purchased a Halo 4 collar that would not take a charge right out of the box. It took over two weeks to receive a replacement, and since I had already paid for a one-year subscription, I lost two weeks of service through no fault of my own. The replacement collar appeared to be used, but since it worked, I decided to keep it. Unfortunately, after only 1 year and 3 months, it developed the exact same issue as the original collar and will no longer charge. Since the warranty is only 12 months, Halo refuses to help. I completed all of their troubleshooting steps and emailed customer support multiple times afterward, receiving no response. When I finally called, I waited on hold for 1 hour and 28 minutes before someone answered and immediately disconnected the call. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend these collars. The battery life appears to be a major issue. Everyone I personally know who has owned a Halo collar has experienced battery failure in less than a year. I was considered the “lucky” one because mine lasted 15 months.

Should have listened to all the negative reviews

Our house was built over 4 years ago and it still does not appear on the halo app so setting a fence is horrible. If you do not have a physical fence next to your house, which is why we got Halo, the collar assumes the dogs are in a structure and does not correct when they leave the boundary. The customer support is horrible, phone call? Forget it unless you’re willing to be on hold for 40+ minutes. Chat with a human? Typical wait time is 20+ minutes and if you are not waiting there to chat they will close it and you have to start over. I read the negative reviews before buying but didn’t listen, maybe I can save someone the pain and money of dealing with this product. I have 2 dogs, that’s 2 collars, almost 1000$ and am greatly disappointed. Do not buy Per their reply, I have updated the imagery in the app, no help and I have put in help requests to have map updated, no help. I can keep going as well, the reason for the rant about wait times and basically no way to communicate with a human started when I received a notification on the app that one of my collars was fault and they wanted to warranty it, great right? Nope, upon verifying info for a replacement they just turned the old collar off. For four days I tried to contact them as my dogs are now locked in the house when we’re not home, finally a week later I received shipping info on the new collar. Two weeks total will be the time that I have been paying for a collar and subscription I don’t have before the new collar arrives. Really for both collars as my dogs don’t like to be separated so as stated, they’re both inside. Anyway, reason for the long review is THIS is the most interaction I’ve had with the company in the 14 months I’ve had the collars despite multiple attempts on my part that I’ve had to just brute force my way through

Halo 5 collar randomly shocking my dog.

Purchased a halo 5 collar and within one week of use it shocked my dog multiple times, often several times a day, while my dog was in our house well away from the boundary. For the price of this collar I would expect better. On top of this the subscription for the GPS. I expected better. I will be sending back.

One of my halo collars just quit working after a little over a year. Wait times on the phone exceeded 2 hours to customer service. Attempted to contact someone in the dog park their virtual video help desk and after 5 different times with no one answering I became frustrated. For 500.00 collars you would think the company would have a more robust customer service team.

Good luck getting support!

2 hours ive waiting in the dog park with a 20 minute wait time being time out at the 60 minute mark both times. Ive been having issues for several weeks. I have spoke with halo 2x on the issue and was connected with tech support, reached out and i emailed back same day and suddenly radio silence, no response in a week. 1 of our collars has already been replaced 2x were having issues with our second dogs collar and quite frankly a $500 collar and $415 a year for halo warranty and 2 dogs its crazy to not be able to reach support and have things rectified in a timely manner.

Non working new collar, no support available - don't buy!

20 minute - so far - wait time to chat about a new collar that stopped working for no reason. Get an appointment - none in June. Bankruptcy must be next, because these guys are crashing from a customer service and product performance standpoint. Update: three weeks after finally connecting to Halo customer support and getting delayed by a "lets try a new charger," they have the following answer. "We'll escalate this to our specialist team and they will contact you directly my email. No, we don't know when. But "we will stay with you throughout this process." No contact by anyone for the past 10 days, despite daily request for a status update. Their reply to my original post is patently false. They never reached out for further information, no help.

My experience with Halo has been so…

My experience with Halo has been so disappointing. I purchased a Halo Collar approximately less than 3 months ago for my now 8-month-old Golden Retriever. The system is marketed as a premium GPS containment solution, and at roughly $600 plus an ongoing monthly subscription, I expected reliability, accuracy, and responsive customer support. Instead, I experienced repeated boundary drift issues where the fence line appeared to shift significantly from where it was originally set. On multiple occasions, the collar corrected my dog well inside what should have been a safe area. The final straw occurred when my dog was lying on his bed, nowhere near the boundary line, and the collar delivered a correction. After spending hours troubleshooting with support, I was told the collar was one firmware update behind and that the issue may have been related to a firmware update that failed to install properly. Think about that for a moment. A dog was corrected inside a designated safe area because a firmware update may not have successfully installed. My dog has no way of understanding the difference between a legitimate boundary correction and a software failure. All he knows is that he was punished while doing absolutely nothing wrong. The customer service experience was equally frustrating. Over the course of a single week, I spent more than three hours on hold with Halo. At one point, I was staring at a Dog Park chat queue that appeared stalled while the phone system reported dozens of callers ahead of me. To be fair, every representative I spoke with was polite and professional. The problem was not the frontline employees—it was the system itself. What compounded the frustration was the inconsistent information I received from Halo's support team. One representative advised that recordings and documentation from my troubleshooting session had already been submitted and attached to my case. The very next day, another representative told me something different and indicated they could not access the same information. As a customer, I should not have to navigate internal communication gaps, access limitations, or documentation issues between departments. Those are internal business problems, not customer responsibilities. Throughout the process, I found myself repeatedly explaining the same issue, recounting the same incidents, and answering the same questions. Instead of a seamless support experience, each interaction felt disconnected from the last. For a company selling a premium product with a recurring subscription, that level of inconsistency is difficult to justify. What ultimately pushed this review to one star—or honestly zero stars if that were an option—was the warranty process. Even after technical support acknowledged that the collar needed replacement, obtaining that replacement became another lengthy process involving additional contacts, authorizations, confirmations, and delays. At one point I was asked to continue exchanging emails simply to verify information that was already associated with my account. The long wait times were not a new issue either. During the first months of ownership, I contacted Halo support and expressed concern about how difficult it was to reach someone. At that time, a representative advised me that it was better to call on weekdays coz they were staffed. That response was difficult to take seriously. Ironically, the incidents described in this review was on a weekday. Halo continues to actively market and sell new collars yet unable to provide timely support to the existing ones. When a premium safety product fails, the replacement process should be straightforward. Instead, it felt like I had to repeatedly prove there was a problem despite extensive troubleshooting, documented incidents, and support representatives acknowledging the collar was defective. The most concerning part is that this is not a cosmetic defect or a convenience issue. This product is designed to deliver corrections to animals. Accuracy and reliability are the entire point of the system. When the technology fails, it directly affects your dog's trust, confidence, and safety. I wanted to love Halo. I was willing to pay premium pricing for premium performance. Instead, my experience involved boundary drift, false corrections, excessive support wait times, inconsistent communication between representatives, and a warranty process that felt far more complicated than it should have been. Most importantly, my dog was the one who paid the price for those failures. A containment system is built on consistency and trust. When a dog is corrected while resting in a safe area, that trust is compromised. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Halo.
