I have a canon printer / scanner and the MACos version I had a few years ago did not recognize it as a scanner.
Vuescan came to the rescue, although newer versions of MACos now "sees" it as a scanner (off and on!) I am using Vuescan with great pleasure, it always works.
Great!
I have been using VueScan nearly since the begining of it's existence. Have had some problems but they were solved nearly inmediately (I wish all software guys responded the same). I don't use it that much anymore but it is a good friend when I need it. Congratulations for good and responsable programers!!!
I had a Canon Canoscan 8800F, which was in perfect condition, and which, for some inane reason, Canon had decided to stop supporting.
It was (reluctantly) headed for recycling when I came across VueScan. It has now received a new lease of life.
Come on Canon. Get your act together. If a small company can do this, why can't you?
Many thanks to Ed at VueScan for all his help.

I use Vuescan software to run my old Nikon Coolscan V. 35mm scanner. The original Nikon sw isn't compatible with windows 10 or 11. Vuescan works great in my opinion. I had a couple of problems with intermittent communication to the scanner and some functionality issues, but the guys at Vuescan were very helpful and got me sorted. I would definitely recommend it for the Nikon scanner.

An essential part of my workflow
Ever since I went to a paper filing system, vue scan has been an essential part of my workflow. While I could photograph pages, the scanner captures them neatly helps me collate docs label them appropriately and save to different formats. I'm very happy with it!

I have used this product almost daily…
I have used this product almost daily for at least 15 years & have had no problems. I purchased the pro version & have been getting updates ever since. I use 2 different scanners & just VueScan on both.
I recommend this product.
I currently use VueScan only on a flatbed scanner, for old print photographs and for documents. The photo scans are very good, as are the document scans.
An option that I would like would be to first scan and then select the location where I want to save the scan.
I change locations according to the source. As the system currently operates, I have to first choose the folder location and then the file name.
However, this changes according to the scan type. Since I sometimes have to work fast when scanning, the scan sometimes goes to the wrong location and file name, as it uses the previous folder name and file name. Some scans are PDF files; some are various bitmap files. All go to different locations; even PDFs and bitmaps can go to various locations.
I would like for me to be able to first make the scan and then choose where to save the scan, rather than first defining the location and file name. Although I udnerstand for batch scans this is useful.

Keeps older scanners working well!
This great software has enabled me to keep using my old but high-quality scanner with every new version of Windows, including Windows 11. I have been using VueScan for many years and have been very satisfied. The company provides free updates, but I have been so grateful that I have also joined its voluntary Supporter Program.
I am finding VueScan to be very useful on my old Epson scanner. There are a couple of features I would like to see added. I would like to be able to choose the default function to be Scan, not Save. Also, it would be wonderful if the "number_001+ function" could be available for progressive letters of the alphabet.

I was using the scanner that came with the copy / print machine when I bought it. A few years later I had to replace my desktop since it no longer was able to keep up with my Revit software. For some reason my new computer would not sync with the old scanner. I tried VueScan and man what a difference!! There were many options I never knew were available and the print quaility is crystal clear - Thanks Guys and Girls!

Works very well, better than the scanner manufacturers own software
VueScan works, works well and is straightforward to operate. There seems to be almost no scanner it can't manage and always better than the software supplied by scanner manufacturers.
I've used it for many years one several different Apple Mac and with multiple scanners. Currently, I use with an Epson EP-2650 printer/scanner and with a plustek OpticFilm 7600i film/slide scanner. Works well and better than the scanner software supplied by the manufacturers.
Can output to a variety of formats, including a very good OCR capability.
The developer regularly updates VueScan and is very responsive to any reported problems, either providing solutions or even modifying the software.
