HeyGen revoked issued invoices after their own promo error without notifying users.

HeyGen issued a promo code for 1 free month of the Creator plan, which I redeemed and received a formal invoice/receipt (Receipt-2610-1477.pdf) for. Without sending any notification, HeyGen silently canceled my subscription and revoked my access. When I reached out to support, they admitted it was 100% their mistake, but refused to honor the invoice, grant a discount, or offer any goodwill credit. Very poor customer experience and unprofessional handling of an internal mistake.

HeyGen admitted their mistake but refused to make it right

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe other customers should know about my experience. I activated an official HeyGen promotional code that was sent by HeyGen. I accepted it in good faith and expected to use the Creator plan that had been activated on my account. Shortly afterward, my subscription was removed without warning. When I contacted HeyGen Support, they admitted in writing that the promotional code had been sent by mistake and that the cancellation happened because of an error entirely on their side. These are their own words: "Sending that code by mistake was entirely on us." They also explained that the promo code had been mistakenly sent to many users and that all activated subscriptions were revoked because of their internal error. So there was never any dispute about what happened. HeyGen acknowledged full responsibility. What disappointed me was what happened next. Although they admitted the mistake, they refused to restore the subscription, refused to provide an equivalent replacement code, refused to extend access, and refused to offer any goodwill compensation. Instead, after admitting the error was entirely theirs, they suggested that I purchase a paid subscription. I contacted support multiple times hoping someone would review the case individually. The final response was that escalating the issue would not change the outcome because the same decision would be made at every level of the company. Mistakes happen in every business. I understand that. What defines a company is not whether it makes mistakes, but whether it takes responsibility for correcting them. In my case, HeyGen accepted responsibility but chose not to provide any meaningful solution. I'm not writing this review because of the lost subscription itself. I'm writing it because of the way the situation was handled after the company admitted the mistake. Please don't respond by asking me to contact support again. I already did, multiple times. This review reflects the final outcome after all communication with your support team. I hope HeyGen will reconsider how it handles situations where customers are negatively affected by the company's own mistakes.

I work as a freelance AI video creator and regularly use a wide range of AI tools for client projects. I've worked on multiple projects using my clients' HeyGen accounts, so my review is based on real-world production experience rather than casual use. Unfortunately, my experience with HeyGen has been extremely frustrating. While the platform appears impressive initially, using it for professional client work is time-consuming, unpredictable, and far from user-friendly. Some of the biggest issues I've encountered include: * Replacing images is unnecessarily difficult and often doesn't work as expected. * The final rendered video frequently differs from the preview. Fonts, colors, and other design elements can change without warning. * If you've used a mascot character, the rendered video may replace or alter the character, resulting in inconsistencies. * Lip-sync quality is inconsistent and often requires multiple re-renders. * Editing an existing video is one of the most frustrating parts of the workflow. After making changes and regenerating the video, the updated version is often impossible to locate. The preview may show the latest edits, but the rendered project doesn't reflect them, leaving you searching through multiple versions and wasting valuable time. * The user interface changes so frequently that every time I log in after a few days, it feels like I'm using an entirely new tool. Features move, workflows change, and I end up spending time figuring out where everything is instead of getting work done. * The platform has many limitations that only become apparent once you start working on real client projects. Simple tasks often take far longer than they should because of unexpected restrictions and inconsistent behavior. * Overall, the tool feels unpredictable. Instead of focusing on creating content, I spend a significant amount of time troubleshooting issues and checking whether the final output matches what I actually created. Customer support has been equally disappointing. Responses are either extremely slow or don't address the actual question being asked. In many cases, my specific issues remained unresolved despite multiple follow-ups, making it difficult to rely on the platform for client work. As someone who works with AI tools every day, I understand that no software is perfect. Bugs happen. However, with HeyGen, these issues occur frequently enough to affect productivity, increase project timelines, and create unnecessary stress. In my experience, I spend more time working around the tool than actually using it to create videos. For occasional personal use, your experience may be different. But for freelancers and professionals who depend on reliable software to meet client deadlines, my experience has been disappointing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend HeyGen for professional production work until these issues are addressed.

Expect To Pay A lot Of Credits Every Edit You Make To A Video That Requires Edits. Because their generated videos are always having problems. Also the biggest issue is when you finally want to download a video, later you find out that lipsing is not matching with voice. It's different that what you see when you play the video isnide their platform.

Very Low Quality and Counter Intuitive

I canceled my HeyGen subscription because the quality of the videos generated was extremely disappointing. Despite paying for the service, I found myself spending more time trying to correct basic visual problems than actually producing usable content. In multiple scenes, my hands would suddenly appear with different accessories, incorrect details, or even distorted, almost alien looking hands. The inconsistencies between scenes made the videos look unprofessional and, in many cases, unusable. I tried repeatedly to correct these issues, but the process became frustrating and unnecessarily difficult. For a platform that promotes itself as an advanced AI video generation solution, I expected a significantly higher and more consistent level of quality. I eventually canceled my subscription while still having more than 980 credits remaining, which clearly shows that I barely used the service. I have also requested a refund for the two payments I made, since the main reason I stopped using the platform was not a lack of need, but the poor quality of the output. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend HeyGen. The concept is promising, but the actual video quality and consistency were simply not good enough for professional use.
