Great for startup banking
Mercury has been great for our startup business banking. The setup was smooth, the platform is easy to use, and it feels much more startup-friendly than traditional banks. Overall, we’ve had a very good experience and would recommend it to other founders.

Non existent customer service
Non existent customer service. I was unable to fully set up my account through an error on their system, but they gladly withheld my money which they insisted I transfer upon account set up. Be aware.

You can end up unbanked tomorrow...
We have a funded started, US incorporated. Fully compliant tech company.
They ask me repetitively KYC and infos about my residence... And suddenly they refuse the exact documents they ask for with the exact info matching my account... They refuse, and give me 5 days before freezing the account... Also, when I wanna change mail reception address: they explain me my address doesn't exist (which is wrong... I am currently writing from there)... And if you move house one day... OMG don't do that you can't even change your address... I wish there was no moderation because I would speak very colorful of them.

Will definitely not recommend this institution. They are extremely unprofessional.
Rather apply with Relay … much much better.

Unexpected Account Closure With No Opportunity to Respond
As the founder of a U.S. company serving multinational enterprise clients, I expected a banking partner that understood how critical operational continuity is.
After using Mercury as our primary U.S. banking platform for the past years, our account was closed following an internal review. We fully respect that banks have regulatory obligations and must make risk-based decisions. However, what disappointed us was the process.
We were never contacted to clarify our business model or transaction activity, nor were we asked to provide any additional documentation before the decision was made. After receiving the closure notice, we repeatedly requested a senior compliance review and offered to provide client agreements, invoices, source of funds documentation, payroll records, and any other information they required. We were simply told the decision could not be reconsidered.
The closure notice gave us LESS THAN two weeks to migrate our banking operations. For a company supporting enterprise clients worldwide, that meant urgently opening replacement banking relationships, updating payment instructions globally, and ensuring there was no disruption to client payroll.
Fortunately, we were able to transition in time. However, the experience highlighted an important lesson.
If you are an early-stage startup or a founder using Mercury as your only bank, have a backup banking relationship from day one. Regardless of the reason for closure, relying on a single fintech bank creates unnecessary operational risk.
We understand Mercury has the right to make its own risk decisions. We only wish we had been given an opportunity to answer questions or provide additional information before a final decision that had such a significant impact on our business.
Based on our experience, I would avoid this bank at all costs.

Mercury closed my business account with no explanation.
I banked with Mercury for Aruma Investments. On 24 June 2026 I woke up to an email saying Mercury could no longer offer services and I had until 24 July to move my funds. No reason given.
Hours earlier I had submitted every document they requested. The dashboard showed green check marks on all of it. I was told the review would take 3 to 4 weeks and I would be contacted if anything was missing.
I asked for an explanation four times. Every reply repeated the same script: closure decisions are based on internal factors, they cannot share details, and they will not reconsider. Their only offer was to apply for a new account, with no guarantee of approval.
A bank can decide who it serves. Doing it with zero transparency, right after confirming my documents passed, is a different problem. I had no opportunity to fix anything, because no one would tell me what was wrong.
I cannot recommend Mercury to any founder who needs a dependable banking relationship.

Auto-rejected after submitting everything — and zero working support
Avoid if you actually need to talk to a human. I submitted every single document Mercury asked for, completed the full application, and was still declined automaticall no reason given, no explanation, nothing I could act on or correct.
Worse, their support was completely broken the entire time. Every attempt to get help from their assistant returned the same canned error: "I'm sorry, something went wrong. Please start a new conversation and ask for a specialist…" and there was no specialist, no callback, no actual human. The one path they offer to get help simply doesn't function.
So you're left with an unexplained rejection and no way to reach anyone about it. A black-box decision plus a non-existent support channel is a terrible combination for something as important as business banking. Deeply frustrating experience. I would not recommend.

NOT RECOMMENDED!. STAY AWAY from Mercury. Worst bank in terms of customer service. They have enabled mfa security to steal money of account holders. To much time spent to unlock my account and take my money back. still it is not done yet despite waiting more than 6 months.

no technical support
I opened an account with them; a few months later they asked for additional documentation. I provided it, but they kept asking for more and more. It got to a point where I was sending emails to tech support and they wouldn't reply.
They wanted to close my account without explanation, and despite sending emails, they respond with generic replies with no real explanations and don't answer either emails or support chats.
If you want a serious bank, avoid this one, when you have a problem they ignore you, so it's not a valid option.

Mercury looks premium, but the service feels cold and unreliable
Mercury has an excellent product experience and a very strong interface, but my overall experience with their service and customer handling has been disappointing.
The platform looks modern and polished, and their referral program is attractive. However, when it comes to support, communication and the way clients are treated, the experience feels cold, distant and highly impersonal. There is very little sense of real customer care.
For a financial platform, trust is not only about good design. It is about clarity, consistency, human support and feeling that your business is treated with seriousness. In my case, Mercury did not deliver that level of confidence.
I would be very cautious about keeping significant funds there. The UX is excellent, but the service behind it does not feel reliable enough for a business that needs stability, transparency and a real banking relationship.
Good interface. Poor customer treatment. Not a provider I would fully trust with serious balances.
