Musicbed are - by no small margin - the most expensive music licensing platform available. Most of their monthly subscriptions are equal or close to any of their competitors yearly prices, as such it’s safe to assume that customers expect a lot from this brand. Unfortunately Musicbed on no level delivers.
Initially the music choice seems adequate - it doesn’t strike me as larger than their competitors but the quality has always been high (although this is obviously completely subjective!) what is disappointing is the way in which Musicbed fail to keep up with their competition. I produce mainly wedding films and as such often seek the same kind of songs, I noticed within a few months that I was just coming across the same old songs again and again with little new appealing content. While there is certainly new content, it is nowhere near the level you would expect for such an expensive website.
That said my main issue with Musicbed is their billing. I’ve been with Musicbed for around two and a half years and last month a payment was missed without me realising (I hadn’t been using the site much on account of the lack of new content I could actually use) - as I have not entered into any kind of contract with Musicbed and they had ceased to provide any kind of service my account should have been paused or put on hold. Instead of reinstating my account when the next payment went through Musicbed completely locked out my account. I couldn’t visit my account page, contact Musicbed, view past licenses or do anything at all on any Musicbed URL despite a payment having just been made. The only way for me to contact them was through a PayPal dispute in which they told me the account would not be reopened until there was no outstanding balance. So users are expected to chase at an outstanding balance that continues to increase despite no service at all being provided (not to mention invalidating their previously provided service by denying users access to their licenses and library)
Effectively this is a site that - once you are foolish enough to sign up for - attempts to completely lock users in forever with their entire back catalogue and library serving as leverage. All of this without any contract at all in place.
Genuinely one of the most appalling business plans I’ve seen from any subscription based company and absolutely reeks of being the kind of morally bankrupt company you should avoid at all costs.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to give us your candid feedback today. I sincerely apologize for the poor experience you had, and hope I can shed some light on the circumstances.
I'm sorry you feel the depth of the catalog did not match up with your expectations. While we add over 1,000 new songs every month, we know the search experience and perception of variety is subjective. We are always working on our search tools to make sure you are able to easily find fresh, authentic music from our artists.
I completely understand your frustration around this billing issue, and apologize that it impacted you in such a negative way. To provide some context here: all subscriptions are structured as 12-month agreements. Upon completion of the agreed twelve months, any subscriber can close their account, cease billing, and maintain access to their account history and previous licenses forever. Our policy is to put a hold on any accounts that are not in good standing so we can protect our artists and honor the subscription agreement. That said, I understand it caused undue friction for you, and do apologize for that.
Now, I would love to connect with you directly so I can personally review your situation and see if we can come to a more satisfactory solution together! If you're willing, please reach out to [email protected] and ask for Grant so we can work on this together.
Thanks again for your time and feedback, I look forward to assisting you further.

I had a very positive experience with Musicbed’s customer service. I contacted them just outside their 14-day refund window, and they were gracious enough to make an exception and take care of the refund for me. They were responsive, professional, and easy to work with. Based on this experience, I would absolutely feel comfortable using Musicbed again in the future.

Musicbed has been a reliable music source for me for four years now. It is so easy to find the right music due to all of their varied search parameters as well as the tech that allows for them to find a similar song to a popular one in their catalog. The customer support team is kind and helpful and I’ve always had a good experience working with them. So glad to have found them when I was in the wedding videography business!

Without question, Musicbed is the best music source for creative projects in the world. I've been an avid fan and customer for 7+ years now and there's nothing that comes close to the quality and selection Musicbed has. Not only that their customer service has arguably the fastest response time I've seen across possibly any company I have a subscription for. They are so attentive and quick to respond - 10/10 on every level.

Scummy business tactic to only allow you to cancel your subscription in the last month of a 12 month subscription. Tells you everything you need to know about this company.
Edit to the reply I got: There is no reason to only allow me to cancel future renewals after an 11 month wait period. It's just greed, hoping people forget. 'Continued access' is not a valid reason. Any of the competitor sites I use don't have this rule and I've been using them succesfully for over 5-7 years. I also don't need help to review my case, I've managed to cancel it luckily.

Hi Naick, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m sorry for the frustration this caused.
We do our best to make renewal timing clear by emailing clients when the one-month renewal window opens, but I understand that this process didn’t work as expected in your case.
Our renewal terms are designed to help maintain uninterrupted access to fully cleared, licensed music and avoid any gaps in coverage. That said, we never want clients to feel stuck, and we’re always willing to review situations individually.
I’d be happy to personally take another look and see what options may be available. Please email [email protected] and ask for Grant.
Thanks again for sharing your experience.

I've been using Musicbed for about 1 year now and so far I'm very pleased. My questions to customer service have been met with quick responses and detailed answers. I like the website design and the music catalogue has unmatched quality and depth. One of my favourite things now is exploring the playlists and catalogues looking for the track with the emotion I need to go with my videos. Thanks Musicbed!

I have had a very good experience with Musicbed. The quality of the music is excellent, and there are many different styles to choose from.
I especially like how easy it is to search for the right song for a video. The music is modern, emotional, and professional, and it can really make a project better.
The licensing system is also clear and easy to understand, which is very important when working on professional projects.
I would definitely recommend Musicbed to filmmakers, videomakers, and anyone looking for high-quality music for their videos.

Sadly, I have fallen victim to the same scam that so many others have had issues with. Their fine print can blindside you, so be careful. Unfortunately, many of the folks starting the free trial and thinking they can cancel at any point are likely not reading reviews, but I wish they made their subscription policy clearer!
Reply from Musicbed2026-08-11
Hi Stuart- I'm really sorry to hear about the frustration your renewal caused. We never want anyone to feel blindsided by a renewal or unclear terms, and we understand how upsetting that can be.
Our free trial is intended to give clients time to explore the platform before the subscription begins, and the subscription details are presented during signup, in account settings, and in a renewal notice email 24 hours before the renewal goes through. Still, we hear your feedback that this information should feel clearer and easier to understand before renewal.
I'd like to take another look at your account and see what options may be available. Please reach out to our team directly, or reply to your existing support thread, and I'll be happy to review this with you (you can ask for Grant).
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re actively using reviews like this to improve how we communicate subscription terms and renewal expectations.
Looking forward to assisting you,

Decent song selection. Horrific website and disastrous claim release system. The website is terrible. It is counter-intuitive and feels like browsing Alta Visa in 2001. When you search for a song you need, it doesn't come up even when you search for song title and artist. You can either search for artist or song. So you if the song is called "yesterday" you have to figure out which of the 19 different yesterday songs it is, or you can search for the artist "bcalm" in which case you have to go manually find the song, which can be tedious if the artist has many songs. The whole licensing procedure that you must do on every single song, every single time you need it, is beyond a waste of time. The fact that they haven't been able to make the process fast and efficient tells me a lot about their attention to detail - or lack of it. By far the worst part is that on every second video on average, claims are not released, so unless I am uploading a video on a Tuesday within working hours, I have to dispute the claim immediately, as I otherwise will lose ad revenue until the claim has been released. How do I get the claim released? I have to send an EMAIL and explain all sorts of things, screenshots, url, claimant, yadda yadda yadda. And even on weekdays you aren't necessarily getting a response or the claim cleared, so even though the dispute will - generally - eventually be released, the ad revenue from the video will be stuck in an escrow for at least a month - usually up to two months. This has been a problem for so long that I can only see this is as some kind of added revenue income for them. I don't like making a dispute, but I also don't like giving away my money to Musicbed which is already charging a lot. And the fact that you have to be signed up for a yearly membership is also just ridiculous. So yeah, decent song selection hence the two stars, but getting to the point where it's just not worth the hassle any longer.

Hi Joen,
Really appreciate you taking the time to share such candid and detailed feedback. I’m sorry for the frustration you’ve had with our search experience, licensing flow, and claim releases- especially when those issues affect your upload schedule and revenue timing.
Regarding search: we hear you. Searching by title, artist, or a combination of both should feel much easier than what you described, and our team is actively working on improvements to make finding the right song faster and more intuitive.
On licensing: I completely understand how per-project licensing can feel tedious, especially compared with other platforms. Musicbed uses a rights-managed model, which means artists maintain ownership of their work and each use needs to be properly documented. That model helps support the quality of the catalog, but I agree the workflow still needs to feel efficient for clients.
The claims issues you described are the most concerning part to me. Our system is designed to clear eligible claims automatically shortly after they appear, so if you’re seeing unresolved claims on that many videos, something is not working as intended. I’d really like to look into this directly with you and troubleshoot what’s happening.
One important clarification: Musicbed does not collect revenue from claims placed on videos. Claim revenue goes to the rights-holder. In some cases, artists or their representatives use independent content-detection systems, which can create claims outside of Musicbed’s direct automated clearing process. That said, I know the end result is still incredibly frustrating when your revenue is delayed.
If you’re open to it, please email [email protected] and ask for Grant. I’d be happy to personally review the issues occurring and help work out the best next steps.
Thanks again for the honest feedback. I hope we can get this resolved and make the experience much smoother for you moving forward!
