I DO NOT recommend!
The website is horrible. I'm extremely web savvy and it's got glitches, crazy limitations and no sound instructions. Had to pay for two years because time ran out and there's no support.

Hi Audrey,
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. We're sorry to hear the experience felt frustrating, but we want to reassure you that our writing platform is working exactly as intended: your answers and progress are always safely saved, and thousands of authors use it every day to write their story without issue.
On timing: your program stays active for the full length of your plan, plus a grace period afterward to finish editing and submit for printing — so you'll always have more time than the renewal date alone suggests.
We do have a real, responsive support team, and one of our teammates already followed up with you directly today. If anything still feels unclear, please reach us any time at [email protected] — we're glad to help personally.
Warm regards, The My Life In A Book Team
I simply like to have two spaces at the end of a sentence. Your program wouldn’t accept it. I have recently learned that the new standard for writing and printing is to have one space after a period. Still, I think it looks better and reads better to have two spaces.
When you ask, “what are some admirable traits of your father?” and there are several different ones to describe, I like each one to be its own paragraph. I like a space after each paragraph. To have an entire essay run together in one blob of text without paragraphs being separated as different topics, is a mess. Absolutely terrible.
So I got my ideas from “My Life in a Book,” which were helpful and stimulating. My 127-page story was published into 14 books by another publisher.

Hi Karen,
Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful, detailed feedback — and we're truly glad the questions in My Life in a Book helped spark and shape your story. Inspiring exactly that kind of rich, personal writing is the whole reason our platform exists.
On structuring your text, we're right there with you: giving each memory or trait its own paragraph is fully supported in our editor. You can break your story into as many separate paragraphs and chapters as you like, so it never has to read as one continuous block — each topic can stand on its own, just as you describe. Our writing platform was recently redesigned to make this kind of structuring smoother and more intuitive, and we keep refining it.
On spacing, our formatting follows today's publishing and typography standards so that every book comes out clean and consistent in print — and our team is glad to walk through your specific layout preferences with you to get the result you have in mind.
You're always welcome to reach us at [email protected] — we'll be happy to help you personally.
Warm regards,
The My Life In A Book Team

The program was easy to work and results in a high quality keepsake for our grandchildren
The program was easy to work to my own way. Your weekly questions are a great start but I elected to write almost all my own questions for documenting our journey in life. We ordered enough copies for our 10 Grandchildren and they'll know much more about us and included a lot of pictures for them.
Only constructive comment I'd make is wish the MyAnswers page that shows the title questions for each story in the order we choose would be included in beginning of the print of a book to give the reader the question and page number.
Thank you for a quality book and program to meet our needs

No mention of one year expirations until the year was up
Be warned that you will only have 12 months to complete this book + 1 month for edits. After that, your printing "credits" expire and you have to pay another $60 to extend them and your access to the platform. NOT recommended for older adults, like my dad whom I purchased for, who may have health issues arise preventing them from completing the book within a year. To further my poor experience, I received an email offer to share my experience in exchange for an Amazon gift card. Upon completing the survey and even following up, still no gift card. Lame company all around.

Hi Lara,
Thank you for sharing your experience. Your feedback is very valuable and helps us improve our service.
I’m sorry for the frustration this caused, especially given your father’s situation. In cases like this, where external circumstances may prevent someone from completing their book within the initial timeframe, we can absolutely review and grant an extension.
Regarding the survey, we did receive your answers, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share them. One of our Customer Experience team members will contact you privately to arrange the promised gift card and assist with the extension.
Kind regards,
The My Life in a Book Team

High quality book that instantly became a family heirloom
My daughter book me this experience as a present for my birthday, to write my life over a year. Confess I started well with answering weekly questions, but then got a little behind. However as the anniversary of my birthday loomed I decided to push to complete and am so glad that I did.
When stuck the support team were quick to answer my questions, and apart from that the system is easy to use. When the final product was received I was very impressed and confess a bit surprised with the quality of the A5 hard back. The process brought back to me great memories of my life and we now have something as a record of my life for generations to come.
No one answers emails EVER!!! Mother charged twice for reprints. Never received the two books. Very disappointing for a 96 year old mother. Can’t seem to find a pathway to communicate and resolve this issue.

— The My Life In A Book Team
If you are looking for the perfect site to write your story, I recommend HIGHLY MY LIFE IN A BOOK. From the moment my stories began until the stories were ready for publication, the friendly staff was professional, returned answers of my numerous questions in super-fast turnaround time, and gave accurate and excellent advice.
At one point in my story-writing journey, I had a specific request that I thought would pose a huge problem. As it turned out, the staff went above and beyond and solved the problem with a very beneficial resolution.
The hard-covered copy of my Book far exceeds my expectation of the final copy - So professionally executed that it looks like a book that would have a place of honor on a library shelf.
If you desire to record your treasured memories to pass on to continuing generations, MY LIFE IN A BOOK will exceed your expectations, and then some!

My Life in a Book was a gift
My Life in a Book was a gift that I mostly ignored until it was close to expiring. The company didn't bug me. They sent me the questions and let me choose what to answer. I added photographs and just before it expired, I submitted it. It was promptly printed and beautifully bound. It was then mailed to me in a timely and professional manner. I was just disappointed that I had not taken advantage of the opportunity to write more. I renewed the subscription so I could really enjoy the experience, and I plan on making my next book so interesting that my kids will be asking for copies.

Super helpful team and great gift
Super helpful whenever you have questions and love the book. The website interface could be worked on as it’s a bit tricky to make changes and format the book but apart from that love it. Such a good gift

Very engaging, interesting process
My daughter sent me a link to create a prepaid "My Life in a Book" for my birthday last year and it turned out to be a truly worthwhile, engaging experience.
Although I'd previously made several photobooks, I'd not known of this business or its products, so it was a complete surprise - but a very good one.
After the first few few weeks, during which I really was just "finding my way" through the concept and process, I became very interested and looked forward adding more material each week. The weekly questions were generally pretty well targeted, but I quickly discovered that any that didn't capture my enthusiasm could very easily be changed to suit my preferences.
It became much easier once I became more familiar with the process and software, so I looked forward to each week's new challenge.
You do need to dedicate the time to keep on top of it, because once you fall behind for a few weeks, it can be a minor challenge to catch up.
My recommendation is to contact the "Help Team" if/when needed. I found them to be very responsive, able to quickly steer me in the right direction and resolve whatever had me puzzled.
I think it was great to be able to add pictures as I worked my way through the book, as well as to edit or replace them later during reviews.
The finished, hardcover result is very good and I'm exceptionally pleased with the high-quality, professionally printed hardcover book.

I thought it was a great idea…
I thought it was a wonderful gift idea for my Mum and got her this for a Mothers Day. We are just at the final stage now and awaiting the book to be printed. Mum found the questions quite repetitive and struggled to answer a few. Unfortunately, there won’t be many pages to the book due to Mum skipping them due to them either not being appropriate to her life or not knowing they could be swapped. Still a marvellous idea and for those who are computer literate - it’s ideal.
I was a bit leery at first when my daughter gave me this gift, thinking I wouldn't have enough to say, but lo and behold, I was struggling to keep the book down to 500 pages! It was a great opportunity to reflect on my life and share stories with my children. It pushed me to go through all of my family photos and it was wonderful that I could include images and text in the book. Customer service was great; I had several questions over the last year and they were answered promptly. The books themselves are high-quality, bound books. Overall, my experience was wonderful!

I have only good things to say about my life in a book.
My wife was bought one by our granddaughters, we found it very interesting remembering things that we had completely forgotten about.any issues we came across were soon sorted out by the very experienced team at my life in a book, we had some difficulty with photographs but the staff were wonderful and soon sorted them out.our six copies arrived when they said they would.
We were so impressed with the overall quality and helpfulness of the staff, my wife bought me a book to do for myself to complete.i am nearing the end of my book,so both my wife and I are looking forward to reading what I have written.when I have finished writing.
Great gift and concept
I assumed that the tool will be easy to use for non digitally savvy elderly people but this was proven optimistic.
The questions can sometimes feel repetitive and/or not relevant.
But all in all a great idea.
This book was a precious gift from my beautiful daughter! I am behind in writing up my answers but a lot of hospitalisation has caused that. It is the most wonderful idea for my children & Grandchildren to have & keep for future generations to come! I will be right onto it next week I hope!

This has been a really magical experience. I really appreciated how we can edit questions, skip questions, give more time, etc. They truly allow you to make this YOUR experience. Would recommend for anyone.
I love writing this book. It made me think long and hard about my life. I only used a few of your questions but I did use some to give me ideas. My daughter wanted literally the story of my life so I did it as a time line. It a great idea, I will leave it for my children as a record of my life.
