To preface, I love everything about the PF closest to my home, except for the manager. The manager is the sole reason why my review is one-star instead of five. I've had 3 interactions with her; each involved her arguing with me. When I pushed back, she threatened to cancel my membership as if PF were the only club around; there are literally hundreds of gyms near & in Detroit metro. Two of the interactions stemmed from her telling me that someone informed her that I didn't wipe down the free weight grips after use. It appears the club is managed via informants. When I informed her that a wet floor cone was placed in front of the men's urinals where urine had collected and boogers left on the walls for weeks, she couldn't go look for herself. When I took photos for her, she asked if I was sure it wasn't water. There is no excuse for placing a wet floor cone in front of a urinal and not cleaning up the urine. By not cleaning and drying the floor, men are forced to step in it, and then it gets tracked throughout the club. She said it was a health code regulation to place the cone and threatened to cancel my membership if "I were going to be a problem." Fact of life: when men urinate, dribbles often fall on the floor. Disgusting as that may be, all men accept and deal with this, sometimes even in their homes. We also deal with the fact that wiping free-weight grips doesn't and will never happen. If we're too grossed out by unwiped free weight grips, we can buy free weights for home use a lot cheaper than a PF membership. Early in my working years I was a retail manager, and customer service was #1. I know what good and bad service is like. P.S. I wouldn't be adding this here if there was a way to contact the corporate office or the CEO via LinkedIn. I guess they don't care.

I started Planet Fitness in 2019
I started Planet Fitness in 2019. It was good then. Staff was good, educated, clean. Now, dirty, uneducated managers are incompetent. The price is the only good side. It gets silly being there usually people quit. I like the hydro bed. My son hated it so I got him a membership elsewhere. I’m about done the staff are idiots. They hire anybody with an IQ of 2 and that’s being nice. The machines are okay but they don’t always work. The employees aren’t really the problem it’s the leadership. Managers are usually bossy women brainless who got a job by being the wokest they can be, who don’t know how to work the computers so they make up an excuse. Just dumb. It used to be a yes place now they say no and make up an excuse. I see it out of business in 2 years. The purple color is lame and their lunk alarms are on another level of stupid. There’s not even a bench press.
Great gym for when you wanna go. Open all day and clean equipment. My one star is for when you wanna cancel your membership. There is no way very frustrating!

Predatorial.. I'm an old disabled man on ODSP. I joined the jim on the 5th of January a day later my car broke down leaving me with no way to get there. Before the week was over I called to cancel, and they said I had to go the the jim to cancel.. I walked there in the cold and snow to cancel, and the lady said it was done.. last week Friday I walked to the grocery store to get groceries to find that they went into my account and took $41.00 of the $50.00 that I had. It was all I had. My name is David Plummer.. I live in Mississauga 1km to there dundas and bixie location.. They sent me a message today saying I owe them $122.00 + late fees.. I had to close my bank account.
Love planet fitness on Wabash in Springfield IL . Today I met Camden and Jazzie . It was busy in the planet fitness today and these two handled it great . Great customer service here and super clean . Also so love the spa here as it’s great to workout then go to the spa !
I think this gym is a great deal. They are open 24 hours a day and they are super reasonably priced . I am always able to get on machines I want and their app is a good way to make sure the club isn't crowded before going . Oh and they massage chaors red light and tanning there as well too.

Planet fitness and gym memberships are a rip off. They won't let you cancel. Planet fitness took my money and had no remorse when I told them it over drafted my account. I am never committing to any gym membership.

I’ve been really disappointed with the red light therapy service at this gym. Several of the machines have been out of service for an extended period of time, which makes it frustrating to rely on something that’s advertised as an available amenity.
On top of that, I haven’t noticed any results from the sessions I’ve been able to use. It’s hard to tell whether that’s due to inconsistent maintenance, machines not functioning properly, or simply the equipment not being effective — but either way, it hasn’t delivered what was promised.
If this service is going to be promoted as part of the membership, the machines need to be consistently working and properly maintained. I hope management addresses these issues soon.

Bad! Bad! Cancellation policies! & No Help! Don't do it!
My son and I signed up several months ago for planet fitness online. Then I was in a car accident and I'm partially disabled now with no transportation and I have tried to cancel this membership multiple times! not only do they not give you any way to cancel except for coming into the gym, they signed us up for a PF gym in a completely different city that we don't live in and they expect me to travel to a different city to cancel a gym membership! This makes me so furious! So they are basically just destroying people's credit so they can make a buck! Never sign up for a gym that makes it difficult for you to cancel! They will destroy your credit in the process and then send you to collection agencies. Very disappointed in planet fitness I was hoping for better!

Very disappointed with how my billing issue was handled at this Planet Fitness location.
I re-subscribed late 2025 and was charged the $49 annual fee in November. Then in January, I was charged the $49.99 annual fee AGAIN, along with multiple monthly surcharges and even a $20 late fee — even though I only have ONE bank account and have never changed my payment information.
When I tried to resolve it, I was told only the store manager, Aiden, could help. For two weeks, he was never available in person or by phone. Each time I mentioned contacting corporate, he suddenly returned my call within an hour.
He admitted I was overcharged and promised a refund within two weeks. Almost 5 weeks weeks later — no refund. Instead, I was charged again. He refused to refund the $20 late fee and could not clearly explain the billing errors.
Very poor customer service, lack of accountability, and extremely frustrating experience. I simply want the refund I’m owed and to stop being charged incorrectly.
Corporate, please reach out to resolve this.
I just want to make a personal rating for ms Lyndsey Wood at the Orange Ave location in Roanoke Va! SHE IS AMAZING handles issues with a smile every time! Very respectfully always so polite.. entering and also leaving! Goes out here way to make sure everything is exactly how it should be before leaving... you need more people like her working in customer service 10PLUS F a 5 star
You are now required by law to let us cancel online in Washington state. My cancellation won't go through and it is telling me to contact my home club(Bellevue) please respond to this review with a number I can text or an email that will respond. I have reported this incident to the FTC. I have now contacted BBB. I will continue to file complaints until my online cancellation is processed.

They will trap you and offer no assistance. Their gym is just like any other gym so I find that irrelevant to their rating. If you close your app account all it does is block you from using the app but has nothing to do with your membership. If you cancel your membership they will charge you for that as well. They offer affordable deals with multiple fees added. They'll reply to your emails with an email you can't reply back to. Customer service is what is important when dealing with places that have multiple competitors and PF loses on that area which makes them a 1 star business in my eyes.

Gym That Actually Feels Comfortable
I’ve honestly had a really good experience at Planet Fitness. From the moment you walk in, it just feels relaxed and welcoming. It’s not intimidating like some gyms can be. The place is usually clean, the machines are in good shape, and there’s enough equipment that I don’t feel like I’m constantly waiting around. The staff have always been friendly and approachable, which makes a big difference. For the price, you really can’t complain. It’s affordable, convenient, and just an easy place to get your workout in without any pressure. I’m glad I joined.
Horrible gym as far as billing is concerned. Late fees are crazy and they try to take money out on the 16th of the month but my "contract" is for 17th of the month. Scammmmers
