I was super nervous to travel with a load atop the roof of my Camry from Colorado to Michigan. But all is well that ended well! Accept for a little water that seeped into the car due to not loosening the straps prior to a long night of rain, the trip was a cinch (no pun intended!). I was on the road for four days and rarely had to even tighten the straps. If it haven't been for the encouraging support during my over-the-phone consultation, I would have given up the whole adventure. Thanks so much for your outstanding service. Did I mention this was a solo trip made by a 60-something single woman? You helped me keep my edge!!!
We used the roof bag to move across the country from Ohio to LV Nevada. It worked well. We did have trouble getting it set up on the roof, trying to get items into it because it kept collapsing around the items. The mat under the bag protected the roof well but started to bunch a bit in the front, I'm guessing from the pressure of the wind as we drove. Overall it worked well and we're happy with it. Thanks!
First trip was 1600 miles. It worked very well and left us lots of room in our car!
We did not hit any rain or snow on that drive so can't tell you water wise how it would do but it looks like it would handle about anything.
very tough and strong. Straps made a vibrating sound at first until we put a simple twist in them. All was quiet then!
We drove from Los Angeles to Connecticut and this bag worked GREAT! I had the rubber mat underneath and it never budged. We hit some rain and it was completely water proof. Very easy to assemble!
Great way to transport 1st year college gear. Easy to set up and breakdown. Recommend getting the accessories such as duffel bags, extra straps, tire step, lock and storage bag. Expect to use it regularly over the next six years and beyond!
I purchased the RoofBag for a road trip for my family of 5. My Kia Sorrento doesn't have a roof rack so this seemed like it would work well. I'm 5'2" and was able to position it on the roof, load it, tighten the straps and unload without any assistance. It would be easier if you had one person on each side, but I loved that I was able to do it all by myself without assistance. It did rain during our trip and a bit of water did run down the straps into the vehicle, but our luggage stayed completely dry. It wasn't enough to really worry about, but I did want to mention it. I did misplace one of the straps and had to purchase a spare separately which was a bit pricey. All in all, this was a great purchase and I would highly recommend this product!
Roof bag is great for the price. My bag came without straps (ordered from Amazon). Called roofbag and they immediately sent straps. Great customer service. Just a heads up. If roofbag is not full, water can get into zipper. No water when bag was full/partially full. I would suggest keeping it somewhat full.
Stopped overnight halfway through our trip and everything in our overnight bag was soaked. In the past I used my daughter in laws roof bag and never had any problems. That's why I was confident purchasing one. We ran into a little bit of rain but didn't last long. I'm afraid to see what the rest of our stuff looks like when we reach our destination.

To avoid water entry, we recommend to use the carrier as full possible - when the carrier is full, the zipper flap will point down and protect the zipper from the elements, and the logo should always face the rear. I think it would be waterproof, but the one time I used it there was no rain. Heavy duty and well made. My only complaint is that I bought the no rails version, and it constantly needed adjustment from the wind. I really had the straps tight but that really made no difference. With rails, it would be a great item.

I have had the roof bag for several years. It always works and always stays dry inside.
I just ordered and recieved some extra straps and a carrying bag for the Roofbag. The parts were all in stock, shipped in good quality packing with instructions quickly to my doorstep.
I would recommend the product, support, and parts availability to anyone who needs an affordable way to carry luggage on vacation.
I placed an order on May 10th. I received a shipping notification the following Monday on May 13th. Unfortunately, the item was never shipped out. I wrote an email to inquire about the status of the order and received no response. On May 20th, I sent another email requesting the order be canceled and received a response the next day, May 21st, that my order would be refunded. I did receive a prompt refund at that point.

The saleswoman that I spoke with at RoofBag was very nice and helpful. Our bag arrived in a couple of days and looks great/well made and made in the USA! We will be using it for our summer vacation soon, then I will send another review after I see how well it actually holdsup.

I bought two roof bags (roofbag.com) where coating on one of them began to peel. I contacted customer service, who helped me with a replacement inspite of out of warranty. The replacement bag arrived and it too started to peel. Two out of three are defective. I contacted customer service, no luck since the product is out of warranty (1 year). The customer service started to give me a lengthy lecture about proper use, I told the person that it was only used a couple of times on car roof as it is intended.
Please be cautious before buying this product.
