SciSpace is an exceptionally useful tool for accelerating literature reviews, earning a solid 4/5 rating for its powerful AI Copilot and literature mapping capabilities. It excels at breaking down complex scientific papers, summarizing dense methodologies, and extracting key insights from text or data tables within seconds, which dramatically speeds up the initial stages of a research project. However, it falls just short of a perfect score due to occasional superficiality when parsing highly niche technical formulas or deeply specialized domain logic. While the platform served its purpose perfectly during an intensive period of literature analysis, I have recently decided to cancel my premium subscription renewal as the free features are sufficient for my current routine workflow—nevertheless, it remains a highly recommended asset for anyone needing to digest a high volume of academic papers efficiently.

Scam: $144 "Annual" plan Blocked in 15 Days. Then They "Found" $51.54 After I Threatened a Review. I bought the SciSpace Advanced Annual Plan for $144 on February 26, 2026. By March 13, 2026 - only 15 days later, my account was blocked with a message saying I "exhausted my credits." I emailed support. They ignored the fact that it was an ANNUAL plan and started talking about "7-day refunds" and "monthly renewals" which I never signed up for. They also removed my app history. After I warned them that I would file a chargeback and post this review, something shady happened: They emailed me saying I now have a $51.54 balance in my account. But here is the catch: They still refuse to give me access. To "use" that $51.54, I have to PAY for another new subscription first. So I'd be paying them again to access money I already paid. This proves 2 things: 1. My plan was NOT exhausted. They can turn access on/off whenever they want. 2. This is a bait-and-switch. Sell "Annual," deliver 2 weeks, then lock you until you pay again. They even deleted my payment history from the app. I only have my bank statement and emails as proof. Do NOT buy the "Annual" plan. You will pay $144 and get blocked in weeks. I have filed a chargeback with my bank for "Services NOT Delivered." AVOID SCISPACE.

I am starting a new graduate program, and this new app is absolutely wonderful. So I proclaim this tool Best New Partner for New Researchers. It is fairly easy to use, and I love how customer service is so respondent and understanding of issues. I am blown away by this app, and I cannot wait to upgrade!
Beware of Misleading Billing Traps and Non-Existent Customer Support
As a researcher, I highly advise against using SciSpace. While their marketing team is aggressively persistent when pushing you to upgrade, their customer support completely vanishes the moment a billing crisis occurs. SciSpace’s subscription models are filled with non-transparent traps designed to confiscate your money: The Credit Reset Trap: Any unused credits in monthly plans do NOT roll over; they are systematically wiped clean at the end of each billing cycle. The Misleading Plan Conversion: If you attempt to purchase add-on credits while on an annual plan, the system will covertly terminate and overwrite your remaining pre-paid annual subscription, absorbing its monetary value without any explicit or visible warning. Account Confiscation: If a monthly renewal fails for any minor issue, the system immediately drops your account to "Basic" and resets your balance to zero, illegally erasing over 1,000+ credits that were fully paid for with hard-earned money. When these system discrepancies occur, their live support offers zero help, ignores queries, or hides behind automated, unhelpful responses. To fellow researchers and academics: do not waste your funding or time on a platform with such low integrity. There are now plenty of alternative AI tools on the market that offer far more stable, transparent, and high-trust services. Avoid SciSpace until they fix their predatory billing logic and respect their paying users.

I ahve been double billed by Scispace. A yearly fee and monthly. There is no where to get all your receipts for services billed and no platform to get in touch with their customer service.

This is an absolutely horrible tool. It is literally a conning platform. For a supposed research - oriented AI to not even be able to write a literature review section before exhausting credits is shameful. Try GEMINI or JENNA ai. This platform is useless.
