What people say
Top notch customer service!
I was unsure of which product would best suit the layout of our staircase. A quick response requested a photo of the area followed up with a drawing of ideas and exactly what to purchase depending on which plan I liked. Top notch customer service! We love our gates and would highly recommend them!

Great Decision!
We were skeptical of the price but this gate is one of the best decisions we have made as parents and homeowners! It looks great, easy to use, and safe!

Hi Jessica--thanks for your 5-star review. It is tempting to buy something cheaper, but the old adage of “you get what you pay for” is very true here as well. Thanks for being a Smart Retract customer! Deanna at Smart Retract
Do not buy
It was a pain to install. The instructions say there are video instructions online & that is a lie. I had to order special spacers from them when I realized that my install attempt failed. The spacers should have been included in the first place!!!!! Very frustrating. Then, after ordering them, paying extra and even more shipping, they showed up. I spent another 20 minutes re-installing them. It looked great. Thought to myself, well, at least it’s worth it to keep my kittens from going downstairs. I closed the gate and went downstairs. 2 minutes later my kittens are downstairs meowing at me. They went right UNDER the gate. Like the gate wasn’t even there. Worthless. It was a pain, it was a waste of time and it was a waste of money. One star is too generous a review.

These work great
These work great. I needed to connect two of them to cover a large space. Keeps my dogs and baby separated. Only thing is, by connecting the two, opening and closing them cannot be done one handed.

Spacers are important to use so you can open/close properly easily as well as take if off the hooks to move it to another place. We learned the hardway. It is because of the trim.

Hi--thank you for your feedback and your review. Yes, spacers are important to help keep the safety gate square within the opening and to avoid interference with the baseboards. Thanks again, and please let us know if you have any questions. Deanna at Smart Retract
Great product
Great product, easy to install and use, works a treat. The gate is discrete when not in use and not an obstruction or an eye sore.

Nice product
Nice product. Very well constructed. Unfortunately, no match for a high jumping cat. It might still come in handy.

The gate works great to keep our dogs running off the deck. Attractive, easy to install, and of good quality. We'll be ordering a second one to block off a stairway.

Great Design!
Our Smart Retract cat gate arrived within a normal time and it is the best option for training our cats to not go upstairs during the night. We really like the design and retractable feature! For added deterrence, we place motion sensor spray cans in front of the gate. Thank you for your excellent product! We will definitely recommend to other pet owners :)
