Love it. Be mindful that it is important to lock the gate.
Hi Mary-Elizabeth--thank you for loving Retract-A-Gate and for your review! Yes, it is definitely important to lock the safety gate. The push-and-then-turn lock prevents the mesh from unwinding, once it's secured in position so children and pets are not able to get past the gate. Thanks again for your review and please let us know if you ever have any questions. Deanna at Smart Retract
This gate is amazing. I love how easy it is to use, & even better how it retracts away quickly. No more fumbling with gates. It’s durable too, my dogs have scratched and clawed at it many times. Not one snag or tear! The best part is it’s actually beautiful and Everyone That sees it asks about it. Thanks for making a quality product that will fit such an awkward space.

I run a 24/7 daycare in my home. I am a return customer. I have a total of 4 Retract-A-Gates now. I really love the durability of the material. The fact that the kids do not pinch their fingers in the gate as they do with other gates. They are a must have for daycares and homes with children or pets!

Fast turn around, great product. We have had them for 3 years and with our latest child decided to have them installed throughout the house. Reliable, strong, fool proof - its a winner that all our guests are impressed with.

I've purchased two gates over the past 5 years and they are great. They've held up very very well. I use them both for the top and the bottom of my stairs and I find them to be sturdy and safe, which is the most important, but also, they are easy to open with one hand -- as very helpful feature when you are holding a baby with the other.

High-quality products and great customer service. I needed a minor part not offered as a chooseable item on their website and they sent it to me for free. You just don't see that level of service much these days and it only deepened my brand loyalty. I own two gates and recommend them to anyone with a need of a gate for kids or pets.

I've owned a re-trac-a-gate in the past. The 1st one I had for over 15 yrs! It is strong and durable. I've had 3 large dogs over these yrs that jumped up onto it with their paws and it still held up fine. I've had grandchildren that leaned on it, played around with it, and even my cats used it as a scratching post when it was retracted! Never had a problem with it. I recently bought a new one, the exact same one, only because I re-did my livingroom and wanted a new clean one. My daughter-in-law has one too outside on her deck. I highly recommend this product to everyone looking for a gate that is so compact, strong and looks pretty too! Thank you, Terri Lebel. Waterbury, CT

I bought two gates for my front and back porch to keep my 2 YORKIES in. Absolutely love these gates! They are perfect anywhere! Easy installation and they look great! Once you have one of these gates, you will never use the conventional baby/dogs gates! When not in use, they retract back. No having to move gates around, messing up your walls. It’s a wonderful product!! Great price too!

Hi Suzanne--thank you for your 5-star Retract-A-Gate review. Thanks for being a Retract-A-Gate customer and let us know if you ever have any questions. Deanna at Smart Retract
Bought two of these for use on the stairs. Added a kit to attach to banister using long zip ties that were included. Installation was straightforward for anyone comfortable with drilling holes and placing wall anchors into drywall. The part that is fixed to the banister does move and squeak to a small extent making it seem a bit flimsy but it does have the advantage of avoiding permanent holes or other installation. Seems to be sturdy enough but our 19 month old hasn't really tested the gates with his full weight. It does look nice and I love that you can move it completely out of the way when not in use.
Hi Alex--thank you for your review! Thanks, Deanna at Smart Retract.
This gate is great. Retracts easy, stays put all the time I never have to go back and readjust the gate, my dogs can see through it and when you don't want it open it retract out of the way. I have the hooks set up in my trailer too. I move the gate from my home to my trailer. Best Gate Ever

This gate was the perfect solution for keeping the dogs from going upstairs. You can open with one hand which is perfect when I am carrying an item upstairs. We left the gate just a bit above the floor to allow the cats easy get away if being followed by a dog. I would definitely buy again.
Hi Linda--thank you for your "perfect" 5-star review. Retract-A-Gate was designed with ease of use and opening and closing the safety gate with one hand was very important in that design. Customer feedback is very important to us, so please let us know if you ever have any questions. Thanks, Deanna at Smart Retract.
Simply does what it is supposed to do, well. Should sell additional pairs of wall catches so a single Smart Retract can close off several different areas. I used standard metal hooks to do this here.
