There has only been one negative about it using Talkspace and that was with my first psychiatrist during my first appointment, but I got validation from my new psychiatrist and my therapist and everything else has been helpful and understanding
My psychiatrist and therapist are the best ive ever had. Talkspace saved my life. I was able to get medicated and weekly therapy. They also took all the insurances i had whenever i needed to switch. I wiuld not be here without talkspace.
Thank you Talkspace for bringing Nicole into my life, she is a savior. I have never felt as comfortable with other therapists as I do with her, amazing!!!
They billed me for being a no-call while I was in their virtual waiting room. The psychiatrist was the no-show. After a great deal of time and providing proof, they finally refunded the charge. but that's not all. they charged me $40 again just a few days later for a session several months ago that had already been paid.
Only able to customize your needs so far. Had a difficult time finding someone who would fill my needs. My needs are sensitive to religious background and as such I really wanted to see someone who would be familiar with mine. Talkspace specifically states that it one category they don't support on the FAQs. I have also read that virtual therapy gives similar results to in person therapy in studies, however for those who truly need connection... I'd recommend in person.
It's a total scam, 2 clicks to enter and join and the Computer science degree to exit and cancel. They choose an unknown therapist for you, you don't even get to choose and they make it difficult to cancel even with 8 attempts and then they charge you for no show this is the type of fraud Trump has been talking about.
My therapist is a great listener and gives honest and helpful feedback. I appreciate the podcast recaps that offer practical tools to use between sessions. Scheduling is super convenient and accommodates my busy schedule.
Various pros and cons. There's nothing scammy or evil about the site, but it's buggy and weird to use and a lot of the therapists are freaks or utterly ineffective. It can be a real waste of money and time. That may be more a function of telehealth (or even therapy itself) than an issue with this site, but maybe they should vet counselors more aggressively and not anonymously show the feedback to the counselor right when you make it. It disincentivizes patients from making bad reviews of therapists especially if that therapist didn't have many patients. It's a hard thing to figure out because many patients can get unfairly angry with therapists or sometimes a hardcore style is needed or superior even if it hurts feelings. Any other misgivings I would have to say are to do with individual counselors rather than the site or company itself
I love the convenience of it being an app and the conversations with my therapist can be face to face or just audio. I am so grateful to have found someone I feel safe discussing my issues with. Amy is amazing.
We're so glad to hear you appreciate the convenience of the app and the flexibility of choosing between face-to-face or audio conversations. It's wonderful that you feel safe discussing your issues and that your therapist is amazing!
I put my insurance info into Talkspace and their system told me I was covered. So I booked the earliest session I could get with a therapist I liked, a 6am call, because I was relieved and excited to finally start care. I spent that whole hour opening up about deeply traumatic things to give a picture of what we’ll be working on. The kind of memories that bring me immense pain just to say out loud. I only shared them because I thought I was starting real, ongoing care. The second the session ended, I got an email saying my insurance wasn’t approved after all. I asked them to explain what happened and to review my insurance details again, since the site says it’s included. All I got was a copy paste “we’ve shared this with our team” reply and then nothing. It’s been 25 days now. No follow up. No fix. No response AT ALL. This is a mental health company. People come here already struggling and hand over things they can barely say out loud. Talkspace lied to me about my coverage, pulled trauma out of me, took my sessions anyway, and then ghosted me. Do not trust a single thing they tell you, including absolutely useless responses to reviews.
Has made seeking therapy feel more accessible. Overall a good experience for solo therapy, however I do feel like 45 mins of video chat is not long enough for an effective couples session, and Talkspace only offers this as the max time allotment for couples therapy that we tried.
Being able to get help from my phone has been life changing and I’m so grateful for my providers that always accommodate to my needs
My therapist, Melissa, stopped our sessions without any notice - very unprofessional.
I like the therapist but talkspace billed my insurance under behavioral health instead of using my employee assistance program which should have given me 10 free visits. Now I'm stuck with a bill for $125 per visit. They're saying that because they submitted to my insurance, they can't change to use my EAP so either I pay or they send it to collections.
We sincerely appreciate you bringing this billing issue to our attention. We understand how frustrating it is to face unexpected charges, especially when an EAP should have covered the services. We are reviewing our billing procedures to prevent similar situations and ensure proper EAP utilization.
My specialist via the site have been absolutely amazing. However, if you need support for IT issues or requests for medical records or have billing issues expect to never receive a response from the medical records team. The phone lines do not work either. The entire operations teams an unresponsive. I have also filed a BBB complaint and have yet to receive a response to that either. Use at your own risk.
We appreciate you sharing your experience. We are concerned to hear about the difficulties you've faced with our support teams and the lack of response. We are actively investigating these operational issues to improve our service.
Katy is wonderful and has helped me greatly. Your sign in process is a bit difficult at times.
We're so glad to hear about your positive experience with our team member! We appreciate you bringing the sign-in process to our attention. We are always working to improve our systems for a smoother experience.
I came to Talkspace because of the positive reviews I read about the quality of its services. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing, and I'm beginning to question whether those reviews accurately reflect the service. The therapist I selected, Kerdija, has canceled on me twice—both times after I had scheduled appointments during a period when I genuinely needed someone to talk to. What's even more frustrating is that I was never given a reason for either cancellation. If appointment times are available to book, patients should be able to rely on them. Repeated last-minute cancellations without any explanation leave people feeling let down, especially when they're seeking mental health support. Based on my experience so far, I cannot recommend Talkspace or Kerdija as a therapist. I hope the company takes situations like this seriously and improves its reliability and communication with patients
We appreciate you sharing your experience and feedback with us. We understand how frustrating it must be to have appointments canceled, especially when you are seeking support. We are reviewing your concerns regarding reliability and communication to ensure we improve our service.
App is easy to use. Nice reminders.

The therapist that I have been working with (Elizabeth) has been fantastic throughout the entire experience. Very easy to schedule appointments and use the chat feature.
