I regret to say that this is the worst company to deal with; had to use them because they oversee an acct that I opened in 2023. They use a call center with c.s reps that act like they don't care about you; it's like pulling teeth just to get help; the worst company ever. Very poor interaction and communication. Can't wait to move out of them. If I could give a zero I would.
In addition to over $200/year just to maintain the account they will charge you $250 to CLOSE the account!!! Be forwarned. DO NOT 'trust' your money with them.
Equity Trust is absolutely terrible at getting your money. I would never want my heirs dealing with such a hack, inefficient company as Equity Trust.
Just did business through noble gold for the 2nd time . The first time 1 was charged a wire transfer fee which was paid in the funds of the transaction. This time I received a bill in the mail for instead of it being included in the total for the purchase. Spent an hour on hold essentially to figure out why and to just be told I understand over and over again while running circles around the situation. They changed it for in the future for the transfer to be taken from my cash account but couldn’t do it for the transaction I just did even thought there is money in my cash account. Had another bad experience with my account a few years ago where they cashed a rollover check but didn’t put it in my account. Makes me wonder who these people are handling my money and if I should continue with them.
Very difficult to work with. I have sent multiple emails over the last six weeks to simply get a tax form. Nobody seems to know anything about it. Now I’m trying to pay a significant bill to a vendor and it’s reaching the point that it seems that want to keep my money instead of protect me from fraud. I’ve filled out a special form because of the amount, verbally verified the information when they called, now they refuse to process the payment because they say I need to have a wet signature scanned and, which I did. Now they went dark on me and no one seems to know anything when I call. What a pain in the ass this company is.
Make sure to do your research on this company many many more fees come at you every transaction you do they charge a fee if you want to distribution there's a fee if you want to make a trade there's a fee what a big mistake once you start with them you're pretty much screwed until you take all the retired minimum distributions and they charge you $250 at the end of the day as if they didn't screw you enough throughout all the years!!!
We're sorry to hear that your experience has not met your expectations. We understand that fees are an important consideration, and we strive to be transparent about our fee schedule so clients can make informed decisions. Thank you for sharing your feedback.
Terrible experience — everything was stuck until Av-ex Bri-dges sorted all
Excellent company, with almost instant, streamlined operation and response time! I had a bit of a getting used to a different investment mind-set, a learning curve, but after that it has been great!
Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience with our team! We appreciate your feedback.
Equity Trust is corrupt. They let 600+ clients lose their investments by allowing fraudulent precious metal transactions. Never notified metals weren't purchased but charged for storage. Nearly $50 million in loses.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your concerns and understand the seriousness of the issues you've raised. Equity Trust is committed to acting in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and custodial responsibilities. We take concerns about client accounts seriously and appreciate you bringing them to our attention.
Where do I start? - The Website is excruciatingly slow, and occasionally just goes down altogether. - You're required to enter your name and account in chat... and the first question when you connect is for your name and last four digits of your account - They "misplaced" checks received for deposit, two times in two years - As far as I'm able to tell the "messages" system has no function - Their one function for me is to track a gold-backed retirement account, but the prices and values are completely wrong
Equity Trust was the only option we found for holding private stock in a retirement account, but the experience has been frustrating AND disappointing. Their annual fees are very high, and customer support has been frustrating. When my private company was sold on March 31, 2026, Equity Trust failed to properly review the paperwork, needed guidance through the process, and never provided wire instructions to the transfer agent, leaving nowhere for the funds to be sent. For perspective - my non-IRA account received money the same day once processed. Resolving Equity Trust's errors has been a significant headache.
I was approached by an Asian woman to invest and earn ~10x the investment. I was shown the PPET website (without proof that my contact was employed by PPET). I was given a crypto address (no proof of who owned the account) I paid in $2'000 with promise that it would become $20'000 after 1 week. In fact it became $39'338 after 7 days. I asked for it to be paid out and was given the below message. "Dear user you have an available balance of $39,338.6 but you're unable to withdraw these funds due account ineligibility your investment account in our company isn't up to six months and above your minimum deposit of ethereum $2,000 deposit was meant $3,650 and the maximum of $39,338.6 but was deposited all at once you'd run an account bypass/upgrade so your account could be upgraded the ethereum deposit in your wallet account isn't displayed on the available balance your available balance State $0.000 because of this issue once your investment account is be upgraded your ethereum would be available for instant withdrawal to your trustwallet account successfully" This seems that it is the classic scam. You pay in more money and they find another excuse why you have to pay in more. The more you pay in, the bigger your loss if you don't keep paying in. The classic scam! I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO NOT INVEST IN THIS SCAM
This is actually turned out to be a mistake in the long run financially. Seem like a good idea. Imagine paying $25 every time you wanted to buy an equity in the ETC account. Wow what a rip off!! When you try to navigate with customer service to buy equities outside of that into wire money I have a horrible reputation with other companies and their service and trying to get anything done. All that combined with a big annual fee!

I tried to login to my account several times, changed my password which I have never changed but got message user name and password were not correct. I talked to two different people deleted information in my browser but was still not able to login. It took me forever to get my RMD. They use the spot value of the metal which could change several times since I made my request for my RMD. I believe it takes them so long that they can wait until the spot metal price is advantageous to them and they can reduce the value of my IRA. I did better using my stock broker since they can respond the same day with money deposited directly to my account and the ability to withhold taxes. Now I have to make a separate payment to the IRS. It is too frustrating to deal with metals for my IRA. Why did my password not work since I never changed it. Tried to access my account twice but then they locked it for too many tries. I also dealt with Goldco when I bought my coins and they never disclosed the fees associated with the buy. I don’t know why Equity Trust does business with Goldco.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating it can be to encounter account access issues, delays, and concerns regarding your RMD process. Please contact our Client Care team directly at [email protected] and reference this review so we can investigate your account history and work toward a resolution. Beware of Equity Trust when trying to liquidate your account. When my account had increased by 47% I wanted to liquidate but was told by Lear Capital I could not because the "smelters" were backed up and they could not accept my metals. I have been an Investor for decades and never heard of an excuse such as the one provided. After I submitted my negative review they called me 2 months later in an attempt to explain. Now that my account increase has lost 50% of its value, Lear Capital indicates I need to contact Equity Trust. However, Equity Trust indicates I have to contact Lear Capital. Imagine that. I still cannot liquidate my account. Time for the class action against Lear Capital and Equity Trust. I think the term for this issue is "SCAM".
They are the absolute worst company for handling your precious metals. They seem to change the process wait times and rules on a whim. You can be completely through on your end and they tell you "they have to go through a process" before they disburse your fund's. All the while, the cash is sitting in your account & you can see it. This is unacceptable service and personally, I think they are making $ through kickback by holding up your funds. Just like banks holding up fund availability after you make deposits. All the while, they are using your & to make themselves more $. I definitely think Equity Trust should be investigated. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL.
I had a precious metals IRA and working with this company as a custodian is painful. It took 45 days from start to finish to cash out my assets. Most of that was because of lack proper outline of the procedure. Add to that there is no way to directly contact the "team" handling your transaction. All contact is through there portal, via phone, via chat, or through a catchall email, help@...... The most aggravating part of their chat system is the transcripts are not saved or emailed following the exchange. I learned early on to copy and paste the text to notepad. Finally, now that I have cashed out and the funds are settled, they act like I am trying to steal my own money. My transfer request has been under review for over 6 days. The sale of the assets began April 5, settled on May 1, and today is Jun 3 and still funds have not been transferred to my new custodian. By contrast, my Capital Group IRA completed an in kind transfer in 4 days from request to wire transfer to the new custodian. My eTrade IRA, charges no fees and I get same day distributions and access to my funds. You are paying one of the highest costs in the business to Equity Trust, as well a fees for every transaction. You should be getting a premium client experience. Edit: Friday June 5. was told by an agent that transfers take 12 days to review. 12 DAYS! This was after i was told on May 28 it would take 5 days.
I opened an account around 2021 which was a very easy process. However, closing the account and getting my money back was a complete nightmare. I had closed several accounts and transferred money to my new financial advisor with ease until it cane to Equity Trust. First we were told to over the paperwork, which they claim they never received. Then we were told to fax, and come to find out later it was an old fax number. Then they needed a form with a medallion stamp. So I called to speak to a manager about the delay after delay after delay and I was placed on hold then disconnected. So I called back and after a longer hold I was disconnected again. The 3 rd time I was connected with a manager, explained the situation and was told she was “looking at it right now and everything seems to be in order to complete the transfer” and she would send me a confirmation email afterwards, which I never received. What I did get a couple of days later was an email stating they cancelled my transfer due to needing proof of signature and also to pay a fee to close the account. I felt like they were holding my money hostage. This transaction, from selling my metals to closing the account was 2 months,,,,ridiculous!! All the other investment companies tool less than 48 hours. I only gave them 2 stars instead of one because I did make money while they had it.
So here's the rub. They may be a good place to go with if you never plan on dying, but if you think that one day you might decide to close your eyes and never wake up. They are the worst company for whoever you decide to leave it to. I lost my father in a fire back in 20 and I have been fighting these people ever since. Everytime you call its a different person that you have to explain the situation to and they are most likely going to send you to the wrong person. Then when you finally get to the right person they are going to make every excuse under the sun on why they cant give you the money yet. Then they will lose your paperwork that you finally got together for them and you have to do it again. There is more, but the point is if you think there could be even a 1% chance the you are not immortal. Take your money out or go somewhere else, because your better off setting it on fire or leaving it under your pillow. They will never give it back to your family.
