Rotten fish in the trunk, Turo doesn’t care
I was a happy Turo customer for my first seven rentals. Last time the car had a funny smell. We hoped it would air out. It got worse. We followed the smell to the compartment where the spare tire is under the floor of the trunk and discovered decomposing organic matter in a plastic bag that had leaked out brown liquid ooze. I can only guess it was a fish. We could barely breathe inside the car. We took it back as soon as possible, driving hours out of our way during a family vacation and incurring $500 in extra expense to cover the rental through a traditional agency. On the iPhone app, it is not easy to report an issue that is not mechanical or safety related. When I asked Turo for a goodwill credit, customer service offered me a $76 refund and refused to let me speak to a supervisor. I will never rent from Turo again.

The vehicle was in perfect condition. Fuel efficient for a minivan. The host was very attentive and answered my questions. 100% recommended.
Turo is convenient!
Turo is an excellent and convenient highly responsive app but service is ultimately dependent upon the rental provider. For example the Turo app was easy to use though the service provider LA Auto Spot in Honolulu switched my vehicle at the last minute and delivered the vehicle an hour later than my reservation during a recent rental.

The car I initially booked was overheating, so I had to return it. Turo booked me a new car the same day —within 2 hours of returning the first car. The communication was excellent and everything worked out perfectly.

The vehicle owner charged me 25 dollars for 1 line lower than it was given to me, which means he filled his car completely even for gas that I did not use. This is robbery. And it’s principle.
First time with a Tesla
The car was fine. My first time with a Tesla, but there were some discrepancies. I was given access via the app to control the card but the car had a maintenance issue where it had low coolant which required the car to be charged more often than it should. I added my payment method to my driving profile to pay for charging, but I got an invoice at the end of my trip for all the charging fees regardless. Also, even though the host was accommodating to let me extend my trip, he met me outside the paid parking lot and asked me to exit there so he could save $5 for the parking fee. So I had to get out on the side of the road with my whole family, which we are a party of 6. Other than that it was an ok experience and the car was fine overall.
