Upwork offers a great range of job categories and useful tools for freelancers, but it’s been tough to land consistent clients as someone still building up my profile. Visibility feels limited without a strong review history yet, and connects run out fast in competitive categories. Would love to see better support for newer freelancers trying to get their first few jobs.
Upwork has helped me gain international repeat clients, and build long term relationships with them. I would like to see a fairer job success score calculation and lower connects cost.

Upwork provides a secure payment system and a user-friendly platform, which are its strongest features. However, my overall experience has become disappointing because it is becoming increasingly difficult to connect with genuine clients. Even with my Availability Badge turned on and Boost Your Profile enabled, I rarely receive profile views, invitations, or messages from clients. In many cases, I spend Connects applying for jobs, but clients never respond or communicate. I have also noticed what appear to be fake or duplicate job postings. For example, I once spent 18 Connects to apply for a job, and within about 5 minutes, the client posted the exact same job again. Situations like this waste freelancers' Connects and make the platform less trustworthy. I hope Upwork improves job verification, takes stronger action against fake or duplicate job posts, and creates a fairer system so freelancers do not lose Connects on inactive or non-genuine clients. These improvements would make the platform much better for both freelancers and legitimate clients.
UpWork Is The best Marketplace For Freelancer. Highly Recommended
For some reason, my account was suspended, so I can’t log in or contact customer service. I also tried submitting a form, but it redirects me to a login page that I can’t access. At the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any way for me to recover the account, yet I’m still being charged for the freelancers we hired.

Connects are very expensive. Less verified client. 80% of clients are commission based. service fee is too high at 15%.

My first Upwork account was suspended and I requested many times but all in vein. I was depressed. After sometime or i can say long time, I start my journey again from zero. Now I'm happy. I think it was a part of life. Now i have work with 50+ client and I always tried to give them my best. So I wanna say thank you to all upwork team. Stay blessed. ❤

Doing freelance with Upwork changed my life; I have a better income, more freedom, and less stress than doing offline jobs. Payment is very fast to Vietnam bank account. Although it requires connections, fees and taxes but it part of the business model. I feel like it would be better if the fees can be a little lower.
The platform is great in connecting clients and freelancers. I enjoy the knowledge based articles and tips I receive. They need to review their connects policies though. It costs too much to send proposals in some cases and you are "charged' for having availability on.
Honestly, downloading Upwork was the best decision I’ve made. I got my first client within a month, and I’m just so grateful for where I am right now. I get to work with amazing people and have more time for my family without sacrificing my career. If you’re a single mom trying to find a remote job from the comfort of home, this is definitely the platform to be on. I’m so excited for what’s ahead and hoping to connect with even more great clients in the future. Kudos to Upwork! 🙌✨
Upwork always takes sides with the employer... I have around $400 lost in clients that simply didn't want to pay and Upwork made them get away with it. Also, their "evaluation period" is the most absurd timelapse ever. If there is a pause for adjustments (from employer) you have to wait AN ADDITIONAL WEEK AGAIN! so you end up working 1 week for free.
