Upwork has been a solid platform for finding legitimate freelance work, and I've had good experiences connecting with clients here. The interface is easy to use and the payment protection gives peace of mind. My main issue is the layers of fees. Connects cost money just to bid on jobs, there's already a cut taken on every payout, and now they're adding a charge for bank transfers too. It feels like freelancers are getting nickel-and-dimed at every step of the process, from applying to actually getting paid. For a platform that already takes a service fee, this extra stacking makes it harder to justify the cost, especially for newer freelancers still building their client base.

I had a client in January 2026, her name is Brittney Campbell. I worked for her for 2 weeks and she agreed to add the work hours manually. But later, when I added the work hours, she rejected and ended our contract and disappeared forever!! Is there any way to avoid this happening again?

Nothing with current contract. But finding traditional tv buying is not on here ever… it’s all paid media. Only reason I’m paying right now is because of the client I’m working with prefers to pay thru Upwork.
