About this business

Music distribution is about getting your songs in front of the most people possible. That’s why over a million independent creators worldwide use CD Baby to release their music across all major digital streaming platforms like Spotify, TikTok and YouTube Music. CD Baby makes releasing music affordable— all our distribution services for just a one-time fee of $9.99 per release, whether it's a single or an album. And whenever we add a new digital retail partner, your music catalogue will be delivered to them free of charge. Many music distributors claim to offer free music distribution but charge additional per-retailer fees, annual subs fees, cancellation fees, and all kinds of hidden add-ons and upsells for additional services. CD Baby has no recurring subscription fees, so you don’t have to worry about us ever taking down your music if you miss a payment (there are no payments!)CD Baby also offers Mechanical and Digital Performance Royalty collection and Sync Licensing as part of our Boost service, as well as our Stages program for emerging artists. Stages offers a suite of valuable artist services, moving with you as your artist career advances and unlocking new opportunities such as expedited release inspection, DSP playlist pitching, and more.

Not supporting distribution to one of…

Not supporting distribution to one of the largest marketplaces on the planet (YouTube) while specifically advertising that you do is a bad business practice. I won’t be using cdbaby again and I will make sure to let all of my fellow bands and artists know why. Also, if I’m filling out an entire page of information just to speak with a representative, why do they have zero access to the information I’ve provided? More ways to steal info from you!

No Response from Support Despite an Urgent Issue

Very disappointing support experience. I opened a request and have followed up several times, but I still haven’t received any response or update. The issue is time-sensitive and needs to be resolved asap, but despite clearly explaining the situation, I’m getting no assistance.

My experience with CD Baby has been…

My experience with CD Baby has been great because they made the process of releasing my music as an independent artist easy to understand and manage. I really appreciate being able to handle everything from my album information, artwork, lyrics, contributors, distribution, and royalties all in one place. Whenever I needed to know what step came next, the process was pretty straightforward. I also like that CD Baby allows independent artists to get their music on major streaming platforms while still maintaining control of their work. As an independent artist with my own record label, that is very important to me. They provide a lot of helpful information and resources that make you feel like you can professionally release your music without needing a major label behind you. Overall, I think CD Baby is doing a great job supporting independent artists, providing useful distribution tools, and making the release process accessible. My experience releasing my debut album, Access Denied, has helped me learn even more about the business side of being an artist, and I appreciate having a platform that allows me to put my own work out into the world professionally.
