About this business

Music distribution is about getting your songs in front of the most people possible. That’s why over a million independent creators worldwide use CD Baby to release their music across all major digital streaming platforms like Spotify, TikTok and YouTube Music. CD Baby makes releasing music affordable— all our distribution services for just a one-time fee of $9.99 per release, whether it's a single or an album. And whenever we add a new digital retail partner, your music catalogue will be delivered to them free of charge. Many music distributors claim to offer free music distribution but charge additional per-retailer fees, annual subs fees, cancellation fees, and all kinds of hidden add-ons and upsells for additional services. CD Baby has no recurring subscription fees, so you don’t have to worry about us ever taking down your music if you miss a payment (there are no payments!)CD Baby also offers Mechanical and Digital Performance Royalty collection and Sync Licensing as part of our Boost service, as well as our Stages program for emerging artists. Stages offers a suite of valuable artist services, moving with you as your artist career advances and unlocking new opportunities such as expedited release inspection, DSP playlist pitching, and more.

Support media

First of all, thank you for providing a platform and valuable tools for independent artists. However, I believe we still need much stronger support when it comes to promotion and streaming. Every day, we compete against major record labels and artists with enormous marketing budgets, while independent musicians have very limited opportunities to give our music the visibility it deserves. It is discouraging to see how releases from major labels receive extensive promotional campaigns, premium marketing tools, and greater exposure across streaming platforms, while independent artists only have access to very basic features. I would love to see CD Baby offer more promotional tools for our releases, such as stronger Spotify campaign support, more powerful pre-save options, integrated advertising opportunities, and additional marketing resources that help independent artists compete on a more level playing field. Many of us create music with the same passion, dedication, and quality as major-label artists. What we often lack is not talent, but access to better promotional opportunities.

I have no issues with anything other than…

I have no issues with anything other than the fact that in my Reckless Again album, the titles of track 1 and track 2 are opposite. I need someone to reverse those so they have the correct name. Perhaps it isn't CD Baby that did this, beacuse I know I sent them correctly, but Amazon Music and Apple Music are playing the songs, but the titles are incorrect. One customer said that they use Apple Music and the lyrics aren't with the songs. I don''t know if that is standard practice or not, but he says all songs come with lyrics. How can these be corrected? If CD Baby is responsible for this mix up, who do I need to contact?

Room for improvement on release speeds

While CD Baby is a reliable platform, the release times are currently much slower than expected. Waiting over a month for a track to go live can be challenging when trying to coordinate promotional campaigns. By comparison, other distributors like DistroKid often process releases within 12 hours. I hope the team can optimize their workflow and speed up processing times in the future, as faster delivery would greatly improve the artist experience.

This company fails at everything. Not just one thing, not a few mistakes.... they screw up EVERYTHING.

Could not change my own copyright info after uploading. Raul, the idiot at your legal department, said it can't be done. You're talking to a BFA holding CEO who has years of technical writing experience—it was pure laziness and unwillingness to comply with a very simple request which leads me to the next problem... My YouTube channel for my artist was already up. With the single on it. I should be able to integrate that, easily. It's not nuclear physics we're discussing here, guys, seriously, I am appalled by the idiocy of this team. Everything is going, and you can be sure my word of mouth for your company will show, "They charge you up for support, do not provide any direct point of contact (ever heard of phone support, you fng jackasses?) make excuse after excuse about 'hands are tied' and other nonsense that they can hide behind their email address and make people wait for however long.
