Although most of what I use Fotor for ticks all the boxes, I already pay for Fotor pro, and now it keeps asking for upgrades to Fotor pro+ for simple requests. I'm quite happy with what I am paying for but I refuse to be pressured into upgrading all the time.
I have been using Fotor for over a year. Their website is very simple and I can get some edits done quickly and then move back to video production. I have had a few issues with images being uploaded at 5 or 6mb and then after the edit, the finished image is much smaller, 500kb to 2 mb. Now after each edit I have to upscale it using 'standard' upscaling to get the image size back up to a normal image.
I have found that the 'advanced' upscaling can change the image in subtle ways that show up later, like face changes and spots or dots appearing in the hair.
I give them 4 stars instead of 3 because they are always updating the site.
One issue remains in that multiple tabs opened with Fotor can use up all your RAM and cause your computer to slow or crash.
Firstly, Fotor is cheap. The basic pro subscription is worth the price just for unlimited use of the image-processing tools (the image uncropper is very good).
Secondly, I particularly like the Vedu Q2 Turbo video generator, the one previously knowm as "cinematic". It seems to have the ability to produce highly-appropriate facial expressions.
Keep those, and I'll be renewing my subscription when it comes due.
The basic image generator is nothing special. It's not bad, but there are better image generators to be found on Nightcafe (at twice the price) and, for landscapes and architecture, on Clipfly (free).
It's curious that I like Fotor for its video generation and Clipfly for its still images. Shouldn't it be the other way round?
What I don't like about Fotor is the number of popups. It makes the interface harder to use, as buttons move around the screen whenever a popup pops up, and it overloads my ageing Windows 10 laptop.
Hi Andrew — we’re sorry to hear you feel this way.
We understand how frustrating it can be when you believe you’re unable to fully remove or stop a service. If you’re referring to an active subscription or account-related issue, we want to clarify that users can manage or cancel their subscription directly through their account settings, and changes will take effect according to the current billing period.
If something isn’t working as expected or you’re unable to access these options, our support team can help you resolve it quickly. Please reach out to our support team([email protected]) so we can look into your specific situation.
We take concerns like this seriously and are happy to assist in getting things sorted.
I signed up for the “free trial”. Got an email about my last day and was charged that same day. When I cancelled, they only offered a half refund. PayPal sided with them; so I’m done with PayPal too. The actual services still want additional fees; the quality is crap. Shutterfly and Canva do a much better job with basic functions. My experience is that of the other one star reviews.

Hi Diana — thank you for sharing your experience, and we’re sorry to hear it has been frustrating.
We understand your concern about the timing of the free trial ending and the charge occurring on the same day. Trial-to-paid conversions are typically communicated during sign-up and in reminder emails, but we recognize that this can still feel unexpected depending on timing and usage.
Regarding refunds, outcomes can vary based on the review of individual cases and payment provider decisions, and we understand this may feel disappointing if it didn’t meet your expectations.
We also hear your feedback about service quality and additional paid features. This kind of input is important and will be shared with our product team as we continue improving both value and clarity of our offering.
If you’d like, our support team can take another look at your case details to ensure everything was reviewed correctly.
Thank you again for your feedback.
Scam!!!! Canceled my subscription in 2024 and was randomly charged $39.99 more than two years later. I have not restarted my subscription and my "account" doesn't even show that I have one. Terrible.

Hi Kathryn.
Unexpected charges are understandably concerning, especially when you believe your subscription was already canceled and you no longer see an active account. In cases like this, it’s important to review the billing records and associated account details carefully, as charges can sometimes be linked to a different email address or payment method than expected.
We recommend contacting our support team-- [email protected] directly with the following details so we can investigate this properly:
The email addresses you may have used
The date and amount of the charge
Any payment receipt or transaction ID
This will allow us to trace the subscription history and clarify what happened.
I subscribed for a year and was truly happy with my initial experience. The format was right, I quickly learnt the basics of AI creation and was happy to see my progress and that AI was being used for what it was truly intended. I found myself regularly on the daily leadership board and won a number of competition awards. I also saw some amazing creations and inspiration from other people. I met some wonderful people online. In recent weeks/months it has steadily declined. The company have been meddling with favored aspects of the site without warning or explanation. Rules have changed (sometimes from external pressures, sometimes spoiling the whole idea of innovation and creativity). They have forgotten what art is all about. It is hemorrhaging some of its best contributors, and some days it's feed looks more like a a poor family photo album than an exciting showcase of artistry and creation. I am not prepared to waste further money on this site

Hi Tony — thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback.
We’re really sorry to hear that your recent experience no longer matches what initially made the platform valuable for you. It’s especially concerning to hear that changes in rules, features, or visibility have felt unclear or disruptive to your creative workflow and community experience.
We also hear your frustration around consistency and communication. Changes to platforms like this are sometimes necessary due to safety, quality, or external requirements, but they should never come at the cost of transparency or the sense of creative space users rely on. Your feedback about lack of clarity and the impact on the community is noted and will be shared with the relevant teams.
It’s also great to hear that you previously found value in the learning experience, creative tools, and community engagement — that kind of environment is exactly what we aim to support, and we’re sorry that your perception of it has shifted.
If you’re open to it, we’d appreciate any specific examples of the changes that impacted you most, so we can better understand and address them.
Thank you again for your honest feedback.
This product is a RIP OFF!!! I barely used it and it was already clear the quality was terrible. Not worth it at all. Do not recommend. Save your money!

Quality can sometimes vary depending on the specific feature, input, or use case, but your feedback is important and will be shared with our product team for review and improvement.
If you believe something isn’t working as intended, we also recommend reaching out to [email protected] so we can take a closer look at your account and help troubleshoot or clarify what happened.

This company takes unauthorised subscription payments without any notification and then refuses to refund! I have no record of every having a "free" trial or agreeing to a subscription but all they do is cancel the next subscription (allegedly) and refuse to refund unauthorised / fraudulent transactions
My #1 complaint is their horrendous website design. Their online photo editor is a memory and resource hog, causing my browser (Firefox, Google) to crash unless I exit and restart the browser after each edit.
No excuse for such poor design which hasn't improved over the years.

Hi Bumblebee — thank you for sharing your experience, and we’re sorry to hear about the performance issues you’re encountering.
We understand how frustrating it is when an online editor becomes unstable or causes browser crashes, especially when it interrupts your workflow. Performance and resource usage are important parts of the experience, and your feedback about heavy memory usage in Firefox and Chrome is noted.
While browser-based editors can be affected by factors like device specs, open tabs, and cache state, this does not change the fact that the experience you describe is not what we aim for. We’re continuously working on improving stability and performance across different environments.
If you’re open to it, please contact [email protected] with details about your device, browser version, and steps to reproduce the issue — this helps our engineers investigate and optimize further.
Thanks again for taking the time to report this.
The tool is nice but they have 0 costumer support
i had a problem and they only thing i got is AI response on their chat with no way to get to a human representative
After a confusing signup process, €75 was charged to my account, even though I had only activated a free trial via Apple and canceled it before renewal.
The company repeatedly claims subscriptions can exist on multiple platforms (Apple, Google, website), but this is often used to block refunds. They start with no refund, then gradually offer more: €45 → €50 → eventually €60, even though this practice violates European consumer law.
It took me 15 emails, threatening a fraud alert, and disputing the charge with my bank before I finally received €60 back.
Tip: persist, document everything, escalate with fraud alerts and bank disputes, and do not accept a partial refund.
I was looking for a way to increase the resolution on some older images. It was only possible trying their subscription; so I tried the trial. I canceled on the last day and was still charged; it’s not a 7day free trial but more like 6 days. It's overpriced for the quality and service plus, to try anything worthy, it requires payment upfront. They REFUSE to refund. KEEP LOOKING for a better photo editing service, this one is simply GREEDY. Tried their customer service and they were only willing to reimburse half; obviously they know that their billing is shady and Paypal sided with them.
Complete and total scammed. They fraudulently charged me almost $60 for 200 credits which is supposed to be $5. I never receieved these credits or the $10 subscription I also purchased because I thought my initial payment didn't go through. DO NO use or purchase ANYTHING FROM THEM. Paypal will give you a hard time getting your money back. Their customer support also lies.
I tried the free version of Fotor first to evaluate the platform. After that I decided to upgrade to the paid plan, expecting more advanced features and better functionality. Unfortunately, the paid version did not meet my expectations at all. Many of the tools feel very limited and not significantly different from the free version.
The biggest problem is the subscription policy. After realizing the service was not suitable for my needs, I cancelled the subscription almost immediately. However, the company refused to issue a refund, even though the service was barely used.
For a yearly subscription service, this kind of rigid refund policy is very disappointing and not customer-friendly. I would strongly recommend that users read the terms very carefully before subscribing.
I signed up for Fotor’s 7-day free trial, realized on day one that it was useless for my needs, and tried to cancel right away. I still ended up getting charged $47.99 for a full annual subscription, then deleted the account immediately because I did not want the service. After that, support said they had no account on record for my email, yet I was still stuck with the charge and denied a refund
Fotor complaint
. From a creative professional standpoint, that is the real issue: the product was not valuable enough to keep, the cancellation flow was bad, and the support experience made it worse. I would not recommend Fotor to artists who need clear subscription terms, easy cancellation, and customer support that can actually solve a billing problem. This felt less like a useful tool and more like a subscription trap.
Dismal. Not only were the AI utilities worse than many free programs, but when I canceled literal moments after I was charged after the free trial, I was told by customer support that they would refund me…and then escalated support offered a review of a few dollars.
If a company has to fight you over a refund like that, they don’t stand by their product. They just hope you forget to cancel in time.
I didnt use Fotor for many months, paid for yearly membership, I remember I did cancel my subscription I dont know how I am been charged , at least send me an email notification that I will be charged soon, so then I ll see what can do
