No refund possible after service canceletion.
We've been tricked into a 3 year deal. Nobody ask as if we need or want it. When we had to cancel the service after 2 years we didn't get any refund.
Bad business.

I had a problem and they solved it
These people are very efficient and truly customer friendly.
Their pricing models were somewhat unclear, and it felt like they were pushing me towards something that was not in my best interest. Most aggravatingly, they abruptly cancelled their contract with me, and gave me ten days to find a new hosting provider. Then, terrible UI with their backup software overwrote three months of my work. I had to go on Internet Archives to find my old articles and rewrite them.
A terrible experience.
EDIT: I see HostPapa is now contesting my review. They need more information. Apparently their internal systems are so shoddy that they can't find me out just using my name. Obviously, that's not believable, they just want to hassle me into removing my review.
EDIT 2: Actually, that makes me remember, they tried charging me for almost $900 to auto-renew another site of mine that was long dead. In and of itself this would be fine, except the emails they sent me were incredibly misleading, strongly implying that I had to actively renew. Later I see a see a ~$900 charge on my credit card. Thank God I found within a month or so.
To be fair, after some back and forth, they refunded me. On the whole, the people who work for the company in customer support are pleasant to deal with. It's just the policies that, no doubt, come from the top, which lead to this scummy behaviour.
EDIT 3: Please note that the review from a HostPapa employee below ignores the entirety of my second point. The issue is not that my pricey, three year subscription renewed, it was the sneaky and way they went about things.
Below is one of four emails they sent me when asking me to renew (not auto) another dead website of mine. Please note how clearly they communicated to me that this particular site was about to expire.
"Dear Customer,
Your domain name(s) will expire in 5 days. Act now to avoid any disruption to email or website services and avoid losing your chosen name(s).
The domain name(s) due for renewal are:
website name, 2025-10-28, (Days Until Expiry) 4, Autorenew Enabled (N)
IMPORTANT
If the domain name(s) are not renewed during the next 5 days, the domain will no longer work. This will affect all email and websites that use the domain, as they will no longer be available.
To avoid disruption to your service, PLEASE RENEW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Thank you for your attention."
In the fourty day period between that other website coming up for renewal, and ten days after, they sent me four emails. Which is fair enough, as it would certainly be a shock to a customer if their website suddenly ceased to exist. The issue is that when another dead, abandoned site of mine was set to expire, they sent me one single email with the misleading header "HostPapa - Credit Card Renewal Notification" wherein my auto-renewal was buried under the main issue, which is the particular credit card I originally paid with, three years prior, had expired. Here's that email in its entirety.
"We noticed that your HostPapa web hosting account has items due for renewal just 30 days from now. We also noticed that the credit card ******* we have on file for you at HostPapa has or will expire.
Your business is important to us. We want to make sure that your services are renewed properly without any interruption. A valid credit card is required to keep all your HostPapa services in good standing.
In order to ensure your services - and possibly your domain name - do not expire, we will send you an invoice and will attempt to charge your account 15 days prior to your renewal date Wednesday 17 September 2025.
Here's how to make changes in your billing profile from your HostPapa dashboard:
1) Log on to your HostPapa dashboard
2) Click on My Profile
3) Click on the Payment Methods tab
4) You are able to Edit, Remove, and Add a Credit Card in this section.
HostPapa features 1, 2, and 3-year hosting plans - Sign up for a longer term and save!
FREE DOMAIN CUSTOMER: If you do not renew your web hosting and domain name services before the expiration date, you risk losing your domain name. Please don't delay!"
I did not receive a single email that stated anything to the effect of "you are about to be charged $900 to auto-renew x website for three years, just ah eads up." Had that particular credit card not expired, I doubt I would have received any email from them, and I certainly did not receive an email after my expensive auto-renewal.
Does this sound like the kind of company you want to deal with?

UPDATE:
Thank you for providing the additional information, Timothy.
We have now been able to identify the relevant accounts. Our initial difficulty locating them was not an attempt to challenge or remove your review. Neither account is currently active: one was closed in 2024, while the other was cancelled in January 2025. The additional information requested through Trustpilot was necessary to ensure we investigated the correct accounts and responded based on accurate records.
Regarding the renewal charge, new customers receive an introductory promotional rate when signing up, allowing them to try our services at a reduced initial cost. Subsequent renewals are processed at the standard rates displayed during signup, within the HostPapa Dashboard under My Services, and on our website.
Our records show that no cancellation request had been submitted before the renewal invoice was generated. The service therefore renewed at the applicable standard rate. Once we received your cancellation and refund request, it was processed, and the charge was refunded in full.
The other hosting account was closed following a breach of our Terms of Service relating to content that promoted hatred, violence, or intolerance toward identifiable individuals or groups. The standard notice period set out in our terms was provided so that the hosted content could be migrated elsewhere. We take account closures seriously and do not make these decisions lightly, but we must apply our policies consistently to all customers.
Finally, regarding the content loss, based on our checks, an older backup was restored by the account holder, which is what resulted in the more recent content being removed, and unfortunately, once that restoration took place, the removed content could not be recovered through the backup system.
We understand that these events resulted in a frustrating experience. However, we also want to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the renewal, account closure, backup restoration, and our request for identifying information are represented accurately.
Have a great day ahead, Timothy!

My experience with Hostpapa helpdesk…
My experience with Hostpapa helpdesk has been awful. After more than 10 days with my website down after cancelling my hosting plan, their assistance rates a negative. I have more than 20 pages of messages back and forth. They contradicted themselves numerous times, said they could help, then said they couldn’t help, then said they could help again. What a waste of time and energy! Never never host your website here. On top of all that, they asked me sensitive security information so they could log in to another service on my behalf! Including my first pet, etc.! On gmail! Does anyone else see an issue with these overwhelmingly positive reviews - the law of averages ??? It's just.....not reality.
You could solve this right now by reinstating the hosting service and allowing the redirect to be managed at home, instead you argued back and forth for 10 days, over a roughly $20 fee.
You've challenged 30 of the 1-star reviews to ensure your ratings skew positive.

Thank you for your feedback, Rosalind!
We reviewed your recent interactions with our Support Team and would like to clarify what happened.
After your hosting plan was cancelled, domain registration was the only active service remaining on your account. Domain-only services do not include DNS management or redirects, so the redirect configured through cPanel stopped working once the hosting account was suspended. Our team therefore recommended managing the redirect through Cloudflare or your new hosting provider.
When the redirect did not work as expected, we offered further assistance. Before accessing or changing the account directly, we needed to verify your identity, which is a standard security requirement. After verification, two-factor authentication prevented us from proceeding, and you chose not to continue at that time. Our offer to help remains open.
Regarding your comments about our reviews, all reviews on our profile, whether positive or negative, are submitted by customers who have interacted with our services. We value all feedback and use it to identify where we can improve.
Should you wish to continue troubleshooting the redirect, please reply to Ticket #893465.
Have a great day ahead, Rosalind!

After a decade of using Hostpapa I can say their support is incredably good. The last person Jericho and the Jessica the person before that are very helpful and knowledgable. Highly recommend all the support staff at Host Papa.
Haithem was very helpful and patient with the set-up of 6 email addresses that I had been having trouble with for several days. I sincerely appreciated his patience and expertise. Thank you Haithem.
It doesn’t matter what time of the day or night if I need a question answered, a problem solved Hostpapa support is there within a matter of minutes with the answer. Support is friendly, easy to understand, and quick to respond back. I have dealt with many support companies and HostPapa is one of the best. I wish I had found them earlier.
