I like the concept and awareness it brings to your day to day life choices. Three things to improve, integrate with more vendors (like samsung health, Apple, strava, weight watchers, etc), have a better database for scanning for barcodes, many are unknown or portion size are hard to identify, lastly, provide recipes for the food your recommend.

I can’t figure out how to get into fat burn. I have made a lot of changes and still breathing 4’s. The app is just repetitive information. I wish I had not paid so much for lifetime use. The food suggestions don’t have recipes and are AI generated pictures. They are also hard to make and not easy to find and make food.

I have been using lumen for over 15months. The device tells me when i should stop fasting because my muscle is a risk. I enjoy finding recipes that work and learning when to eat carbs and when not to eat them. I have lost 95lbs and feel wonderful

Really interesting gadget for measuring fat and carb burn and can help not only with dieting, but with timing the right macros. Customer support is good, but there is a need to interact with a bot before getting a human. Just be patient and eventually your questions will be sorted. Product is sturdy and really helpful. Scammy. We cannot turn off our annual renewal on this product - which was never used. They’ve never sent annual renewal receipts or notifications AND are using a cancelled card and somehow still charging it. Don’t buy. Despite their reply - NO renewal notification was sent. Yes, spam was checked.

If you fast consistently you’ll find this lumen confusing - it is difficult to use so worry to do it right is high. I didn’t lose weight -wouldn’t recommend if fasting and it’s hard to cancel too -very hard-so be careful to watch the subscription end date

I saw this device advertised on Facebook and became curious to learn more. The device cost me $200 with a 12-week commitment. The device, cover, and charging pad come in a sleek black box with no instructions per se. You have to download an app. You are prompted to choose from five different dietary settings: “I eat everything,” pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan, or keto. There are no options for other dietary choices, such as intermittent fasting or carnivore. You are also instructed to identify foods to avoid, including poultry, beef, pork, eggs, fish, soy, seafood, dairy, gluten, and nuts. You must select up to two meals and specify whether you measure your food in portions or grams. In other words, the dietary component of this app is quite limited. They rely on your using another app, such as MyFitnessPal. The only dietary component that they really seem to monitor is carb consumption, and they measure this against their “recommended” diet. Twice a day, you are instructed to inhale and breathe in and out through the device. Once in the morning and once at night. You receive a unitless score between 1 and 5. One means you are burning more fat than carbs, and 5 means you are burning more carbs than fat. I consistently earned 2s in the morning and 3s at night. After 1.5 weeks of huffing and puffing, I received my first “flex” score of 14.0, again a unitless and scaleless number that I was told means “high flexibility.” I thought perhaps once you got a score, there would be some magical information that you might unlock that would be beneficial in promoting weight loss, but honestly, the emperor (lumen) has no clothes. I derived no benefit from my $200 “donation.” I suggest you save your money and buy lottery tickets, as you are more likely to derive more value from gambling than from throwing your money away on this silly device.

That said, the flex score is intended to measure your metabolic flexibility. Improved metabolic flexibility is indeed associated with better body composition and increased success with weight loss. It is one of several metrics that, together with your breath measurements and personalized nutrition plan, help you better understand how your metabolism responds to food, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle factors.
