Made a reservation on a Thursday. Logged on the next Monday, did not recognize my membership, let alone my reservation. Talked to support 3 separate time including supervisor callback the next Thursday. First support calls kept asking me to send info which I already had sent. I would not do this as there system was in ertor and I could not contact the host, nor could the verify my membership and or sent info. Staff was obviously schooled not to respond to complaints and ignored obvious glitches in system as well as refused to offer escalation of complaint process, only stating repeatedly that that they don’t gave any problems, there are no cancelations due to their lack of service performance. This is a hard nosed smarmy operation. They refuse to be accountable. My bet is the have never refunded anyone anything. Buyer Beware!
Their claims process destroyed my confidence in Outdoorsy
As an RV owner, I filed a damage claim on the same day the vehicle was returned and submitted time-stamped pre-trip and post-trip photographs through Outdoorsy’s process. More than a month later, Outdoorsy denied the awning damage as not having been reported within 48 hours—even though its own claims representative had already acknowledged in writing that a photograph of the awning was submitted directly after the booking.
Rather than address that contradiction, Outdoorsy repeated the same inaccurate timeline in its formal denial. The process required constant follow-up, explanations changed, and no timely physical inspection was arranged. Meanwhile, a revenue-producing RV remained sidelined during peak rental season, resulting in cancelled bookings and avoidable financial hardship.
This is not simply frustration over an unfavorable claim decision. It is about excessive delays, inconsistent explanations, and a refusal to meaningfully address evidence already in Outdoorsy’s possession.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Outdoorsy to RV owners or renters. I will be moving more of my business to RVshare and encouraging others to carefully compare the two platforms before trusting Outdoorsy to protect a valuable, revenue-producing asset.

Hi Jeffrey,
Thank you for sharing your review. As a valued host who has been with the Outdoorsy community for a long time, we truly appreciate your partnership and dedication to providing great experiences. We're sincerely sorry for your frustration here, as we know how disappointing claim outcomes can be.
Outdoorsy relies on standard reporting timelines and pre-trip documentation to ensure fair and consistent coverage across our entire marketplace. Our Claims team evaluated your submission based on communication timestamps and pre-existing condition records, which led to the final outcome for those specific items. Disappointing Outdoorsy Experience
My experience with Outdoorsy was extremely disappointing. While I expected Outdoorsy to provide a fair process for both renters and hosts, I did not feel supported when a damage claim was filed after my trip.
During our rental, we experienced several maintenance issues with the RV, including a Murphy bed that did not function properly the first time we lowered it. Based on the walkthrough at pickup and the condition of other items in the RV, we believed the bed issue was pre-existing. Despite explaining this, Outdoorsy allowed a portion of my security deposit to be charged before I was provided with sufficient evidence demonstrating that the damage occurred during my rental.
I was also disappointed that the burden appeared to fall on me to disprove the claim rather than requiring the host to clearly establish that the damage was new and directly caused during my rental. The documentation provided did not adequately explain the repair costs or justify the administrative fees that were charged against my deposit.
I understand that hosts deserve protection from legitimate damage, but renters deserve the same level of protection from unsupported or questionable claims. I expected a more thorough and impartial review before my security deposit was charged.
Until Outdoorsy improves its dispute process and ensures claims are supported by clear evidence before collecting funds from renters, I would be hesitant to use the platform again or recommend it to others.

Hi Donald!
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand how concerning it can be when there is a disagreement regarding a damage claim, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the current status of your case.
At your request, we initiated our formal Dispute Resolution process in accordance with Outdoorsy's Terms of Service. Your Resolution Specialist contacted you just two days ago to begin gathering information and reviewing the evidence submitted by both parties. As this investigation is still in its early stages, no final determination regarding financial responsibility has been made.
You mentioned feeling that renters are not adequately protected from questionable or unsupported damage claims. In fact, the Dispute Resolution process exists for that very purpose. It is designed to protect both guests and hosts by providing each party with an opportunity to present evidence, refute the other's position, and have the claim reviewed impartially before a final determination is reached. Your participation in this process ensures that your concerns and any supporting documentation you provide are fully considered as part of that review.
Our Dispute Resolution process is designed to evaluate the documentation, communications, photographs, and other evidence submitted by both the guest and the host before reaching a final decision. Because that review is still ongoing, we respectfully ask that you allow the process to conclude before drawing conclusions about its fairness or outcome.
We encourage you to continue working directly with your Resolution Specialist throughout the investigation. They will ensure that all relevant information is considered before a final determination is made. We appreciate your patience while this process runs its course and remain committed to providing a fair and thorough review for all parties involved.

My experience with Outdoorsy support has been extremely disappointing.
For more than a week, I was passed between five different support representatives, having to explain the exact same issue over and over again. Instead of investigating the problem, each person seemed to start from scratch without reading the previous messages.
The issue was simple: users in South Africa have been unable to access both the Outdoorsy website and app since 16 July. Despite repeatedly explaining that this was not an issue with my personal account or IP address, support continued insisting that it was only affecting me.
In the end, the only “solution” offered was for me to download and pay for a VPN. That is not a fix—it is merely a workaround that bypasses the problem. I even provided screenshots showing:
* No access without a VPN.
* No access while connected to a South African VPN server.
* Immediate access when connected to a UK VPN server.
This clearly demonstrates that the problem is location-related, yet the technical team never acknowledged it or properly investigated it.
After spending over a week going back and forth with five different support agents, the ticket was simply closed because I had found my own workaround—not because the issue had actually been resolved.
I expected much better technical support from a company of this size. Customers should not have to pay for a VPN just to access a service they are already paying for.

Hi Tokkie,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the back-and-forth experience. Troubleshooting international network and login issues requires specific security and technical checks, which led to multiple follow-up questions from our team.
Because Outdoorsy operates primarily in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, automated network security filters and anti-fraud protocols can restrict platform access from non-operational regions to protect user accounts from unauthorized activity.
We completely understand how frustrating that felt while trying to access your account abroad, and we want to assure you that your feedback has been shared with our product team.

My experience with Outdoorsy was very disappointing.
I booked an RV for a trip to Stanley, Idaho and prepaid a campground reservation. From the start, communication with the host was poor, requiring repeated follow-ups just to confirm basic pickup details.
On pickup day, the RV had a serious propane leak. Propane was actively venting from the tank, making it unsafe to use. The host canceled the reservation because repairs would take longer than my trip, and the trip ended before it began.
I was left with approximately:
• $400 in non-refundable campground fees
• Additional costs for groceries and ice purchased for the trip
• About three hours of travel time for pickup and return without the RV
• A canceled vacation that could not be recovered
I contacted Outdoorsy for help but was told there was nothing they could do and to work it out with the host. The host was largely unresponsive, and I received no resolution.
While mechanical issues can happen, I was left absorbing the full cost of a canceled trip caused by an unsafe vehicle. Outdoorsy did not provide meaningful support or compensation.
If you book through Outdoorsy, be aware that if a rental is canceled due to safety or mechanical issues, you are responsible for trip expenses like prepaid campgrounds, ice, travel time. If you had a problem on the road, you would really be screwed based on my experience.

Hi Jon,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We certainly understand how disappointing it is when a trip doesn't go as planned, especially when you've already made travel arrangements and were looking forward to your vacation.
Safety is always our top priority, which is why the host made the decision to cancel the booking rather than send you out in an RV with a confirmed propane issue. While we recognize how frustrating that was, we're glad the issue was identified before your trip began rather than while you were on the road.
After the cancellation, our Concierge team proactively reached out to help explore alternative rental options but did not receive a response. Our Customer Support team also connected with you, and at that time you let us know you had already made other arrangements and declined further assistance. We're pleased to see you were able to move forward with alternate plans and that you've chosen to give this host another opportunity for your trip next year. We also appreciate that our team was able to provide a goodwill gesture in recognition of the inconvenience, and we hope it reflected our commitment to supporting you despite the unfortunate circumstances.
We'd also like to clarify one point for future travelers, as well as for your reassurance. If a mechanical issue were to occur during an active trip, every Outdoorsy booking includes roadside assistance, and our dedicated Breakdown and Concierge teams work quickly with our roadside assistance partner to coordinate support, repairs, or alternative solutions whenever possible. While every situation is unique, guests are not left to navigate those situations on their own.
We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue improving both the booking and support experience for our community.

Hi Neil!
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand that having to cancel a trip is disappointing, especially when it affects your travel plans and finances. While we recognize your frustration, hosts on our platform independently select their cancellation policy, and refunds are processed according to the policy in place at the time of booking. Under a Moderate Cancellation Policy, the applicable portion of the rental amount is retained by the Host, as the host reserved those dates and may have lost the opportunity to accept another booking. Outdoorsy does not retain those funds. The only amounts retained by Outdoorsy are the applicable platform service fees and any other non-refundable charges disclosed during the booking process.
We strive to make cancellation policies transparent throughout the booking process so guests can review them before confirming a reservation. We appreciate you sharing your experience, as feedback like yours helps us continue evaluating how we communicate our policies to our community.

UPDATE (edit): Outdoorsy did refund the $50, which let me know some humans do work there. That said, their app needs a lot of work to be similar or equivalent to an Air B&B.
Updated score from 1 to 4 stars.
I am an Outdoorsy host. I moved and obviously my RV moved with me. So I had to cancel a November booking (I did this in July). They charged me $50. It’s my RV. I think it’s reasonable to cancel a reservation of MY RV 4 months in advance without being charged for it. This is my third highly frustrating interaction with this unprofessional organization.

Do not rent this van/RV from this person or this company. He backed out last minute and left us stranded.

Hi Bruce,
We're sincerely sorry you've had a less-than-perfect experience due to a canceled booking. That's certainly not the experience we want our guests to have. Although we do everything possible to prevent cancellations, they do occasionally happen, most often due to maintenance needs or damage from a previous rental. In this case, it appears that the host needed to perform some unexpected maintenance and repairs to ensure the rig was completely safe for the road.
We recognize that this is a pain point for our guests, so we have a dedicated team to assist with last-minute cancellations for bookings that start within a week. Additionally, we want to reassure you that we strongly discourage cancellations. When a host cancels, their rating can be negatively impacted, and financial penalties applied.
On a bright note, our Concierge team jumped into action and took care of everything for you right away! Not only were they able to secure a replacement vehicle immediately, but they also applied credits and a discount code, so the price difference was fully covered at no extra cost to you. I see you're currently on your trip, and we hope you're having a great time! If you have any questions or need assistance while on the road, please feel free to reach out to us anytime. Our Customer Support team is available 24/7 via live chat or by calling 877-723-7232.
Thanks again for your feedback, and Happy Travels!

Damages happened on 1st rental, cant get $350 paid 2 me
Update: 7/29/26: The claims adjuster denied my claim. That was 3 days ago, I still cannot add additional charges. I have the 3rd rental we had scheduled for pickup tomorrow. We might need to cancel that 1 as well.
I have been on the phone with customer service. The total charges for repairs is $350.01.
The renters deductible amount is HIGHER than this amount. They will need to pay this out of pocket anyways!
But I was told this needs to go through the insurance process which could take who knows how long.
There is a deposit on hold for $500 for damages. I NEED TO PAY FOR IT, PICKUP THE CAMPER, AND GET IT CLEANED IN TIME FOR THE NEXT RENTAL IN TWO DAYS!!!!!!
This was my very 1st rental, it was returned damaged, dirty, black tank full. This app is ridiculous the process you have to go through to get anything done.
I requested a manager more than 10 times on the phone, I was told, my manager will tell you the same thing, I was ignored most times I requested a manager until I started shouting to put manager on the line. I waited on hold, he comes back amd tells me no one is available. I highly doubt he even checked. I PLAN TO WRITE THIS IN A PUBLIC FACING REVIEW.

Hi Racheal,
Thanks for your feedback! We're so sorry for the frustration your damage claim has caused, especially when you weren't able to get connected with a manager right away.
Please allow me to clarify that when a damage claim is filed, the security deposit is automatically placed on hold and managed directly by our Claims team while they complete their evaluation. Because this process is managed by a dedicated claims adjuster, manual charges to the security deposit cannot be made outside of that review.
We always want to ensure you have the full support you need. Upon reviewing your account, I verified that you're currently in contact with your claims adjuster and our Customer Experience team. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach back out to them directly within your existing email thread.

I don't typically write reviews but I do want to warn others after the mess I went through. I rented a trailer and during the trip a leaf spring snapped, no other damage nothing hit. Roadside assistant was very helpful but the host took my deposit. If you look this up its a known mechanical issue/maintenace and now I am paying for the host maintenance. Outdoorsy has a dispute process but you do not get a receipt from the host and never see what the host told outdoorsy. I submitted all my info and was told
"The Guest who Booked the trip is financially responsible for all physical damage to or theft of a Booked Vehicle that occurs during the Booking, plus any additional costs and fees resulting from damage of any kind to the Vehicle, regardless of who is found to be at fault. This includes damage due to weather and other acts of God."
If I damaged anything I would gladly pay and make it right, even the insurance I bought through them excludes suspension as a wear and tear item.
UPDATE: Outdoorsy’s response appears inconsistent with its own statements to other renters. In another public response(google review), Outdoorsy states that mechanical failure is a maintenance issue and falls under the host’s responsibility. In my case, a leaf spring failed without an accident or impact, yet my deposit was taken, and Outdoorsy has not provided the evidence used to classify it as renter-caused damage rather than mechanical failure or maintenance.

Our experience had us on the side of the road with a flat and a broken axel. Luckily for us a trucker saw the flat tire and told us to pull over. Turned out we didn't just have a flat tire, we also had a broken axel. We were traveling with friends and they were of great help. The owner just told us to call Outdoorsy, but luckily our friends were able to help us. We got to our campsite on 3 tires (none of which matched). Once at the site a mechanic came out to look at it. He said the axel was bad when we left and that the trailer needed a whole new axel. It would take the week that we were there to get it fixed. As he was fixing it he told us that the other axel was also dry and had absolutely no grease. The topping on the cake was that the lighter for the stove was broken (there was a lighter in the drawer), no pot holders, no rags, no dishtowels, sponges, or dish soap to wash dishes. No hand towels or hand soap in the bathroom. We are driving almost 800 miles to camp with friends for a week, this is why we rent, I shouldn't have to bring my supplies with me that I will be needing to make my trip doable. I did ask for towels and linens for 4 people, I got 4 bath towels and sheets. The owner just kept telling us that Outdoorsy would take care of us, and they did, however, the owner didn't even offer any type of compensation for our inconvenience. If it weren't for our friends we would have sat on the side of the freeway for hours.

Hi Paula!
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're very sorry to hear that your trip was disrupted by tire and mechanical issues, as well concerns with the listing's amenities. Vacation time is precious, and dealing with vehicle trouble is certainly not the seamless experience we want for our guests. We're glad your friends were there to help out. Please know that Outdoorsy provides 24/7 Roadside Assistance for these exact situations, so our guests are never left stranded. That said, we completely understand your disappointment that the host didn't offer any compensation for the inconvenience.
While Outdoorsy is a peer-to-peer marketplace where hosts manage and operate their individual listings, we hold our community to high standards regarding vehicle condition, maintenance, and advertised amenities. Please rest assured that we have shared your feedback with our Marketplace Quality team so we can review the host's listing and ensure our high standards are consistently met. We always encourage hosts to make things right directly with their guests. However, when expectations aren't met or an agreement can't be reached, we have a formal resolution process in place to help evaluate claims for reimbursement or compensation.
One of our specialists will get in touch with you soon to address your concerns and guide you through the next steps. Once again, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience.

I contacted outdoorsy about a host on their platform that is a scammer, and is incredible unsafe. I was pressured multiple times to send my personal information, including my address, off app to a male host. I was also prompted to leave the outdoorsy website and book through the hosts personal website. I was then lied to by said male host about the safety of the vehicle. I reached out to the host the same day of my pick to let them know this vehicle wasn’t safe and they just said “ok”. No resolution offered. Outdoorsy not only continues to allow this person to host, they also allow them to continually contact me through their website, regardless of my repeated requests for them to block communication from me. If you want to book with a company that cares about the safety of their customer, THIS IS NOT THE ONE.

The RV owner cancelled less than 10 days before the trip with a lame excuse. If I, the renter did that it would have meant I would have lost 100% of my money. The owner of the RV had no repercussions. And I had to scramble to find a new RV to rent and wound up having to spend $2000 more.
When I told Outdoorsy about the cancellation, they were useless. They didn't help finding an RV, they simply asked how I would like my refund. I asked if the owner would be taken down from the site and the answer was something along the lines of, we'll pass this on to someone (i.e nothing will be done)
I would never use this website again and they have horrible policies for those that are renting.

Hi Lauren!
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry for the inconvenience and disruption this unexpected cancellation caused to your travel plans.
Unexpected cancellations can be incredibly disruptive, and we understand how frustrating this experience was. While we work hard to help prevent cancellations, there are occasions when they become unavoidable, such as when an RV requires repairs following damage from a previous trip. In this case, the reservation was canceled because the vehicle was no longer available due to necessary repairs.
We recognize the impact a last-minute cancellation can have on travel plans. For reservations beginning within a week, we have a dedicated team that assists guests with finding alternative options whenever possible. We also take host cancellations seriously. In accordance with our policies, cancellations may affect a host's standing on the platform and can result in applicable penalties.
We also understand your concerns regarding the support you received while searching for a replacement. We can confirm that, consistent with what our Customer Support representative previously advised, your feedback has been escalated to our Marketplace Quality team for review. They use this feedback to help monitor host performance and reinforce our marketplace standards.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Feedback like yours helps us continue improving both our marketplace and the support we provide to our guests.

⚠️ CONSUMER WARNING – MY EXPERIENCE WITH OUTDOORSY ⚠️
I rarely make posts like this, but after everything I went through, I feel compelled to share my experience in hopes that it helps someone else.
I paid approximately $660 to rent a trailer through Outdoorsy for what was supposed to be a family getaway. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived home with the trailer, things started going wrong.
I immediately documented an electrical issue with the owner through text messages. The battery itself was dated 2007, so when the battery completely failed we ended up.with no electrical at all. Meaning no A/C on the hottest weekend of the year and no lighting for my children at night.
We also discovered a pre-existing leak in the plumbing, which meant we had to shut the water system off completely. As a result, we couldn't use the sinks, the shower, or even flush the toilel for nearly the entire trip.
The only reason we extended the awning was to create some shade inside because of the heat. As soon as we did, the entire awning arm fell off the trailer. It was visibly apparent that it had been repaired previously.
Throughout the rental, I documented the condition of the trailer with photos, videos, and written communication. Despite all of that evidence, I was still required to pay the full rental fee for what I believe was a trailer that was largely unusable.
To make matters worse, I was then faced with a claim that I was responsible for what I believe was a pre-existing mechanical defect. Rather then have a professional assess the damages, outdoorsy forced me into binding arbitration with Fairclaims.
Another major concern I have is the insurance coverage for both renters and owners. People are paying a percentage out of pocket to rent their trailers through the platform under the impression that they are protected. Based on my experience, that sense of protection may not be as clear or reliable as it seems—especially when disputes arise and you are directed toward arbitration rather than a straightforward resolution.
The dispute process was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had as a consumer. I was bounced between Outdoorsy, FairClaims, and multiple email chains while trying to resolve the matter. Not to mention time and undue stress. Rather than feeling like anyone was interested in reviewing the evidence, I felt like I was being pushed through a process designed to wear me down.
I was repeatedly given the impression that binding arbitration was my only option and that I had no ability to pursue the matter elsewhere.
After spending countless hours researching Alberta consumer law, I came to the conclusion that FairClaims did not have jurisdiction over my dispute. I communicated that position to FairClaims and outdoorsy a number of times. After months of back and fourth and 20-30 emails it was realized that they did NOT have the jurisdiction to force arbitration.
That experience left me with one overwhelming thought:
How many other families have had their vacations interrupted or ruined, paid hundreds or thousands of dollars for rentals they believe were not fit for use, and then walked away believing they had no option but to accept the outcome or proceed through arbitration?
I don't know the answer. But after reading other public complaints, I have a hard time believing my experience is unique.

Hi Kerrie,
Thank you for sharing your feedback, and for allowing us the opportunity to provide additional clarification regarding this matter.
After a careful review of the information and evidence provided by both you and the host, the matter could not be resolved internally because both parties were seeking funds. As outlined in the Terms of Service accepted when you created your account and completed your booking, your dispute was referred to an independent third-party arbitrator for resolution.
Your payment was also independently reviewed through your financial institution, and the transaction was upheld. Although the Terms of Service provided you with the opportunity to have your dispute decided through an independent arbitration hearing, you declined to participate in that process after it was initiated.
Our goal is to ensure disputes are resolved through a fair and impartial process for everyone involved. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. While we understand that you remain disappointed with the outcome, we respect your perspective and remain committed to applying our policies and dispute resolution process fairly and consistently for all users.

Our experience was a nightmare to say the least, after a very long drive we arrive to 5 hours of problems with the RV hookups not functioning. Our host did work on resolving the issues but a big disappointing and frustrating ordeal the host cancels the trip (non functional RV) leaving us stranded with no where to go until a stranger stepped up and put us up in their home.
I did inquire about this very scenario at the time of reservation in case, we should be prepared to boondock (no hookups) but the host assured me after scouting the area that everything would be fine. It wasn't and there was no backup plan as the host responded with snarky remarks. Outdoorsy you gotta do better.
Strangers(awesome people) put us up in a luxurious guest room so it turned into a blessing in disguise.
Outdoorsy did give me a full refund and a sorry for your experience spiel. Outdoorsy is not a company I will put my trust in ever again.
Also you can't leave a review once the host cancels your reservation as I'm told by Outdoorsy so I will leave it here, the RV was named "HarVee" 2022 Keystone Outback Ultra Lite Toy Hauler from Durango CO
Outdoorsy did request a review on how they did right after.
Thanks for your Reply Outdoorsy I already received the same one

Thanks for your feedback, and we're sincerely sorry that your booking was canceled. I wanted to share the context of what happened for clarity. Upon review, it appears that the RV suffered a sudden, major mechanical failure on the way to deliver it to you. Our guests' safety is our absolute top priority, and because the vehicle was no longer safe to drive or occupy, the host had no choice but to cancel the booking immediately.
We sincerely apologize for the frustration this has caused. This is definitely not the experience we want our guests to have. Our team worked to find an alternative vehicle, but due to the short notice and limited availability, a comparable replacement could not be secured in time.
Additionally, we've verified that a full refund has been issued to your original form of payment, and have shared your feedback with the appropriate team for review as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining and continually improving vehicle maintenance and readiness standards across our community.

A host cancelled on us a week before our scheduled trip, he never reached out to me I had to reach out to him to check in on the status of everything, he informed me the camper had been in the shop for 2 weeks with an electrical issue. Why wasn’t I informed 2 weeks ago, maybe then I would have had time to make other arrangements for a holiday weekend. Instead he cancelled the trip on his end, I was not able to write a review to warn others about what had happened, the host doesn’t get any kind of reprimand and I lose a bunch of money from having to cancel a camping trip last minute. Beware of using outdoorsy for rentals there is no protection for guests.

Thank you for posting a review. We're deeply sorry for the negative experience due to a canceled booking. This is certainly not the seamless experience we want you to have when booking through our platform.
Although we do everything possible to prevent cancellations, they do occasionally happen, most often due to maintenance needs or damage from a previous rental. Upon review, it appears that the host had to cancel the reservation to address unexpected maintenance issues with the vehicle. For the safety of our community, we require all vehicles to be completely roadworthy before they head out on a trip, though we always expect our hosts to communicate these situations as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
We recognize that this is a pain point for our guests, so we have a dedicated team to assist with last-minute cancellations for bookings that start within a week. Additionally, we want to reassure you that we strongly discourage cancellations. When this occurs, the host’s rating is negatively impacted, and a financial penalty is imposed.
After checking your account, your full refund has been successfully verified and issued back to your original form of payment. To ensure you aren't left stranded, our team wants to make sure you are fully supported. If you're still looking for a replacement vehicle, please feel free to reach back out to our 24/7 Customer Support team within your existing email thread, and they'll be more than happy to assist you.

Absolute Nightmare! Unreliable Host, Corrupted System, and Disastrous Customer Support.
I had the absolute worst experience with this platform and host. My trip was booked and officially status-confirmed three months in advance (back on March 4). Yet, at the very last minute, the host attempted to force a downgraded substitution (a Jayco A-frame) that completely failed to meet my needs or fit the specific campground arrangements I had already locked in.
Despite the app still showing "BOOKING CONFIRMED," the host and the platform completely shirked their contractual responsibilities. To accommodate the original RV size, I had already spent extra money out of pocket to upgrade my campsite (Site #234 at Awenda Provincial Park). Because of their sudden breach of contract, all that preparation and money went down the drain.
What made it even more infuriating was Outdoorsy's customer support. Every single agent I spoke to did nothing but pass the buck, talk in circles, and offer zero actual solutions. Instead of step-in to source a comparable replacement from another host as a responsible platform should, they unilaterally converted my hard-earned money into "Travel Credit" to trap my funds. I had to waste even more hours on the phone demanding they reverse it back to my credit card.
Because of this total failure, I had to frantically source another RV on a different website at the absolute last minute, costing me an ADDITIONAL $400 out of pocket due to surge pricing.
This platform is highly unreliable, and their customer service is a joke. If you don't want your long-planned vacation ruined and your wallet drained by their incompetence, STAY AWAY!

Hi Leo,
We're incredibly sorry to hear that your trip plans fell through. We completely understand how frustrating it must have been to have your original RV become unavailable, especially when the alternative offered didn't fit the dimensions of your pre-booked campsite.
While our hosts do their best to accommodate guests when vehicle issues arise, we always want to ensure you get exactly what you need for a successful trip. Our support team immediately stepped in to provide alternative options, and we're deeply sorry that none of those choices worked for your trip. We sincerely apologize for the frustration this has caused. This is definitely not the experience we want our guests to have.
I've looked into your account and confirmed that a full refund was issued to your original form of payment. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach back out to our 24/7 Customer Support team via live chat or by calling 877-723-7232.
Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback with us.
