PDF Leader Review – Hidden Charges, Avoid at All Costs
I paid a one‑off fee of EU0.95 to convert a PDF. A few days later, without any permission or agreement, USD44.9% was taken from my account. This was never disclosed, never authorized, and is a clear example of misleading practice.
Customers need to be warned: what looks like a cheap, simple service can result in unauthorized deductions. I have reported this to my bank and strongly advise others to stay away from PDF Leader. Transparency and honesty are essential — this company has shown neither. Pure scam.
I kept having my phone interrupted by ads for this. It kept (almost) shouting at me I to update. 1st clue that it's a scam. I didn't have it in the first place to then update it. I've now uninstalled this on my phone via settings to apps, scrolled down my apps until I found the blighter and pressed uninstall option. Reading other reviews I'm relieved I did this before I was suckered in.

I paid a one‑off fee of £0.99 to convert a PDF. A few days later, without any permission or agreement, £34.75 was taken from my account. This was never disclosed, never authorized, and is a clear example of misleading practice.

Not great for efficient client support! Only email available. The online email connection sais: unsuccessful. Using the other email option then sends me a verification code that does not work. I also have experienced requests for payment when using the app, even though I bought it outright. The performance is ok—when it actually works, but it is not smooth sailing. too many bugs. Right now it's not opening any PDF's and I am going through an email drama to hopefully fix it. Tempted to buy the very expensive Adobe instead.
Subscription renewed via Apple; my email account erased from pdfreaderpro
When I changed laptops, I did not immediately include this app, which I used for some time. Later, a subscription was charged for 6 months, which I noticed. I tried to sign in and my email was not recognized. I could not manage the subscription from Apple page, the link was deactivated but still charged. I wrote an email to support of pdfreaderpro and they acted like they never saw me before, the email signature was from another country (the populous one). How did this happen? Spent a lot of time on Apple support to finally get a refund. Not happy
Consumer Beware! Unlike Amazon (for example) which makes it very easy to cancel subscriptions, this company has a logo that is strikingly similar to Adobe (wonder why, LOL!) and makes it very hard to find where to cancel your subscription. I had to write to them and take a screenshot of what I wrote, cancelling my subscription before the end of the free trial period. For good measure, I'll call my bank today. These practices seem deceptive to me but at a minimum they are confusing. Even if this were a good product for a better price, stay away until they become more transparent with consumers.
What a rip off. The so called lifetime license requires a paid subscription to use. I wanted to convert a pdf picture to a jpeg and found I need to pay a subscription to do so.
You can open a pdf but so far not much more
Have had PDF Reader Pro for 3 years. Worked perfectly until the last update. Some files will not print, or save, or allow text selection. Really buggy! Have tried different things like clearing cache, temporary files, converting OCR, reloading app...... Customer service is terrible. Finally got a reply and they want a video! I only gave it a 2 because of previous functionality.
I use this every day by default. Although I don’t subscribe to unlock additional features, I can only imagine the possibilities and advantages they offer. When my small business grows enough to require them, I’m confident it will remain intuitive and continue to simplify my work life.
I needed to convert a pdf so paid the 0.99p on 2nd February and just been charged £29.99 and emailed to explain I didn’t sign up for subscription. It states if you have technical issues which I did as it didn’t work convert all the text into word. I’ve explained the situation and automated Tom from customer service just responds with a template email saying sorry we can’t give you a refund as per our terms and conditions. Don’t use this company irs a complete scam.
Way too many clicks to highlight a piece of text, can't remove highlight, no undo button. First review ever dedicated to this - returning to free Adobe
Software does not work. Slow and glitchy. Customer service non responsive when I looked for a refund within the first 14 days. Cannot cancel the subscription when tried either. The website does not allow. Blocked the company from taking another subscription from my card in 12 months time. Total scam artists!
I subscribed to PDF Reader Pro AI a few days ago, and after paying for the subscription, I discovered I couldn’t access any of the AI functions without entering a licence code — which was never sent to me.
Their customer service (CS) is an absolute nightmare. It took them nearly 48 hours to respond to my initial emails, and when they finally did, they clearly hadn’t even read my question properly. The responses were useless and failed to address the issue. I had to follow up multiple times, sending detailed explanations and screenshots, only to be told repeatedly that “no licence code is required” and I just needed to log in — which I had already done. The problem persisted, and instead of resolving it, they banned me from contacting support altogether!
What a disgraceful company. Poor product, misleading subscription model, and shockingly bad customer care. Avoid at all costs!
Cancelled Trial After One Day and was Still Charged!
I cancelled my trial period after just one day and received a message that I had to cancel through PayPal?! Went through PayPal, my bank to stop the payment before it would go through, and was still charged. Now I'm waiting to get my money back, which will take weeks... Any legit company would have accepted my cancellation and said: Sorry to see you go... This is a scam and many people will give up instead of jumping through all the hoops and headaches this company creates to make an illegitimate buck. If I could give it less than one star, I would. Shame on pdfreaderpro!
