Not Ideal for Retirement Investment Tracking

I use Quicken Mac almost exclusively to track investments. Because of the way it handles certain transactions from Fidelity, Vanguard, etc. I have to manually change them to be accurate. This is a pain, but worse, it will show artificial increases or decreases in portfolio value because of the incorrect entries. Therefore, it’s very difficult to get an accurate measure of ROR over a specific period of time. A lot of retired people (like myself) use the bucket strategy. This entails having different investments in 3 different buckets, short-term , mid-term, long term. There is no way to assign investments to a tag or something to easily track how much is in each bucket. The product needs to look at things in a way that investors view them to make the product better.

I love having all accounts in one place. Being able to download in one step is great. I enjoy tracking my portfolio holdings as well. Reason I only gave it 3 stars is that I keep running into glitches where I have deleted a memorized transaction and it keeps returning. I have tried to enter it and then delete later, I have tried to skip it and it continues to return. I finally just moved them to start in a decade from now so they don't keep showing up on my calendar to pay or whatever they are. I have submitted multiple help tickets and no response and no correction. I have given up on support.

IRR reports detailed report is nice but i would like to request for a one page summary. A report providing a daily movement of networth quantifying how much is due to currency fluctuation and how much is due to the actual counter gain or loss. These days the currency flucation could be very voilatiles.

I've been using Quicken since 2010 and I almost left.

I've been using Quicken since 2010. I've never been this close to leaving Quicken as I was this time. This year, Quicken has gotten slower, more cumbersome, less accurate and more expensive. If Monarch would produce a viable way of transferring all my Quicken transactions, I'm gone.

Price is excessive for value

I've been using Quicken since the early 90s. My needs are fairly simple - banking, mortgage, mutual funds, and an occasional simple report. I still use the Windows desktop version. Mortgage (and other loan) accounts have never worked for me. They simply don't calculate the way the actual mortgage does. Occasionally in the past, I have had problems downloading from financial institutions. This is a CORE CRITICAL NEED for me. It has taken FAR, FAR too long (weeks and months) to get these issues resolved. I have had red flags to the left of my mutual fund account names for years. When I highlight them they say: "You have task to perform for this account." and "You have x transaction to review." It takes me to the account and then I can find nothing to review. I've learned to just ignore these red flags. Quicken forced us to switch to an annual lease a few years ago. The annual amount is far too expensive for my simple needs. I've looked at other personal finance software/apps but have yet to find one that will do what I want. If/when I ever do find a satisfactory alternative, you can bet that this 30+ year customer will be leaving Quicken.

Fantastic App terrible subscription cost

As always the Quicken application is a fantastic application platform and easy to use and I have been using it for 15+ years. However, the cost of the subscription only model is quickly approaching a level which will most likely make me re-evaluate my continued use of the application.

I’ve used Quicken for decades for my personal finances, and have been extremely happy with it. But my only download use is for their app updates. I do not download from any other financial sites. I am not happy with the escalating pricing for options that I do not use.

user experience

Generally, I have used and like Quicken for managing bank and credit card accounts for years. Issues I see: Reports have ALWAYS been not easy to use to get what I want, and formatting to print out in the way that is useful to me is just terrible. updates never seem to update simple things like this! 2nd: recently, downloads from a banks/credit unions that has changed their Quicken process ..what a mess: I'm asked to close quicken because it can't install components when open, but makes no difference! I had to figure out how to make needed adjustments. Unnecessarily time consuming and difficult.

I enjoy using Quicken for spending and investment tracking. However, I have noticed that on the investment aspect, after download, it still shows investments i still don't own. The interface between Quicken and my investment platform is not perfect apparently.
