Wonderful experience.
This software is easy to use. It checks and rechecks your input but still reminds you to check for yourself. Making the payment was affordable and simple.
Lack of clarity regarding a 1099-R correction. I kept going in circles until I figured out the correct "Delete" button to press. Added an additional 20 mins to the time spent filing, as well as unnecessary confusion and frustration.
Thanks for sharing this, Arlyn. Navigating a 1099-R correction can already feel tedious, and running into unclear options along the way only adds to that frustration. We hear you, and feedback like this genuinely helps us identify where the experience could be smoother. We appreciate you sticking with it and getting it sorted out.
You walked me through the process. You prompted me too many times to upgrade for a simple 1040EZ and you offered items that do not apply to me.
very good program easy to navigate was very thorough and provided support when i needed it. price was reasonable as well
My experience was great. The website simple and easy-to-use. Thanks text act.
its ok. payment kinda high
The smartfile AI box reopened every time I continued despite me closing it constantly. Obnoxious pop-up. Also, I got bamboozled into filing a "deluxe" return again, and paid $130 in total for this 'free' service. You need to alert someone when they are opting into suggested tax areas that would require them to pay $75!!!!! AND you need to give the option to undo those optional areas if someone wants to go back to the free version!!
We hear you, and we understand how frustrating it can be to feel like you ended up paying more than expected. Pricing and upgrade prompts can sometimes feel unclear in the moment, and we genuinely appreciate you sharing this feedback. The concerns you've raised about transparency around paid features and the ability to reverse selections are valuable and worth noting. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
Easy to use. Its a bit pricey. one State tax return should be included in the price.
The beta version was much easier than previous verions.
Thank you, Thet! We're so glad to hear the experience felt easy and intuitive. That's exactly what we aim for, and it means a lot to know we're hitting the mark! 😊
I assumed that this was e-filed almost a week ago! And having your AI help assistant pop-up every time was a pain!
We're sorry to hear your filing experience didn't go as expected, K. It sounds like there may have been some confusion around whether your return was successfully submitted, which can definitely be stressful. If you're still unsure, you can check your status at https://www.taxact.com/post-filing/efile-refund-status or check for an email from us. If you experience any other issues, please contact our Support team so we can walk through them with you in real time. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us this feedback.
No ability to see actual return as it's being prepared. I feel that I can't trust it.
Thanks for sharing this, Chris. Being able to see your return as it comes together is a reasonable thing to want, and we understand why that visibility matters when it comes to trusting the process. Within TaxAct, you can typically review a summary of your return at any point, and a full preview is available before you file. We appreciate the feedback and will pass it along as we continue working to improve the experience.
I have been using Tax act since around 2002. I love the ease in which the platform is, and how inexpensive that the filing is even if you are someone who has deductions. The only thing i would change about the setup of Tax Act is that i would eliminate all the up selling that happens at the end of the filing. It is unnecessary for most consumers to say "no thanks" so many times to the upgraded service. However that is the name of the game to make money as a company. I just think it is a bit annoying.
Krista, over 20 years of trust means the world to us — thank you so much for your loyalty and for continuing to choose TaxAct season after season! 🎉 We really appreciate your honest feedback about the upsell prompts at checkout, and we hear you — having to decline multiple times can definitely feel like a lot. We'll make sure this gets passed along to our team as we're always looking for ways to make the experience smoother and more respectful of your time.
The website was easy to use. The step-by-step instructions were fantastic!
Thank you, Timothy! We're so glad the website felt easy to navigate and that the step-by-step guidance made the process smooth for you. That's exactly the experience we aim to deliver! 🎉
It was very stressful and hard to find information.
We're sorry to hear the experience felt stressful, Kathy. Tax filing can already feel overwhelming, and we understand how frustrating it is when information feels hard to find. We appreciate you sharing this feedback, as it helps us work toward making the process clearer and more straightforward for everyone.
