Easy to follow questions and help when needed for uncommon forms

I like TaxAct for ease and reliability and have used them for years. That said, you could do better at clearly explaining what it is they are asking for in a Schedule C. It can be a bit confusing, especially as laws and requirements change. So there you lose a star, and for forcing this review, you lose a star. Once the taxes were submitted, this popped up without an option to exit without submitting a review. There is no way to get back to finish it up and log out without doing this review...really not a good choice, TaxAct...a forced popup review.

Even after using TaxAct to e-file for many years, I still find their filing instructions almost as opaque as the tax code itself. The surprise this year was the extra $60 processing fee they added on the final order summary page because we had opted to pay for the standard TaxAct service out of our refund. Infuriatingly, we had to return back to the beginning of that section and redo it in order to select the option to pay by credit card and avoid the processing fee. Why so tricky, TaxAct?

It was free and super easy. The process was simple and just by answering questions it filled out the entire tax form from my answers. It was just as good as the expensive tax software in my opinion.

They charged me$60 even though I was using the free edition and it said for free. Very bad I do not like being lied to and charged for something when the whole reason I used them was because they were free smh

turbotax tried to charge me $170 for this service. TaxAct charged under $40. Thank you for the great service and reasonable cost.

I hate that I had to back and put in all the information 4 times cause it kept deleting all the info when I would log out and log back in.

The ai chat robot was super helpful explaining and answering any questions I had as well as the website being super easy to navigate and walk through. Hopefully everything goes well because this was my first year filing taxes but if it does, I will definitely use this website again.

On the one hand, I resented having to pay to e-file my taxes from overseas. On the other hand, TaxAct made it easy to receive a complete refund on my state taxes, so in the end, I make out financially.

You advertise as FREE but I ended up paying $132.48 to file my taxes. The system will not allow you to proceed until you "agree" to pay. That is a scam.

Laura was not very helpful online, in fact she was very snarky. There was was nothing that indicated I would be charged $35 for a rude representative that ended up having to call me because she was so horrible online.

When a "Congratulations" message comes up, it gives the idea that the procedure is complete. I did not continue to "e-file" and now I am 2 months late sending in my taxes when they should have been files on April 15th.
