Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. People frequently experienced frustrating network outages, unstable mobile data connections, and unexpected roaming charges that quickly added up to hefty bills without clear explanations. Consumers also struggled to get prompt, helpful assistance when contacting support agents via online chat or phone lines to resolve urgent connection and billing problems. Some people were satisfied with individual store staff members who provided friendly, polite assistance and professional guidance during in-person visits. Reviewers appreciated when employees showed genuine patience, listened carefully to concerns, and went out of their way to explain complex contract details or resolve ongoing inquiries smoothly.

Disrespectful treatment

I was treated very poorly by the receptionist. Even though I arrived on time for my appointment, the receptionist let a late client go ahead of me. Her explanation was that she "didn't want to argue with the client," so she chose to argue with me instead. Very bad customer service, lack of respect, and bad time management. I won't come back after this

Feedback on Service Quality and Staff Training – NEX and Bugis Junction Outlets.

I am writing to share a highly disappointing experience regarding the service attitude and lack of support provided by your retail staff especially at NEX, as well as Bugis Junction outlets. Incident 1: NEX Outlet (Dismissive Attitude and Service Refusal)Date & Time: Friday, 18 September 2026, around 6:00 PMI visited the NEX branch seeking assistance because my phone does not support eSIM functionality, and I needed help getting my paid Maxx plan to work. The moment I mentioned "Maxx," the staff member immediately shut down the conversation, stating, "Sorry, we don't do Maxx, we don't have Maxx cards here."When I explained that I had already paid for the plan and asked what my options were, his response was completely unhelpful and unprofessional: "I don't know, go back to where you bought it." Leaving a paying customer entirely helpless with zero guidance on where to seek official support does not reflect acceptable service standards. At the very least, the staff should tell me where to go to seek a solution instead of turning me away empty-handed. Incident 2: Bugis Junction Outlet (Mixed Service and Unfriendly Reception)Date & Time: Saturday, 19 September 2026, around 12:00 PM After navigating the issue myself, I traveled to the Bugis Junction branch. I want to commend the staff member in white stationed at the door, he was highly professional, helpful, and properly directed me to Counter 12. However, the experience fell short at the counter. The staff member dressed in black displayed an incredibly cold and unfriendly attitude. When I greeted him with a warm hello, he completely ignored me and continued preparing his counter without making eye contact or acknowledging my presence. A basic level of courtesy such as saying, "Hi, please give me a moment" should be fundamental protocol for front-facing service staff. Request for Review:While I am glad the SIM issue is finally sorted, the stark contrast in staff training and the dismissive treatment at NEX need to be addressed. I hope M1 management looks into training frontline staff to at least provide correct cross-brand directional advice, rather than turning customers away empty-handed

I’ve been M1 customer for more than…

I’ve been M1 customer for more than 10yrs. As years went by, I’m getting more and more disappointed with their network. Accessing to this platform to write this review while on my way back by train also took me abt 2-3mins to load the page. The network is just so bad especially in train. Think so I’ll have to look for other telco after my contact end

M1 cut off line and left me stranded in cambodia

I am writing to highlight a deeply troubling and inhuman experience I recently faced with M1—an experience that left me stranded overseas, cut off from all communication, and forced to abandon a business trip. As a loyal customer of more than 20 years, I never imagined that a major Singapore‑listed company could fail so completely in its duty of care. Before my trip to Cambodia, I had already contacted M1 to activate overseas usage with roaming, and it was confirmed. I had every reason to believe my line was ready for travel. However, due to login issues with M1’s system, I was unable to access my account for nearly two months. This meant I could not make payment even though I tried. At no point did M1 notify me that my service would be cut. No SMS, no email, no call, no warning. Then, while I was in Cambodia, M1 abruptly terminated my mobile service. The consequences were immediate and severe: I was unable to call for ride‑hailing services to return to my hotel. I was unable to book transport to the airport. I was unable to contact anyone for help. All my business communications were cut off. A trip planned for work became a wasted, costly, and unsafe ordeal. For a Singaporean travelling alone, being suddenly disconnected in a foreign country is not a small inconvenience—it is dangerous. It is frightening. And it is unacceptable. This incident raises a larger question that affects all Singapore consumers: Have major brands become so automated and profit‑driven that they have forgotten basic humanity? I believe this is no longer just a personal complaint. It is a matter of public interest. I propose that all major listed companies—including telcos—be required to undergo consumer experience audits that publicly document: Severe service failures Cases where customers were placed at risk Incidents caused by system errors or inaccessible platforms Patterns of inhuman or negligent behaviour The company’s actual response and remediation Consumers deserve transparency. And when companies repeatedly act inhumanely, consumers should have the right—and the information—to boycott them. My experience with M1 is a real example of how a corporate decision, combined with system failures, can leave a Singaporean stranded overseas with no lifeline.

Their Worldwide Daily Passport is a…

Their Worldwide Daily Passport is a joke and a scam. I did not activate it, but when I am out of Singapore, it is auto-charging me for no reason. This is the second time they have charged me for no reason and said it cannot be removed. Whatever method customer service advised me to use, I have tried, but nothing has changed. I'll just look for another service to replace this shitty service.

Transferring eSIM to new device

I am using M1 Maxx 1. The online FAQ steps / video were wrong and outdated which is quite ridiculous because it left me without a working number for more than 12 hours because I can only contact support between 9am-6pm. I couldn't do anything that required OTP verification. 2. I had to wait in line in the online chat for more than 30 mins, only to wait for another 20 mins to be transferred to a Maxx agent. 3. The agent ended the chat even before verifying that I successfully received the QR code for the new eSIM.

Broadband subscription complexity

Trying to subscribe to Broadband on their website is a nightmare. I tried over 8 times before having to contact support for help. Each time I booked broadband, it either hung, or it asked for email ID (since I was a customer over 4 years ago - I would have thought that data would have been deleted). Trying to unselect and select items was confusing. After finally getting support to help with it, I submitted, only to find out that the free SIM Surfvalue card was not selected. I contacted support again to see how it could be added but of course it cant be added anymore (even though the service hasnt started and is weeks away). I now remember why I cancelled them years ago because of their lack of flexibility. Making a calendar entry to cancel them after the contract is out.

Title

Title: Predatory Billing Disguised as "Convenience" – M1 Traps Customers with Confusing Subscriptions I am writing this review because I am beyond frustrated with M1's misleading billing practices. This is not a mistake—this is a system designed to confuse customers and quietly charge us for things we never knowingly signed up for. Here is exactly what happened to me: 1. I subscribed to a Daily Passport for roaming, thinking the **$4.95 "Monthly Subscription Fee"** would cover my daily roaming charges. Logically, that is what "subscription" means, right? **Wrong.** M1 charged me the $4.95 AND an additional $0.99 per day for each day I used data. No clear warning. No plain-English explanation. Just silent double-charging. 2. I also had a $35 China Data Passport added to my bill. I was never clearly told this was a recurring monthly subscription that would auto-renew. It looked like a one-time add-on. By the time I realised, I was already charged—and I couldn't even cancel it easily through the app. 3. When I tried to understand my bill, M1's customer service was useless. Their AI chatbot (A1) gave generic, meaningless replies. There was no human empathy, no clear breakdown, just robotic deflection. It felt like they were trained to confuse, not help. 4. And the worst part? They blame the customer. Their attitude is: "You should have read the fine print." But let's be honest—the fine print is buried, the terms are vague, and the system is deliberately designed to lead you into subscriptions you don't fully understand. This is not transparency. This is a trap. 5. Every single time I try to get help, I am redirected to their useless AI chatbot. No matter what I ask, it funnels me back to the same generic, scripted answers. There is NO way to reach a real human through their digital channels. They have built a wall of bots to block customers from getting help. And when the bot fails, they blame me for being overcharged. Imagine that—I get charged unfairly, and then I get blamed for it.

Cannot be trusted

On 6 July 2026, I contacted M1 to ask whether I could pay my outstanding bill in two instalments—half on 6 July and the remaining half on 25 July 2026. The customer service representative who assisted me checked with her backend team before confirming that this arrangement could be made as a one-time exception. However, on 20 July 2026, my mobile line was suspended, five days before the agreed payment date of 25 July 2026. I called M1 again and happened to speak to the same customer service representative. After checking the records, she acknowledged that I had indeed been informed that I could make the second payment on 25 July 2026. She then mentioned that she had also advised me that my line might be disrupted. I had to point out that a disrupted service and a suspended line are not the same. My line was completely suspended before the agreed payment date, making it impossible for me to use my mobile service. After further discussion, she escalated the matter to the backend team again. I was then informed that I would need to make a payment of at least $100 within 24 hours to have my line remain active. When I asked why this condition was being imposed when it was never part of our original agreement, I was told it was due to overlapping billing cycles. I find this explanation unacceptable. If there were additional conditions or limitations, they should have been clearly communicated to me during my call on 6 July. Instead, I relied on the payment arrangement that M1 confirmed, only to have my line suspended before the agreed payment date. This experience has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Mobile services are essential, and customers rely on them to remain contactable. It is unfair to make promises that are later changed without proper notice, especially when customers have acted based on the information provided by your staff. I have been an M1 customer since my teenage years, but this experience has seriously affected my confidence in your service. Unfortunately, I am now considering switching to another provider, as I no longer feel that M1 values or treats its long-term customers fairly.

My experience with M1 was at NEX.

My experience with M1 was at NEX. 10th July 2026: Dexter, your staff member, greatly helped me to get from the Pre-paid system into the Post-paid one. The line was down but he was very cordial and patient and went out of his way to help me. He managed to do it, explaining to me in detail what to do and expect. He gave me the SIM card to slot into my mobile when it's ready to do so. He advised me to come back when the line comes on again. 12th July 2026: I went back to M1, NEX and met Clavius, another great staff member. He listened patiently to my plight and helped me slot the SIM card into my mobile and activated the service. He explained how payment for each month could be done. I truly appreciate Dexter and Clavius for their help and time. You have two wonderful staff members. Thank you, Dexter & Clavius!!! Chai Ai Choo Pearly

I have reviewed less than 5 things online.. this is the only negative one.

I have reviewed less than 5 things online in my entire life and this will be the only negative one. M1 is as good as scamming me in my opinion, as I always use e-sim for mobile data when I travel. I have never turned on data roaming using the m1 card while overseas or in Singapore. The daily passport from m1 always detects <200 bytes of usage, and starts charging me the daily passport rate. Worse still, it’s not possible to deactivate the daily passport from their m1 app when this happens. When you give them a call, they will give all sorts of reasons why you are charged, none of them involving you actually using their data roaming overseas. They have also refused to waive the fees, and being unable to even turn their data passport services off overseas, you are left with a hefty bill when you arrive back home to Singapore. This happens EVERY SINGLE TRIP. I have paid hundreds for no reason in total, applicable whenever you travel. It doesn’t matter whether your m1 SIM card is turned off or not. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if they charged me for their data passport even after I change telco. This is utterly ridiculous and I will be seeking legal avenues to dispute the charges.

Bad service thru out for mobile- it’s a shame that you are mobile one! Cannot use in JE mall. Frequent outage that can last hours. Basic plans seemed cheap but if you happen to tap on the other non covered roaming destinations like Kenya (2024); just a minute cost you $30 K - no joke, real life experience! & they made sure you cough that $! Mr user didn’t even know how he clocked that.

BEWARE OF M1 WORLDWIDE DAILY PASSPORT-IT'S A TRAP!!

I’ve been an M1 customer on the Bespoke SIM-only plan together with my family and I’m extremely unhappy that the “Worldwide Daily Passport” roaming feature is enabled by default and cannot even be deactivated. Why should customers be automatically opted into a chargeable roaming feature they may not want in the first place? Many users — especially elderly users or those unfamiliar with roaming settings — can easily overlook this while travelling overseas. Even worse, I discovered that despite switching OFF both Mobile Data and Data Roaming on the M1 line, the phone may still occasionally latch onto the M1 roaming network when the current network signal is weak without us knowing in real time until much later, when a notification and charges are incurred. I’ve been charged multiple times on random occasions even though I’m on a dedicated overseas eSim mobile plan. This is simple ridiculous! It creates anxiety for customers who are trying to avoid accidental roaming charges. If the service only activates upon roaming data usage, why not simply make it an optional feature that customers can choose to enable themselves? Why force it onto every customer by default with no option to permanently opt out? This practice feels more like a revenue-generating trap than a customer-centric service. Consumers should have full control over whether they want roaming products activated on their lines. Very disappointing experience from a telco that should prioritise transparency and customer choice.

Scam company

Scam company. I tried to extend the validity of my prepaid number. The amount was deducted from the main balance but the transaction "failed" and the number could not be extended. The only way to resolve it is to call the hotline as their online chat could not help. (Even after transferring me once) But the cost of calling or waiting for the call would be more than the cost of the failed transaction. Horrible practices.
