Deliveries were consistently delayed or missed entirely, leaving many homes without proper gas supplies when they needed heating the most. AmeriGas almost destroyed my home!!!

AmeriGas is the worst experience I've had with any company in my life! I was setup for auto refill for years, then last winter they just didn't refill my tank while I was out of the country for work. My furnace eventually stopped working due to low propane. My plumbing would have froze but thankfully my neighbor was able to use electric heaters to save my house. When I returned home from work, AmeriGas wanted me to pay all kinds of service fees, an expediting fee, as well as an inspection fee because of their negligence. I decided to change companies after this horrible service and they pilled on a bunch of service & pickup fees to my account anyway. When I called back and spoke to customer service, I was told my account showed a $0 balance. I explained the invoice they just mailed to me said different. The representative then told me the fees would be reversed and my account still showed a $0 balance. This was after holding for over an hour and being transferred. I was later notified my account was going to collections, spent another hour on the phone, only to be told my account still showed a $0 balance. I explained I received a collections notice and was then transferred to senior management where this got even worse. The manager I spoke to said there was still a balance due and did not even believe I was told I had a $0 balance before transfer. These clowns not only almost ruined my home, but also almost put a hit on my credit due to incompetence and poor business practice. Save yourself the headache and this business from further embarrassment and go anywhere else.

AmeriGas was Terrible

AmeriGas is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I never even signed up with this terrible company, they bought out our local service. They overcharged me by hundreds of dollars per tank fill. When we called them on it they said “Pre-Pay and you’ll get a discounted price”. Which turned out to be more than honest services we’re charging. When we ordered again they said that Pre-Pay was only a one time deal and I was back to the exorbitant rate. They still had some of my Pre-Pay money but refused to return it. I told them not to fill my tank again because we were going to use someone else, they then filled our 1000 gallon tank to the max, then charged me a ridiculous price. When I got a new tank (I bought my own) they wanted to charge me several hundred dollars to come pick up their tank and it sat for weeks. I finally told them, “come and get it or I will consider it abandoned and I was going to sell it for scrap metal. They came and got it.

Delivery Promises a complete FAILURE

Ordered propane delivery on 24 July 26. It was expedited due to being out of propane. My bottles do not have a gauge so we didn't know we were low. Lady I talked to said delivery between 24 July and 27 July 26. On 27 July I called for a status. Lady we talked to now said delivery now delayed until 28 July. Here it is 28 July 26, no delivery yet at 2:00 p.m. I called for a status. My order was "cancelled" for some reason. I can't be told who or why it was cancelled. Been on hold now for 43 minutes trying to figure out what the heck happened! I had hoped the 1-star was a one-off, but not at all. While the ladies I have talked to are pleasant, something is wrong with this company. Update: I cancelled my delivery order of propane. We did it ourselves and saved headache and having to deal with these folks again.

DO NOT USE Amerigas find anyone else

DO NOT USE Amerigas find anyone else. We have 2 tanks here 1 with Amerigas (14 years) and Co-op 1 year. This year we noticed that co -op was 1/2 the price so we contacted Amerigas to see what they could do. They never got back to us and picked up the tank. 80% full of propane that we paid for. at 4.99 a gallon. Now they are telling me that we do not get credit for the tank being full and they are going to charge the next person for the propane that we already paid for. NO ONE ever told us that what they pick up they keep. In fact the customer service person we just spoke with said that it was in the works and her supervisor said the account was closed and we were not getting a refund for the propane. We just filled the tank why would any person give propane back to a company that they paid for? DO NOT USE Amerigas find anyone else.

DO NOT PURCHASE from AmeriGas

DO NOT PURCHASE from AmeriGas. The price per gallon is much higher than others. Trying to contact them is ridiculous, as they work through a call center. I just cancelled my service. They charge $128/yr rental on the tank and now they are charging me $450 to remove their tank. They said they will come in the next 45 days to remove it. I am switching to Xxxx, gas is more than $1.50/gallon cheaper and no rental fees.

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would. This company is an absolute joke, as evidenced by the NUMEROUS bad reviews. Finally cancelled my service with them as we are fed up with the headache it is trying to get our tank filled, and the fact we go long stretches without propane because they for some reason can’t come fill it. Now after we get hit with a $500 bill just for them to come collect the tank. What a joke. Stay far far far away from this company.

AmeriGas is a TERRIBLE propane…

AmeriGas is a TERRIBLE propane supplier. When I closed my account with them I was charged a ridiculous pickup fee of $299- for their own tank that I paid to lease. I was also charged an unsubstantiated "service fee" of over $100-. I had their tank already unhooked and set beside the road, but still was forced by threat of collection to pay the service fee and inflated pickup charge. Do your future self a HUGE favor and use any other propane supplier besides AmeriGas.

This is a horrible company to work…

This is a horrible company to work with. The customer service is atrocious and they put you on hold for hours. Our original site survey was done and the guy who came out told us our new construction home was not to code and he couldn’t install the tank. Then he insulted our lifestyle. It took 3 months of multiple calls to finally get someone to remove excess charges. We are still are waiting to hear about the remaining charges and a supervisor to speak to us.

I would give them a lower score if I could and it is obvious by their score they have no concern about customer service. It is a long story but I will try to keep it short. Don't ever do business with this company. They have no customer service, I have contacted them multiple times and they continue to harass me. I am not sure they have any real employees. I cancelled my agreement with them several times, I have sent them documents and they haven't responded to any of my communications. The worst company I have ever dealt with.

After 20+ years with Amerigas we discontinued service because of poor service and high prices. They picked up their tank and have now sent a “past due” bill for picking up their tank. This is the first bill we have received from them The bill is $419.98. I would give them zero stars but that was not an option.

Worst company I've dealt with bar none

Worst company I've dealt with bar none. Non-responsive customer service, numerous cancelled service appointments without any explanation, failure to replace rusty and damaged propane tanks despite numerous requests and failure to remove propane tank for more than six months following termination (30 days is the maximum period allowable by law). Avoid like the plague.

This is the worst company ever…

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I never signed an agreement. I asked them for proof that the tank was theirs and in return, they delivered fuel after being told not to do so and sent me a bill with lots of phony fees and even billed me for sending the bill. They will not read the emails I have sent or answer the phone. I would avoid this company at all costs. This is the worst service I have ever seen.

We had been a customer for over 20…

We had been a customer for over 20 years and had always had great service. That is, until they closed our local office. Once that happened, trying to contact anyone was damn near impossible! After several years of not being able to speak to anyone in person, we decided to switch companies. I spent the last week trying to get a live voice. When their automated system would ask what I needed assistance with, I would say "discontinue service ". This would result in being told hold times were up to 3 hours. I work. I can't stay on hold that long. Today I tried a different approach and said I needed a refill. Guess what? Someone was on the phone in 10 minutes. Once I got to talk to someone, they said I needed the service department. I asked if they have a direct line. Of course not, but "we'll transfer you ". Once transferred, was told the hold time was 134 minutes. Set up a time for them to call me, which they surprisingly did. Was told I own the tank, but they would be happy to remove it for me, for $500. It was originally their tank. They were then dumb enough to inquire why I changed companies. Not smart. I let them know.

More Than Double The Price

Should be zero stars, but I have to select one. I bought a home and started up service with Amerigas because their tank was already on the property. I assumed propane prices would be in the same similar ballpark among other propane companies. 8 years later, I had a leak which Amerigas failed to fix properly, so I fixed it myself and decided to look into other companies. I found out I could have been getting propane for LESS THAN HALF the price for 8 years. So I tried to terminate with Amerigas. They make it VERY difficult. I spent many hours holding on the phone, just to try to politely request termination. A CSR would answer then transfer me to hold for another hour and so on. Then I received a final bill. $300 PLUS $150 = $450 !!!!! for them to come get their tank. They wouldn’t let me bring it to them, even though my tank was legal size to move on the highway myself. There are far better propane companies, so hopefully you read the reviews.

The worst propane company

They were a decent company to deal with but after they were bought out by some conglomerate company their customer service dropped to the bottom of the barrel, they didn’t reduce prices in the summer like all the other companies, if you want to talk to someone I hope you have a couple hours to wait, over three days I’ve been on hold for 7 hours, after cancellation of my service they wanted to charge me 500 dollars to pick up the tank I’ve been leasing for 7 years, just the worst company I’ve ever dealt with, save yourself a headache and lots of money and choose one of their competitors, I’m in Montana near Bozeman

We have been a customer for decades - Beware

We have been a customer for decades. Generally good service most of the years but fees and overall costs climbed much faster than the competition. Decided to change propane companies. It took several calls and being on hold about an hour each time to talk to a person. Even tried chat but that was not much better. After finally getting a hold of a real person I got transferred again. Apparently no one was authorized to cancel service. Finally got to the right person after many hours of frustration and constantly hearing the same recording over and over on how they transferred their customer service to the U.S. to better serve me. By this time the competitor tank I ordered was installed and the 120 gal already rusty used replacement tank AmeriGas delivered several years ago was sitting to the side ready to pickup. I was told it was $443.08 to dispatch a driver and pick up the tank. I was told we agreed to this somewhere in the decades of time we were their customer. They told me no one reads the fine print. Please take a moment to scan many of the other reviews. I have never experienced this poor of service from anyone and a company willing to take total advantage of long term customers. Shameful at best.

Customer for 22 years

Customer for 22 years. Finally did a price comparison and was shocked at the difference compared to other local propane companies. America was charging $4.969 a gallon. A local propane company quoted $2.20 a gallon. We decided to go with the local company. We called Amerigas to discontinue service with them. Calling them was a major hassle. The rep that we talked to didn't have a polite tone and told my wife that she could only talk to me as I was primary on the account. I told the rep that I was giving her permission to talk to my wife. She said that I was the only one she would talk to. I asked to talk to her manager. So she transferred me and I was put on hold only to be told that my wait time was 70 minutes. Finally we did get to someone that said that there was a $299.99 pickup fee and $119.99 service dispatch fee. The local propane company we signed up with came out and disconnected the tank and Amerigas' pressure regulator. They also moved the Amerigas tank to a convenient location for Amerigas to pick up. A week later Amerigas came to pick up the tank. Just one driver. So what is the Service dispatch fee for? We did fill up our new tank at the price of $2.10 per gallon. So beware of price gouging and terrible sevice.

Signed up for a new account-deceptive pricing scheme

Signed up for a new account and was offered .25 off per gallon with code "SAVE25". When Amerigas called me to set up delivery, the rep said she didn't see that on my account . I told her, I have a screenshot of an email confirming the price quoted..she seemed doubtful. I told her I would send the email which came from Amerigas with the coupon price applied.....the call ended abruptly.
